  1. Fooling about with photoshop. Was wondering about a kit adn things I would add. Perhaps a group paint of calipers even....
  2. Here's the professional valet/detailing process using Swissol products from the PANTHER carvalet.co.uk Car was washed. pre wax washed off. Wheels cleansed. Tires gelled and dressed. Guy 2 - got indoors and hovered, and leathered the console/seats. Guy three, started the diesel compressor driven spray jet wash and guy 4 wiped and towelled down. The polish goes on - secret to extra gleam. Then the wax gets onto the hands and they guy literally uses his hands to apply thin layer of wax, which is wiped and buffed down panel by panel. Repeated thrice. The boss drives up in his Subbie, we chat abtou the IS250. I discuss possible futher mods and he talks abtou their presentation at the local MPH exhibition. Final Details The hood is popped up and detailed. And as we finalised the service....the lady keels over... :) Was a beautiful day. Lovely blue sky. Slight chilly winter wind Lots of plane routes plying above our houses up up above.... After a cold compress and some pressure dressing, the cut showed a deep laceration requiring further medical attention.
  3. well - if you ever drive near Oriental City or East Acton or North London or on the A406 btw Southgate and Hangar lane. I'm normally plying that route on a daily basis in the morning or evening
  4. Wow. didnt expect a thread like this to appear:) The nice news is, she's alright now. I've jsut come through the door and Her daughter (from cambridgeshire, came and dropped a thank you card in the letterbox) and her old time neighbour friend also dropped another. So all in all, although not expecting anything... there is a warm glow in my heart.
  5. when i mean detailed - it means, a lengthy process of washes/polish and waxes to the external shell, wheel, interior that comes from the love of polishing black metallaic objects (ok detaillgin can apply to any object..)
  6. Just a small update- Had the car professionally detailed yesterday by Panther, and jsut as we were about to finish, an elderly 89 lady fell on the curb, slashed her forehead and sprained her wrist, had difficulty breathign. Blood was in quite a few places. So pumped into action..patched the lady up. had some tea, Poped into the local GP practise (rough neighbourhood). There I was with Lily, and this bright black and highly detailed lexus..thinking..going to get scratched..going to get mobbed. Ah what the heck! Trying to manhandle the lovely old dear into the Lexus was interesting.. it wasnt built too friendly for elderly folk to get into the front and she had to resort to holding onto the door without the door hinge eating her hand. Patched her up but because they dont suture....we had to go to barnet GH. 4 hours later..was in barnet GH.... in the tender mercies of the lovely folk in the A&E dept with her son. The short excursion from the car to the dept reception was enough to set off her angina. then another 3 hour wait to see a doctor (but the NHS so cleverly sends a nurse to taker her BP & pulse at 40 mins, then her blood in another 40 mins...so as to show we are in the system..and then a doc in 1 hour later...Best bit was, because i was not related to this lady but wearing scrubs, everyoen thoguht i was her care assistant. I didnt say otherwise till teh doctor arrived and I handed over the case history :)) On a bright note, when i got home much later after going into Holborn for a late night meal with the missus at Matsuri, her ticker was found to be alright, and her forehead patched up but she did have a few broken bones in her R wrist! Guess going to A&E although may be slightly lengthy is worth it all in the end! Nest update. 1 Some SWISSOL detail pictures 2 Journey to Tintagel in Mid Dec
  7. Actually - there might be another way around this. Try diallign the number on your mobile phone. Because its Bluetoothed. it'll pop up on teh car screen (I've done this a few times now and it works....when statinary of course :)
  8. how do you mean. you can turn it on if you just press the start button once or twice or hold down with engine on surely?
  9. the IS250 pollen filter is different from the IS200. The IS 200 is just your basic A/C filter behind the glove box, whereas the IS250 seems to be equiped with a Pollen filter /deioninser extractor (with a special pollen extract button as well) + A/C filter
  10. in the IS250 SE auto - whenever you are around 5 mph or stationary, the Sat nav allows you to input a new destination
  11. firefox 1.5 is the faster loading net browser with anti spam protection. Thunderbird works lovingly on my machine, have gone completely over to mozzila!
  12. well been living with teh IS250 for 2 months now. i dont regret a bit of it, everytime i come up to it, i admire the muscular bulge from the rear to the front door, and once washed, the black gleams beautifully. In terms of power, speed and handling. The automatic paddle shifters are so smooth and yet with enough grunt, if you need to race from one traffic light to another...*grin*
  13. everytime u/re stationary -aaplly handbrake.
  14. Absolutely. Love the car to bits. No complaints. Well maybe - why doesnt it have a hover or fly option. And why doesnt it serve cofee or fudge :)
  15. havent had any rattle so far. had the SE auto car for a month now
  16. so errr- there isnt a good range of bulb substitutes short of going HID?
  17. I reckon, withsome tweaking, most stock IS250 can be modified to sport or better spec, with slight lowering of 30-35mm, maybe an anti roll bar. The current setup of the drive ratios of the SE auto seem quite responsive at the moment, with a decent fuel economy of 26mpg trashing around with paddle shifters, 28 mpg City driving to 35 mpg Motorway. The current suspension is also just about right for the current B roads and A roads. Going over bumps seems better than the old IS200. In that regard, i did consider the sport verison but after having 6 years of `firm rides' perhaps my perception has changed to one of comfort but still the appreciation of speed and elegance when needed Hence, i feel the sport might be - lets feel every bump on the road appeal. With regards to colour - A black or granite black would be nice, have yet to see japanese colours here yet - like cream white/pure white. Red with a lower styling kit woudl lok excellent as well. protection: you could choose to add some nice polishes. Supraguard is not as effective as that new Nissan resin paint..which allegedly reforms to conceal chips and stone chips! As soon as a nissan repaint dealer comes up. I'm opting for a bonnet respray! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1901520,00.html someone get me that number!
  18. I'm curious as to what basic performance enhancement can be made to the iS250 as well. Any ideas? it's stock is 204 bhp. Aim to get to 256 bhp
  19. there is anotehr cig lgther for use with the AUX, that you can use with your K750i. althoguh frankly..teh K750i doesnt run out of battery. keeps goign on and on and on....
  20. Here are some pics from today's meet at TDI. Ahmet...was scarface crazy as usual, with his slimlined carputer lovingly up and running. Pity , we didnt get to see mats car on the run. overall a nice meet but impossibly cold after standing outside for 4 hours! A faceless 350z Ahmet's IS bonnet open with a small lexus lineup New shape vs the old shape
  21. hey - great to meet you all today. Looks liek we'll have another fun one. hopefully not so cold! So how many fo you dudes will go the 250 way?
  22. Alright - to clear the air regarding the MP3 functionality of the IS250 It plays MP3s on any normal CD format but with regards to DVD format, its a bit harder.
  23. The good news for recent sony erricsons handsets is, you can download the WHOLE phonebook under advanced, export function
  24. well - i have the latest both the S Erricson k750i and V900. both the bluetooths work perfectly, with perfect exporting/importing of contact databases. The bluetooth works so far outside the car...once linked..20-30feet distance!!! Nokia has more limited bluetoth functions. Bluetooth ultimately is blue tooth, but sometimes they dont get past teh passkey system - eg. the Sharp GX30 which i also had
