  1. Welcome to the club Symon, interesting history you have..............as Ian said, pictures would be good.
  2. Looking very nice indeed Pete, all your hard work certainly shows, nice job.
  3. Personally, if the trader hasn't been entirely honest at such an early stage and you obviously have doubts I'd leave well alone. There are good cars out there it's just a case of finding them.
  4. Thanks Scudney, I've re-read the ad and noticed the tyres are extra load so decided to pass, think I'll stick to my original plan of 225's for the rears when I get round to having my alloys powder coated.
  5. I'm interested in a set of Lexus 5 (7.5j) spoke alloys but they have 235/45/17 tyres on them, not going to use the tyres on the front but would they fit the rear without rubbing?
  6. If you want a project to get your teeth into I would be looking at a Supra turbo engine swap, around 320bhp as standard. Not sure what insurance would be like though.
  7. Sorry to hear of your bad news Dan, gutted for you but at least you came out of it without any serious injury just a shame the same couldn't be said for your car. Can't believe no one stopped to help but sadly the driver pointing and laughing doesn't really surprise me, being a somewhat old git, I have noticed a distinct and negative shift in some peoples attitudes to their fellow human beings these days. Not a fan of "budget" tyres myself so I can understand how you feel about the Fullrun, especially not good news on a rear wheel drive car. Chin up fella, hopefully all will come good in the end for you.
  8. Thanks John. Interesting as I've yet to see any 7.5" alloys advertised but I guess most people would assume they are the same size. I did think a 225 wouldn't be an issue but it's better to check first! Can't beat a bit of over-engineering :winky:
  9. I've read the Sportcross came with staggered tyre sizes, 215/45/17 fronts and 225/45/17 on the rears. Mine has 215 all round and was thinking of putting 225's on the rear. My question is would the 225's fit on the rims or were the rear wheels a different size?
  10. As mentioned already this is down to personal taste, not a fan of black alloys myself, a really good stand out silver for me.
  11. Good heads up Phil. We have had this two years running with the RAC, in fact they took the renewal money out of my wife's account one year without warning! Every renewal we challenge the premium and every year they drop it, it's worth a phone call.
  12. They can be found on ebay, I bought mine on there for about £6 or £7.
  13. If you are a little nervous about buying a used Lexus my advice would be to try and buy a car with a full service history, ideally a Lexus one. If you find a car you like check the service history with Lexus (they can access their data base across the country) if it all checks out at least you know it's been properly serviced. Sadly, unless you know the person selling the car it's difficult to know who is trustworthy, your going to need to use you own judgement on that one unless you can take someone along who is more experienced at buying used cars. It might be worth ringing your Local Lexus dealer and ask if they have any Part Ex. GS430's or know of any due in across their network. The price will be higher but you will get at least a three month warranty if not more. They do sell older models, I was in Bristol Lexus a few weeks ago and they had an 06 IS250 for £6995 with around 80K. Best of luck with your search.
  14. We'll I've had both my friend who runs his own garage and Lexus Bristol check the knocking noise, both can hear it but everything looks fine with no problems, they simply cannot fault find it! As mentioned on here Lexus said brake caliper components have been known to cause problems and also they had problems with some cars shock absorbers, apparently they can suffer from sticky valves but even after changing them the knocking has sometimes come back......great! If your going to lower yours moving away from stock should hopefully solve the problem if indeed it is the shocks in the first place. Your right, a Lexus shouldn't make these noises..............seriously, bloody annoying
  15. If you have to replace tyres all round it can get expensive, I'm thinking of replacing my rears which are currently 215/45/17 with what I understand to be the correct rear size of 225/45/17 but want to get my wheels powder coated first. Unfortunately my rear self leveling headlight sensor packed up recently so that was just over £400 fitted at Lexus Bristol, so my plans have been set back somewhat, plus I need to sort out an annoying knocking noise which both Lexus and my mechanic friend can't get to the bottom of. Frustrating, but such is life!
  16. Nothing yet Stuart, didn't hear back from Alex so will have to chase him up when I remember. Had a few expensive outlays on the car recently so cash is a bit tight right now so not in any great hurry.
  17. I'm in jno hurry, I'll get back to you for his number if I don't hear anything, thanks.
  18. Just sent him a pm, thanks.
  19. Many thanks on both counts Stuart, I'm on Facebook............Adrian Barney Barnes.
  20. Wanted set of four mudflaps (part number 08414-53820) for IS300 Sportcross, new or used.
  21. Do Altezza 17" 5 spoke alloy wheels, as shown in picture, differ in any way to IS200/300 alloys or are they one in the same but with different centre caps?
