  1. warranty doesn't really come into it. Lexus Derby sold you a car that was defective, so who they get to pay the cost is their problem, but they are responsible to fix the car. Incidentally, did you take any HP for the car? If so under the consurmer credit act the HP company is also equally liable to you, so you can attack on both fronts. I successfully did this with Ford many years ago when they refused to do any permanent repairs on my car, but simply fix under warranty until the warranty ran out, then i would be on my own. I took the case up with Ford Credit and after 3 years and no further payments they agreed to accept the car back. point being that you can chase on both counts.
  2. even with an auto, 50k is nothing for brakes, depending on your driving style. My last car was a BMW 530i auto and only changed the pads at 72k (and that was only front or back, can't remember which). never had any issue with discs.

yes sounds like balancing. should have done it when fitting tyres, but could have done a bad job, or sometimes the tyres slip after first use and knock the balancing out.
  4. that is correct, all European countries now can claim to the court in the country of the license holder. Although I have never heard of a situation of the UK police going after anyone, but many times the other way round. I used to live in USA and when i first came back i got caught on camera and sent them my licence, which at the time was my US license. they didn't even bother to follow it up for the money. as for current penalty it is £60 see http://www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/open/c...pdfgradfixedpen on page 6 and page 9 explains the new system they are looking at for graduated penalties
  5. yes my 2005 GS works same as Brettster says, hold lock and unlock button down and the windows open or close. similar issues after keeping keys in pocket and going out to find car unlocked and all the windows open.
  6. fantastic just had to send the link on and cheer up others day

  8. ok thanks i'll give that a go. Looking forward to the Toon's first match this weekend under big Sam.
  9. yes they are illegal as they are obstructing the police from doing their work. Detection i don't think is illegal, but those that attempt to jam or give a false reading back to the laser are.
  10. I have the new GS300 SE and wanted to see if any one else had a problem with the bluetooth phone connection being dropped all the time. When i bought the car one of the things i checked was that i could connect my blackberry by bluetooth. However after about 4 months i had to change the blackberry after i sat on it and broke the screen. :D Anyway the new blackberry was same model, but since then i have problem with the connection keep dropping. I am assuming it is the phone as it was ok with previous phone, but wanted to see if anyone else had suffered same problem in case it is the car end that started to go.
  11. i have the road angel and it is excellent and when i got it i took the life time update option which was only £99 instead of £30 a year to keep it up to date. On the laser detection you have to be careful. Firstly most of them don't work as the new windscreens block out the detection, so you have to fit an external wire through around number plate. The other problem is that it cannot warn you of laser ahead of time, as soon as they point it at you if the detection works, then you will know, but the laser is instant and you have been caught by the time you know about it. They work on the idea that the car in front will be targeted and it will detect that and warn you. Personally i never used the laser on mine. Prefer instead to be warned of the site ahead and slow down. After all that is the object of the cameras to slow us down in areas of problems not revenue earning as most police forces and councils seem to have forgotten.
