  1. Yeah you will find someone on here knows the answer to almost everything!!!! Enjoy your holiday Pete
  2. Hi Yeah had a Voyager a few years ago and got some 18" rims in Gunmetal... looked nice Pete
  3. Hi Nice looking car but if you want to sell it then I would suggest taking that black mat out of it, get lower and take a better angle of the dash, or even sit in the back seat and take a picture like my avatar. Outside take the photograph from a low angle with a 3/4 view, i.e. from corners. Can't understand why you are selling it, what are you going to replace it with?? Pete
  4. Hi Light deflectors are a waste of time and just mess your headlights up as Glenn says don't bother. The latest sat nav disc is a duel layer disc with 8.5gb on it, I upgraded mine from a 2001 car and it was much better, take yours out and stick it in your computer and see how big it is.... they are only about £100 anyway and you can get them on line here. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ They are very quick to send it, came in about 2days from europe It is in the boot on the right hand side under the removable floor section next to the lift up wheel well cover (if that makes sense) You have to remove two 10mm bolts, toolkit helps here, you can then lift it up enough to get the disc out. As for a triangle, you will never need one now, you drive a Lexus, they don't break down....... They are very quick to send it, came in about 2days from europe Glad you like the car, they just seem to keep growing on you.... Pete
  5. Anthony, Totally up to you, I think yours looks nice with the silver wheels but gunmetal would be nice, Personally I think matt black would look like you had steel wheels and had lost your hubcaps!!!!! Just my 2p Pete
  6. SRS stands for "secondary restraint system" it means all other forms of restraint apart from the standard seatbelt (primary restraint system) so it includes airbags and seatbelt tensioners and pre-tensioners. Pete
  7. There are loads of regulations regarding number plates, all offenses relating to number plates are in fact customs and excise offences, sounds silly but they are there to show you have paid tax. Customs and excise and dvla are after all only tax collectors. The police have pressure put on them to ensure that number plates are totally legal so that the number plate recognition cameras will be able to tell if you have paid your road tax and issue you with an £80 fine if you haven't. If the number plate has too many other bits on it the recognition camera can't read it and they think someone is getting away with no tax. So be warned as lots of local plod have been instructed to ensure everyone has a legal plate. Having said that I think a lot of it depends on how busy they are and your attitude if you do get stopped.... Always found it best to eat humble pie, plead ignorance and beg for forgiveness... its amasing what I've got away with..... Good luck Pete P.S. I love those plates as well.... may get a set.
  8. As eXOBeX says knowing what system you have, single point or injection and the make. It is virtually impossible to diagnose problems on a forum unless you want to just keep replacing things, But... What did the lpg place think was wrong? Did they replace anything? Did the lambda make any difference at all? Pete
  9. Steve You can't be the first to want to do this, I'm sure I have seen something like that on ebay probably on the american site www.ebay.com not .co.uk If not try Halfords they can usually get most things Good Luck Pete
  10. Hi all The LPG install has had to be put back as I have to wait for the repairs to the back... see other thread Lexus v Discovery They will have to repair/replace the rear panel so I'm leaving out the tank untill after the repairs I may fit the front end out before, will have to see how it goes Pete
  11. Anthony Welcome to the forum and well done on the car, you will love it especially at that price probably about £3000 too cheap... Just see if you can hide the traffic master You may find the dealer will help with the wheels if not someone on ebay is doing reconditioned wheels for a reasonable price Where in Lincs are you, I'm in Hull just over the water. Pete
  12. Cheers Barney This goes from bad to worse though, we are currently in a rented house, (sold ours in two days and had nowhere to go so rented for a while) anyway three times I have complained about debris falling off the roof and three times the letting agent did s*d all.... anyway I have been parking the Lexus as far from the front of the house as possible, about 15 ft away. On Friday in that high wind a section of tile blew off the roof, dropped onto the fake plastic canopy over the front bay window, used this as a slide and managed to land on the bonnet and bounce its way nearly all the way up leaving damage all the way..... Got onto the agent again and to cut a long and agressive story short the household insurance will be paying for a respray on the bonnet and front bumper, which will involve blending the paint into the front wings.... so thats all the front and all the back to be sprayed... Took some pictures of the back below.... The estimate for the repairs to the rear is £1000 labour/paint/materials and approx £2000 parts!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't look too bad from here, you can see how the boot has bent and is higher than the rear wing at the top. You can see where the boot has been pushed in here Hard to see but the light is sticking out from the wing and the bumper is crased below the light, it is the same on the other side as well Look at the plastic trim at the top of the picture it has popped off and stayed straight so you can see the whole back has gone inwards about 2 inches.. The front won't show on pictures it is just scratched and chipped with a small dent on the bonnet. Pete
  13. Yeah was quiet amazed, it doesn't look too bad from 10ft but it hit the weakest point, just where the bottom of the bootlid meets the top of the rear panel, pushed them both in abit which has bowed the top of the bootlid up and pushed off the interior trim on the back of the rear panel, luckily the boot still opens and closes its just a few inches shorter!!! Yes Prestige are doing it I have heard they are good, mid sized privately owned shop who still care about customers. Yeah, poor woman, she was sooooo sorry, The woman was as white as a sheet and couldn't speak for a few minutes, had to feel sorry for her really, she had just got insured for it at 11.30am and had the prang at 12.30, it was her partners car and he was going away for a few weeks and let her use it, she said she wasn't going to tell him until he was away because he would be so furious!!! Pete
  14. Hi and welcome to the forum cars fitted with the DHP are much harder than standard, it has been discussed on here before at length about the poor comfort, do a search on Dynamic Handling Pack and you will find more info, basically it was wheel/tyres lower springs and body coloured grille. If you want to return it to standard then 4 new springs and 16" wheels with standard tyres, when buying tyres search threads again for quiet tyres as that has been discussed on here more than just about anything, personally I'd stick with the Japan made Dunlop D8's but others have different views.... Good Luck Pete
  15. Hi Don't think any UK spec cars of that age had air suspension fitted, you have probably got an Import. I would think it would be cheaper to fit four coil springs to it than try to fix the air suspension, there are loads being broken on ebay, i'd take pics of your set up and go and look at a standard one to make sure you get the right bits, may need spring seats and retainers etc. Good luck Pete
  16. Can't seem to get too upset these days, a few years ago I would have been mad as hell, but hey what do we pay huge sums for insurance for??!! Thanks, she was very shaken up by it and very sorry, she phoned me about an hour later to check I was alright and was horrified when I told her how much damage had happened to it, I think she felt bad enough without me shouting at her.... Yeah I sure will, they have put down for a rear panel repair/replace and to check the floor, its a Lexus/Merc/BMW approved body shop who have a very good reputation so I'm sure it will be repaired properly.. Pete
  17. Hi A funny old day today..... Had an offer accepted on a house were buying, had my Discovery fail its MOT (only a rusty brake pipe).... then Sat in traffic with another Discovery behind me, drivers foot slipped off the clutch and she kangaroo hopped into the back of the Lexus, actually felt like four or five impacts before the Discovery stalled.... turned out she had just started driving it and was having trouble with its big pedals!!!! Anyway 1 1/2 tons of Discovery chugging into the back of the Lexus has written off the rear bumper and its strengthener, the whole rear panel, the boot lid, three out of the four light units and the reversing sensors !!! Doesn't look that bad but I expect the bill will be huge.... Oh well silver linings and all that, there were a few chips on the rear bumper where the previous owner must have had trouble with his golf clubs, judging by the number of t's found in the spare wheel well!!! What’s going to happen tomorrow??? Pete
  18. Backlight is a well know problem, use the search box and you will find advice, same goes for bonnet struts discs and pads.... most questions you have will have been answered before, just type in the search box and all will be revealed..... Good Luck and welcome to the forum Pete
  19. looking at the manual for the 430 it says, "use a trim removing tool to remove the trim" very helpfull, it looks like it is held on by a series of friction clips. At a guess tape around the old one then try to pull/prise it off straight up away from the car, if not then try asking a windscreen company, they must remove them all the time, shouldn't think it would be much of a job when you've got the tool and a bit of experience. Good luck Pete
  20. The only thing keeping you and your family alive on the roads are your brakes, buying "cheap" discs is false economy as well, they will warp and wear down fast as the metal they are made from will be sub standard and cheap. Much better to get "good value" discs, go to your local motor factor (found in yellow pages) and ask for OEM quality parts, they will be much cheaper than the dealer and of a good quality, don't forget you need new pads as well. Ask them for a trade price and they may give you them even cheaper. Good luck Pete
  21. Could be any number of reasons from the maf to injectors to ecu to coils etc, you will have to get the car checked by someone with test equiptment, expensive if you go to the dealers, don't know where "ca" is under your location so can't advise who to see... Good luck Pete
  22. I believe the sat nav gubbins is in the boot, a new front console may not fix it, If you really want to buy it then I would take all the carpet out of the boot including the back and sides and see what has got wet, in my 430 it is full of very expensive looking electrical bits.... There are various posts on here about a wet boot, its usually the boot seal or the sunroof drain pipes which get disconnected on the sides of the boot so the water runs into the boot instead of out the bottom of the car.... It should be very cheap and excellent elswhere to make it worthwhile fixing it.... Good luck Pete
  23. I believe they is a difference across the models, some will be the same but others will not, some american wheels do not fit UK spec cars because of the bigger calipers. The original parts will be made by one of the bigger brake firms anyway, go to a good motor factor and ask them for OE equivalent parts, ask to take out a trade cash acount and you will save even more. Good luck Pete
