  1. All the very best Taimur, sorry to see you leaving the fold but hopefully you can find something smaller but equally interesting.
  2. Thanks Tony and really pleased to hear yours is now sorted as well.
  3. Sorry, thought I had updated this thread: I have now had the Sachs shocks fitted along with genuine Lexus top mounts and I'm almost noise free, I still get an occasional creak on bumpy surfaces but it's 90% better than it was an certainly acceptable to live with. My problem wasn't caliper related but certainly shock absorber/mount related.
  4. Very sorry to hear of your fathers passing. Many thanks for your help and dedication as a member and moderator, wishing you all the best in the future.
  5. Stealth tax by our governments is the short answer, welcome to rip off Britain.
  6. I may be incorrect, apologies if I am, but isn't the engine the same as a Supra TT, if so then I would have thought you could source a water pump fairly easily?
  7. Hi Owen and welcome to the club.
  8. If you can do the work yourself a MKIV Supra TT engine or a write off with good engine might be an option, it's a lot of work plus insurance might be prohibitive. Failing that use a IS300 engine (Basically a Supra N/A engine) which will give you 211bhp right out of the box, having said that it would probably would be easier and more cost effective just to buy an IS300.
  9. Hi Iain and welcome to the club.
  10. Welcome on board Sam, your GS looks nice.
  11. Good examples seem to be getting more sought after and prices are following suit. On the downside more and more average cars are being advertised for daft money as a result.
  12. Neil, it looks like you have a nice GS for good money, pleased to hear your enjoying it.
  13. Ian, I have suffered with depression for years so fully understand how hard it can be. I have a few hobbies which I try and engage with but nothing quite as skillful as your pens/wood turning, very impressed and well done. Wishing you lasting, brighter days.
  14. Would be worth cleaning the face of the sensors and checking connections if possible.
  15. Ian, not sure if you have seen this thread, I know it's for IS's but it may be of help: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/85381-is-suspension-issues/page-5#entry878013 I replaced both shocks and suspension top mounts on my Sportcross and my knocking noise has gone.
  16. Never seen one fitted to an IS, were they ever available for them?
  17. Hi Jonathan and welcome to the club. What sort of mpg does your BMW give you as an IS200 isn't exactly frugal and as your looking at saving money it may not be the best choice mpg-wise? Be careful simply looking locally for as IS, whilst you may be lucky and find a good one I would advise buy the best you can afford which may involve casting your net wider. Best of luck with your search.
  18. Ha, ha....... He makes a big point about the service history in the ad but when asked about 89,000 onwards he's lost for words, funny that, typical car trader.
  19. Depends on what you want from the car, if you enjoy simply being wafted along in comfort and not prone to hard driving along twisty roads then the LS400 is hard to beat, the V8 engine is superb and I found in mine the mpg can be surprisingly good, in fact not much different to my current Lexus (IS300Sportcross) which has the same 3ltr engine as the GS. Can't comment on the GS itself as I have never driven one. I would certainly buy another LS400. Good luck with your search.
  20. Oh, not good news especially after the conversation went so well, sounds like the other chap is serious as well. Keep us posted and fingers crossed.
  21. Update: I have now replaced my front shocks with the Sachs shocks and also had new Lexus suspension top mounts fitted and I'm pleased to say that in the limited mileage I have covered since fitting everything seems fine, it seems the knocking noise has been cured. It's not been the cheapest problem to solve but at least I can really enjoy the car now.
  22. Welcome on board Mick, love the colour of your car.
