  1. I also noted that German drivers have their own instructions in the manual, for starting the car and driving away, ?? how weird
  2. Cool no more "Tireless arm" for you then ;)
  3. right then, it's got until the 1st Jan to straighten up and fly right or its going back in to have the Sewing machine installed! :(
  4. My IS200Se now has 3000 on the clock, and is quite tappetty (I've checked the oil) Lex say to wait until 6000 miles and see if it loosens up. Anyone else have this? it sounds like just one tappet and I can only hear it if the window is open at MacDonalds or the bonnet is up. Should I be more worried???
  5. Yer sorry about that, our posts crossed, guess I should before posting? errrr.
  6. Anyone know where I can get my windows tinted in the Coventry area and how much roughly, (2002 IS200 SE) Cheers and Merry Xmas :hohoho:
  7. I heard a strong rumor from a very reliable source that this is a problem with the IS series, something to do with the heavier engine we have in Europe compoared to the 4 Pot used in Japan? heard that a "new" IS went throught the front 1" or so in about 6-9000. Would magine the IS300 is even worse (this was a 200) could be like the wheels issue maybe worth bitching like hell if it happens to you and dont take any crap about driving styles (its rear wheel drive! and the outside edges go on on the fronts normally on heavy cornering) Thoughts? probably a camber issue, as my slammed minitruck used to go throught the sdes of a set of fronts in about 3-5000! Hefty Negative Camber! so its only gonna get worse if you lower it.
  8. Kind of on the same subject this... A couple of years ago I was on a Market research thing where you go and talk about advertising and stuff, this one was on Shell as it goes and one of the questions involved what you thought was important. One of their ideas was, "we keep our pumps maintained better so they dont click off prematurely" hmm certainly does seem to vary between filling stations...although my FTO was much worse for this and the Chevy doesnt do it at all ever! anyone on here have a definitive answaer? :hocus-pokus: :hohoho: :hocus-pokus: :hohoho:
  9. Just as an aside, theres also LONGLIFE exhausts. www.exhausts.uk.com they do mandrel bend the pipe and the quality of work seemed very good (just had on fitted to my 1962 Chevy. They build it on the car and tune to your tastes. pricing seems on par. just an alternative to consider.
  10. Gonna Check it out on a run this Fri down to Godalming and back @ about 80-85 anyone tried an ECOTEC valve in an IS? my mate seems to be getting anexcellent return on his in a 91 Corolla GTi (nothing round town but on a run, WOW!)
  11. You'll find the 9005 is for the main beam (listed as High beam on the site) and that they have 2 ridges on the connection so they only fit there. IS200SE 2002
  12. The Phone Kit fitment went OK. Theres no room for the speaker and main unit begind the stereo so Mine is now up under the top vents and seems to give a good output from the speaker. The no drill bracket is exactly that and fits well (so it should at 20 quid for a bent bit of tin with some holes in) the whole job took me the best part of an afternoon, no major trauma.
  13. OK, so I have now ordered my "No drill" bracket (£19.99) removed the radio and am now faced with a bunch of wires coming from the rear of the head unit (Cd over cassette) Wiring is as follows on my (Non nav) 2002 IS200 SE Ground = Brown Switched feed = grey Permanent feed = Blue Stereo Mute Blue/Red stripe Not however that a Head unit full of CDS does not take kindly to being turned upside down, leading to a requirement for dismantling said head uit for cd removal! This is achieved by taking the player out of the cage (8 Very tight bolts 8mm) and the removal of two small cross head screws at the rear top. removal of the lid is then possible. I'll let you all know how the phone fitting goes tomorrow or Friday cheers Neil
  14. Most AC systems have a built in De-humidifier, which is why it is best to leave them on auto. In my last car (A mitsti FTO) you could also run the AC in ECO mode which switched off the de-humidifier and therefore misted up the windows in damp conditions, if yours mists on AUTO maybe you have a problem with the de-humidifier, could be worth getting it checked by a dealer. My experience with the IS is that if you turn off the AC or swith off AUTO mode it can start to mist up, (worse if you've had a shower or if the other half has washed her hair!) but switching to AUTO clears rapidly.
  15. Thanks for the reply, but I notice from the pic you sent me that your cassette slot is above the cd slot, mine is the other way around...hmmm p.s. do you have the part number for the autoleads bracket at all? p.p.s I've tried to pry the felt up from my top tray, but it seems to be stuck, bearing in mind that this is a 52 IS200 SE anyone know definatively how to remove this to get at the head unit mounting bolts? Cheers or more like AM stupid
  16. Yep, I think theres a degree of confusion here, I'm not putting the output through the head unit, merely trying to mute it whilst on a call. Thanks to everyone who replied, does anyone have a wiring schematic showing the mute wires colour? Cheers
  17. For my next trick I will fit a Nokia phone kit, I'm on the scrounge for information though... 1. how does the cd/tape player come out of the dash 2. is there a telephone mute wire on the harness 3. if so what colour is it 4. any other gotchas I should be aware of? Thanks again in advance. p.s. Still loving the IS200 SE, just so luxurious..look at those 3 series drivers with their steel wheels and cassette only players etc...lol!
  18. Thanks for that, it's another avenue closed. So far my options seem to be: a PDA based system ala IPAQ etc an aftermarket car system (VDO etc.) a dedicated mobile gps ala StreetPilot III could anyone who has one of these rate on: 1. Quality of Direction (visual and audio) 2. Quality of Mapping 3. Quality of Visuals (ease of use whilst driving) Thanks for all help so far. p.s. I love my IS200 SE (just so you know)
  19. I'd be really interested to find out how you get on with it, Even needing to buy an ipaq would be cheaper than either the lexus option or Alpine/pioneer etc etc Cheers
  20. I chose not to spend the cash out hoping to get something else cheaper, but it seems that after market sat nav is even more expensive than the £2300 Lexus want. Has anyoine tried the cheaper alternatives? Do you have the inside track on this? Will Lexus fit sat nav after you've bought the car?? let the rest of us in on the deal then...cheers!
