  1. Do the fan ones need power running to them ? If so then I think the tripples will be my order of the day...
  2. i intend to, found the perfect Panasonic unit with orange illumination! was going to stick with Alpine (what i had in my previous car). but cant find an orange display unit. but this panasonic is pretty danm close to the alpine's ive been looking at! http://www.motor-world.co.uk/images/hires/13020.jpg You should get an ALPINE CDA-9853R , it is totally user changeable with regards to illumination. It will lead the ICE in my car in the next month when I get the time. Lots of great features you can program with pc then load to head unit on cd says the website... less than £200 It's only an idea.
  3. No code for IS200 as it does not have one. Post your pics of the new install during and after installation if you can !!
  4. How happy am I gonna make you ? :D Click on this LINK Enjoy. Wozza B)
  5. hi im new to this just got my new toy a 52 plate is200se navigator and was just wondering if it was possible to put a sub to the standard HU and amp that are already in the car any advice and info would be appriciated thanks Hi, I have currently got a subwoofer and amp connected without any fuss to the standard IS200SE sound system. I have a run a 4 AWG (thick)power lead from the battery (fused nr battery) down the left side of the car behind the panel under the doors, through to the boot. I spliced into the wires you can see in the boot from the rear 6x9 speakers. This is ok if you are only running a subwoofer, as this signal is low pass (bass frquencies) only. The reason for this is that the rear speakers are actually 4, not 2 as you would normally think. The Woofers (bass) are run as seperate speakers than the Tweeters (mid - high freq). The Woofer cable you see in the boot sends the bass signal from the amp mounted behind the glovebox. The tweeter( mid-high freq) is fed from on top of the rear shelf under the speaker cover. I don't know why Lexus wanted to make it so complicated, but there we are. So its ok to splice into the wires you can see in the boot to the 6x9's if you just want the bass signal,& you have an amplifier that can accept a high level input. You can still use this method if your amplifier uses a low level RCA Phono input, you just have to buy a High to Low Speaker level converter that will give you the RCA Phono output you want. Look here for an example LINK There are a couple of easy places to Earth in the boot, the luggage hoops for example. You can undo one of them, sand off the bolt hole so a good earth is obtained, slide in your ring or spade underneath the luggage hoops, and tighten the bolt. Have a look, as it all depends on where you are mounting the Amplifier, try to Earth within 18 inches of the where the Amp will be. If further down the line you want to change speakers or add another amp or head unit, things then become a lot more complicated. :tsktsk: I am in the process of adding a 4 channel Alpine amp, new Alpine Head Unit, Alpine component Speakers in the front doors, & Alpine 6x9's on the rear shelf. I have read about othere members swapping this & that on the forums, & think best to change the lot all at once. You can keep the Original Lexus Head Unit if you want too, and add amps, + speakers etc, & use something called a JL Audio Cleansweep, this can turn the high level output from the head unit into RCA's etc and also do neat tricks like making the radio sound at exactly the same level aas the cd player etc. Its quality kit,(I run a JL Audio Sub + Amp) but very expensive for what it does. I'd rather spend the same money on a :winky: REALLY :winky: good head unit. I am planning on doing the install sometime in the next 4 weeks (work permitting), & will post pictures of the install & finished results. But in answer to you question :D if you just want a Sub + Amp, its fairly easy. Run power + Earth leads, find a nice place for the sub box + Amp. Hook into the rear 6x9's for a bass signal. Simple. Have fun, any questions, send me a message Wozza
  6. Hi Just after a bit of advice on where to go with my system, Anyone with system please help this confused Bull make up his mind. Hi mate , I have a JL Audio 12W7 in the boot currently with a Jl 500/1 Amplifier. Nice new Alpine H.U , Amp + Front Components + Rear 6x9's all going in soon, junking the orig Head Unit and amp/speaker set up. I have some info I put up on another posting, click this LINK and see my post about halfway down, lots of links to help when gutting the Lexus Sounds for new stuff. (Head Unit , Speakers ,Amps etc) hope it helps Wozza
  7. Hi, please read my post here (part way down the page) LINK, lots of info u may need, hope this helps Wozza
  8. I currently own an IS200SE with standard tint on the windows. I have a new audio system install on the way, and once that's done I have always fancied the Rear Doors + Rear Window tinted relatively dark like the Sport model. My motives are that I think it will look cool, and stop prying eyes at least on the back. B) Does anyone know if this will affect my Insurance ? :tsktsk: Would this deter theives or attract them in your opinions ? (please all vote on this) Any other Good or Bad things of note ? :duh: I am going to get this professionally done, does anyone recommend a specialist in South / South East London/Kent area ? Cheers guys :winky: Wozza
  9. We need pictures of the procedure, & the finished results plus of course a list of components. Finally a solution ?????? Many have tried.... many have died lol Wozza
  10. Not bothered about the ones in the visors, just the one in the roof that comes on when the door opens! Hi, I have a red one fitted with 9 LEDS to my IS200SE. It's a 31mm festoon bulb. You can get them from E-bay easily. (even BLUE ones) If you can't find one then message me & I'll send you where I got mine. Wozza
  11. I have changes some of the interior lights on my IS200SE. The Courtesy light (red 9 led 31mm festoon), the Map Reading Light (red led BA9 ), the glove box (red led 286 ). I have also added a strip of RED Leds under the rear shelf between the 6x9's to give the boot a nice red glow. Red is much easier on the eyes at night, looks really cool from outside the car, and is quite original (loads of Blue lights on modded cars) but does provide less illumination, so you pays yer money etc... If BLUE is your thing then go for it !! There is a dashboard conversion (speedo binnacle only) available on E-Bay, but if you search the forums there are some very mixed reports about the even spread of light and others say it's awful. Basically don't bother with the dash kit on e-Bay. The AC Unit/ CD player is apparently very much more difficult & involves a lot of soldering.... So you could get a Blue LED Speedo not matching the rest of the dash. Up to you. I can give you the website of a place (UK) to get some of the bulbs from, and also a guy I have dealt with before on E-Bay for some of the interior leds if you send me a message. Hope this helps Wozza
  12. Hi Chris, check my pic. This is fitted to my IS200 via 3 allen key grub screws. I love it to bits. I bought it off E-Bay. It's a Richbrook Gear Knob with the Lexus logo. If you cant find one on there, messge me and I will put you in touch with the guy I got mine from. Wozza
  13. HI Iain, I have swapped over my front sidelight (White LEDS 501 W5W), Dipped ( Xenon Bulb) , Main Beam (Xenon Bulb). The Headlight bulbs are HB3 & HB4 but I can't remember which is which. The Sidelight LEDS make a big difference ( & look really cool), as do the Xenon Bulbs (much Whiter Light). I have the bulbs to do for the Foglights (but the swap-out means more than 5 minutes work & I have a BIG Audio install on the way that has priority). You do notice the Foglight is a yellower output so best to swap them out too. I have changes some of the interior lights on my IS200SE. The Courtesy light (red 9 led 31mm festoon), the Map Reading Light (red led BA9 ), the glove box (red led 286 ). 14. WOW !! Thanks so much, I have all the info I think I need, great pictures. May buy one of these and have a go with a replacement heated seats/traction control panel with some filler, sandpaper, and black paint. Thanks again Parthiban I'll be posting some pics of the install when I decide what I'm doing. Wozza
  15. Hi, if you follow the LINK you will see the Toyota (ORIG TRIM Part Number 55413-53010) is a double din that can be cut to fit either single or double din. The problem is at the bottom it looks like there is a provision for the Traction control, but where the Heated Seats switches go there is a pain in the :tsktsk: gap. Have any Members actually got one of these in use in an IS200/Altezza ? If so can they post some pictures? I was possibly thinking of putting the small cubbyhole tray from an Autoleads kit underneath my single din H.U. in this facia but the heated seats switches will not fit straight in and will look like a bit of a botch/cowboy fit, which is what I wanted to avoid in the first place. If I cant find a good looking solution, then its the bobbly Autoleads Single/Double DIN Facia (FP-25-00) for me . DOH !!! Cheers for you help so far guys Wozza
  16. Hi guys thanks for reading my post. There is a genuine Toyota part listed for the Altezza (ORIG TRIM Part Number 55413-53010) but am told it might be with a double not single din hole . I already have an Autoleads Single DIN Facia (FP-25-00) but looking at it makes me hope something better is available. Does anyone have one of the Genuine Toyota parts in use, and does it allow for the heated seat switches and traction control buttons to be fitted ? If so is it just like the dash link supplied by NOEL earlier in this topic ?
  17. Hi all :) , this is my first post (forum noobie), so apologies if not in the right place. :duh: I have an IS200SE 2001 Auto. I am replacing my IS200SE head unit & Amplifier with a nice Alpine/Rockford Fosgate/JL Audio system. :D The H.U will be single din fitment. I have seen the Autoleads Single DIN Facia (FP-25-00) but am not really happy with the bobbly finish. I have been told there is a Toyota Altezza replacement facia (ORIG TRIM Part Number 55413-53010) but have been told by Lexus Bromley that this is possibly a 2 din size hole, and they can't be sure it is single din. :tsktsk: I don't wanna waste £45 Does anyone know if this is correct info ? I just want the dash to look as good as possible as the Autoleads kit doesn't quite have the factory fit (little gaps , bobbly finish). Thanks for the help guys (IS or Altezza crew) Wozza
