  1. Ok Car was returned and the Jury's verdict below Mirror sorted even 50 Cent on full couldn't get a shake out of it, so well done on that one. Handbrake adjusted and seems easier to apply, but why point out that my car was outwith the VIN number that needed a MOD, is that supposed to make me feel better..??? Oh I get it.... YOU did ME, a favour!!! Cant add on the auto locking that the current model has even although mine is only 4 months old. Yes Sir we are well aware of the iratic idling but until Lexus can come up with an answer we can't sort it, this was explained to you this morning..... even the service manager has the same problem.... And for the finally the EGR valve needs a new Gasket, would you like to book it in between Christmas & New Year, but you can't get a courtesy car!!!... Oh and one last thing can we take £11.50 towards insurance for the courtesy car you had and did you replace the fuel you used???? Quality Customer Service.. I think not....
  2. Dropped the car off, have been told they are getting a lot of reports regarding the idling problem Lexus HQ are aware of the problem and working on a fix, asked if this will be another software upgrade and was told probably.... They did comment the same as Jamboo about the air-con but as it's hardly used can't be that.. They are going to call when car ready, told them as I have RX Hybrid call me next week... :)
  3. Wife drive ours most of the time driving is 90% town & 10% Motorway, getting around 37and that her still driving it like her old TT. One problem that has surfaced is the idle decides to shoot up when the temp gauge hits the quarter mark, on initial start up fine, sits at 900rpm then out of the blue engine decides to run at 1200rpm, best way to describe is like an automatic choke stuck on, similar to a Cavalier I owned 20 years ago. Going into Lexus Edinburgh tomorrow so will see what they come back with. Commented about only getting 37 on Urban and was told that the service managers car only gets 35 mpg. Other items to be looked at are changing mirror to one that doesn't dance to the music, software upgrade to add auto locking, and they are also going to look at the handbrake as wife can only get it to hold by using both hands, if it is one notch off the top won't hold fully on hills. Will be interesting to see what they can fix.
  4. imho 10,000 miles for a car of this standard is a joke... Previous TT told you when it needed a service... In my job I look after a lot of vehicles which includes citroen vans, the service intervals on these are 12,500 if driven hard (off road or fully laden most of time), if normal day to day running then 20,000 is the norm. Guess as they are company vehciles citroen don't want to sell the drivers anything...
  5. Think seatbelt warnings are a good thing.... You should always wear your seatbelt... I got rear ended whilst stationary when not wearing a seatbelt, the car in front stopped my car, the windscreen stopped my head and steering wheel stopped the rest of me. As for the shopping that was on the passenger seat it ended up in the footwell... Is there a lesson here? Yes don't put shopping on the passenger seat and wear a seatbelt... :)
  6. Is it something in the air with Mercedes dealers I experienced the exact same situation with the New Merc showroom in Edinburgh.... Not exactly the correct thing to do with a Lexus garage across the road.... but then had a similar issue with Lexus Edin a few weeks later so bought the car from Lexus Glasgow...
  7. Wife popped into Asda came back and 3 were missing well peeed off as car is only 2 weeks old... I got the locking ones from Fleebay for £7.21 including post pack... Go to ebay & Type in Lexus locking tyre valve caps £4.99 + post pack
  8. Just an observation and not sure about getting it fitted... If you look in the IS brochure under accessories you will see item F Bluetooth Hands Free System, the same system is available via Halfords only difference is that it has the Motorola motif instead of a Lexus one, cost is £99 Looks like it is made by Motorola so you may be able to source it cheaper.... someone else may tell you how much Lexus want to fit it. Also if you get it fitted after you have received the car it shouldn't affect your P11D. You may also ask your HR dpt about duty of care and ask them to fit it for you and pick up the tab.
  9. As Scorps said think it is aimed at the Chav Brigrade, as long as your not wearing a Burberry Cap, running with spots on, and have the subs kicking the windows out you should be ok...
  10. Is there a common mileage / age when this starts to happen or is it down to luck and what you clean your wheels with?
  11. Garage has come back and as a gesture of good will have offered to fit rear sensors for £350 should be £500 or Front & Rear for £500 should be £700. Know I could get them cheaper but don't know how this would affect warranty... Oh well Mrs will just need a wait bit longer for her number plate...
  12. Well the dead has been done and our new 220 SE has been delivered. Well chuffed with the comfort & smoothness, Sound system is top notch even without the MM upgrade. However on 2nd day the car is already booked into garage, whoever did the PDI did an excellent job of puting more scratches on the car than my record collection after a cat has danced all over it. Scratches on the OS Rear wing, front bumper (N/s), NS Wing and NS Mirror mount. Salesman told me that should be able to be removed by a machine polisher, not so sure but will wait and see. The car did come with the vibrating mirror, notably when the stereo is up loud or you try and accelerate in 6th below 70MPH. Wife is going to drive it 90% of the time and has asked about reversing sensors, I know that you can get LPA 400, does anyone know how much I should expect to pay to get these fitted aftermarket. Obviously as the car is going to get scrathces removed the fitting could be done a bit cheaper as a token gesture. Any info on the reversing sensor & mirror would be appreciated.
  13. Glad to see they included a geography lesson, how many people out there were unaware that Inverness & Perth were in Scotland, of course never to be confused with Perth in Australia (or is that the Sheila's wheels survey) Maybe whoever conducted the survey was unaware of the above facts and felt duty bound to inform us all, just to make her survey more credible... Oops didn't work, But as they say for another insurance company "Never mind dear it's just a commercial" sorry should have said survey not commercial.
  14. Picking up an Is220d SE tomorrow after moving out of a TT, looked at the following, Audi A4, BMW 3 series & Merc C Class. Car is for the wife to drive in and she is well chuffed. Audi A4 was the only serious contender but as it's due to get changed soon decided against it, also spec levels weren't the best, SLine special edition was the only one that came close and still had to spend money getting it to a similar level. Bmw was ok, but when you look at spending 3.5 grand to try to get a similar spec with items still missing is it worth it for BMW snobbery / status? I don't think so!! Ok may be a better car to drive but how often is the wife going see how fast it will do 0-60 and handle on a country road? Not very often if at all... The new C class is out and are hard to get hold of and you pay a premium for a car with not a lot in it. The lexus gave us everthing you could ask for. Smart looking car, comfortable interior, good residual and space in the back when a junior comes along. As it's brand new hopefully won't come with optional extra's of faulty 5th injector, shaky mirror & set of shakers behind the dash. At least don't remember asking for these to be added.
  15. I would recommend the AA, I work with a fleet of 1700 vehicles and we have recently switched to AA from RAC, AA offer better coverage and the RAC use more sub contractors. Response times so far have been quicker with the AA, this is something that is monitored on a monthly basis as we can't afford vehicles off the road. Most Manufacturers though go with the RAC, I believe this is because they are cheaper, we only pay when we call them out instead of taking out annual membership, not sure if Ford, Audi & Lexus have similar set up.
  16. Thanks Caspian wanted to make sure.... Maplin doing a Nickel plated one for £4.49 or an Ipod output to Aux plug for £14.49 Link for everyone below. Only 4 days to go before I pick up the 220 & join the Lexus Club officially. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criter...rce=15&SD=Y
  17. I have a Microfusion detector, works well & does what it is supposed to do. Camera's, schools, bad corners, etc. You also get free updates for life, you can add laser detection to it but IMO it's a waste of time, by the time it has picked up the laser there is a good chance you will already have been caught.
  18. I just traded in a 54 Plate TT and to be honest the only difference in price between a 54 & 04 was £300 according to What Car. Garage would have lowered trade in by £500 if I waited till Sept. Pick up 220SE on Saturday, one piece of advice is shop around I ended up getting a brand new 220 for the same price as a pre registered one. Trade in price is £12,350 and costing me £9950 to change. :D Happy Days..
  19. Could it be a sticking valve in the brake servo? had a similar problem a few years back with a Pug 406, left me with no servo assist & rock hard brake pedal.
  20. Something in the Air...? Also traded in a TT 34 months old with 30k on the clock, Ordered a Lexus 220DSE Cadoxan Slate with Beige interior. Price to change £10.5K sounds like a good deal to me as trade value for TT is £12K according to What car.. but if anyone knows better I bow to your knowledge.... Big change from the TT but it's for the wife not me....
