  1. Hi Steve, I have had it for 5 days now and done about 700 miles in it. It is VERY tight but you can feel the power is there - it is very good at overtaking on the motorway and seems as torquey in many situations as my Impreza was, just not as high revving. The box seems very good, you can use 6th gear at 70MPH no worries. The box has just been "modded" by Lexus to stop it being as clunky/crashy in 1st and 2nd, which seems to have 90% done the job but it is a tight(ish) gearchange at the moment. Being a "modder" at heart, if there was a good ECUTEK equivalent remap available (as available for VAG or Peugot diesel cars) then I will certainly look 100% carefully at it as an option. Overall the car is great, cannot understand reviews like the one in "What Car" this month saying the car is "off the pace" and is poor, missed the boat etc. The quality, design and overall package is UNBEATABLE. A friend was up today with his new Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd he picked up at lunchtime - and was seriously stunned by the IS - he was so impressed by it, the design, the space, and the quality...he left calling his a "Big Tractor" - he has just traded his V plate Grand Cherokee LTD so does like them... REALLY good car - any gripes are totally washed away by the whole package. Brian :)
  2. Mine was already in the system - had to wait just over 1 and a half weeks, got the colour I wanted, good interior (may have chosen black) and a sunroof I did not order, but due to a "glitch" in the order process, the dealer met me halfway. Personally I would never wait any longer than a couple of weeks unless it just was not available anywhere else. The car looks great in many colours and, somewhere in the UK, I know I could have found a similar car in stock. Brian :)

  4. From the album: IS220d Sport

Cloudy IS220d Sport picture - the day I collected it.
  5. Pictures AT LAST - not the best and taken on my phone but you'll get the idea. Plate is going so no need to blank the numbers... Loving it - 650 miles so far, handbrake been tightened and gearbox "mod" done by dealer to remove clunky shift in 1st and 2nd. Much better. A fabulous all round car - feels heavy, but still nimble. Can't wait to break the 10,000 miles mark and know it has loosened up a bit. Still feels VERY tight. Really glad to have it in the family. Managed 500+ miles (including a good few on the motorway) on its' first tank and I hope 400+ on its' second tank of £50 of mixed driving. Insurance around the £400 mark too - really can't argue. My first service is even free. This should be a cheap year (aside from the cost of the car, of course!) Brian [:)]
  6. Car is going great. Was in today to get the handbrake tightened and to get a "gearbox mod" done - it was clunking and not engaging very well in 1st and 2nd - it is superb now. Handover of the car was super, Sebastien has been great, bottle of wine etc and the car looked brilliant too. Really happy with the car. First tank managed 500+ miles too, so economy is proving good (although there were a lot of motorway miles included in that). Brian :)
  7. Phone someone like Chips Away - that's who Lexus would probably use anyway! Brian :)
  8. I fully intend to start layering some coats of Swissol wax on top of the Supagard applied to mine on Thursday, when I picked it up from Lexus Edinburgh. How did your handover go with Lexus Glasgow - I was VERY pleased with Lexus Edinburgh & salesman Sebastien Zamora. Nipping in on Monday to get my Handbrake tightened and an adjustment to the clutch - but it has been a great 400 miles so far. Can't wait to take it out of the garage tomorrow and get the 1,87598,3453453,453,53,453 flies scraped off the front!!!! AND its' first stone chip on the bonnet. However, the car is PHENOMENAL and the colour combination is perfect. NO rattles (yet or ever I hope). Brian :)
  9. I just picked mine up on Thursday. I think it would have been built in end of March, start of April for it to be here now. Do you think mine will need done, or has been done etc? Brian :)
  10. My plates are screwed on with plastic number plate screws. When my retention documents come through, the dealer has offered (without me asking) to "drop in, we'll make up some plates for you and fit them while you have a coffee"...that I like. Excellent service from Lexus Edinburgh and Sebastien Zamora (sales). Brian :)
  11. Picked up the car yesterday...it is superb - went away overnight as I had a day off today and we have managed to clock up 400 miles in it so far. Getting handbrake (maybe clutch) adjusted on Monday @ Lexus, otherwise it is superb. SUCH a good car. Will post up pictures tomorrow daytime if I can. It looks immense. SO happy with it. Brian :)
  12. I collect the car tomorrow (Thursday) @ 11AM. CANNOT wait - I am bursting to get it... :)
  13. Mr Singh's looks immense - I so want to do that to my black Primera GT!!!! Brian :)
  14. Good on you, I went to look, the wow factor was there - and I bought - simple as that [:)] Brian [;)]
  15. Does anyone know if the 18's fitted to the IS220d and IS250 Sport are prone to this corrosion - worried about this. Hat looking after stuff only for it to fall apart because of poor manufacture. Subaru had the same issue - my wheels on the Impreza are starting to pit - one after less than 6 months on the car :o Brian.
  16. DON'T SAY 8 DAYS!!!!! I have waited 8 - 2 more to go - can't take another 8 and neither can my wife :):):) Brian ;)
  17. Stay away from cheap car washes, NEVER use brush systems and always hand wash the car with a clean terry towel cloth or lambswool wash mit - black needs some extra looking after - I have a black car. Looks great wet, terrible in the sun! A quality product is what you need - Meguairs, Zymol or (what I use) Swissol. There is a video guide on how to wash your car here and also a tips booklet - read it carefuly - only by carefully washing and preparing your car from new will you keep it remotely looking good: Swissol Video Link & Tips Booklet Brian [:)]
  18. Great first post! I am, like you about to get my first Lexus (many Toyota). All things going well I should be driving it on Thursday, Friday at the latest. I test drove the IS250 SE Auto and it was great - really quiet except tyre noise (not really Lexus' fault - and over time owners will find quieter). The quality and detailing is great and makes the car really stand out on thw road - for the last week and a half I have driven hundreds and hundreds of miles and only seen 1 other IS220/250 on the road. That is great! Good luck in the wait - I have only had to wait 8 days so far and that is killing me! Brian.
  19. Tried to order through carsparkle but it says you need a minimum order of £999 - what!
