  1. Hi ,once your car has reached normal temp, don't open or loosen the pressure cap,the pressure cap,if OK will control the coolant level.if it is over fill,it will dump, until it reaches the correct level.all cooling systems build up pressure as the coolant expands and gets hot.quick way to see if the thermostat is working correct,is to feel both ,top and bottom rad hoses .if the bottom hose is cold, and the top ones hot ,u have a problem.if they are about the same ,then it is OK.i think u have sorted it out, just check the coolant level first thing in the morning, before running the motor. B) then add if u need to.cheers

  13. they may think twice when they discover that the £50k car they have brought is only worth the equivalent of an astra within a few years the high end expensive cars have always depreciated at a high rate, its going to be even higher now ! I think thats the point im trying to make, its one thing buying a car,its a different thing all together running the car.If i sold every thing i could proberly buy a old ferrari,if the gearbox went or water pump ect i would be stuffed. Hi guys, don't let the :tsktsk: grind u down.Life's too short, buy and drive what u love. The price on every thing WILL go up and we just screem and shout, but don't do anything about it.LIFE GOES ON and so do we.Enjoy what u worked hard for and :tsktsk: ,,,,,,.Anyway head up,smile, and never look back. All the best and take care

  18. The garage is called Westend Motors in Loughborough, Leicestershire. I assume (although don't quote me on it), that the convertor is bolted to the flywheel and there is a seal between the gearbox output shaft and the the torque convertor. I'm guessing it was this seal that has gone and they just replace it easily once the gearbox has been removed. Hi,the garage should take the convertor and box together, coz if u take the box out first, it :tsktsk: the seal, and yes that is the seal.anyway back to your eng oil leak, put a mirror at the back of the eng, there is a breather box, with rubber pipes, and when that leaks, the oil runs down the back and some how looks like the sump is leaking,so check that before doing the sump gasket. B) all the best

  20. Hi, just found some old notes in my work shop, and should help u.For models fitted with Toyota TCCS fuel systems;FAULT;Hesistation/poor acceleration;COMPONENT CHECK SEQUENCE;1. signal from self-diagnosis;2.air intake and vacuum systems for leaks; 3.injector valves;4.throttle valve/sticking/position/linkage/dashpot;5.air control valve;6.auxiliary air valve;7.fuel pressure/delivery rate/regulator;8.injection system conections/wiring/relays B) Phew!! that was awesome .... rich contents here... I dont know how to thank you but really it was great to receive the replies.... just to be on safe side before asking the mechanic to have a look into these potential problems areas, if its possible to get the clarification that the Spark Plugs, type of Fuel (I use 91, instead of 95) or Gear Box / Tranny? has got nothing to do / less to do with the power accellaration / hesitation, sluggish response? Also, on a quick note, if the 'N' Idle speed is around 500 & 'D' around 200, would that be one of possible route causes of Performance degradation? I find it very sluggish and it takes ages to cross 60km, the responsivness is really bad. However, once it crosses the 100km, the response becomes gradually better but only during the higher speeds.... Any idea? Thanks in Advance! I get the EML after crossing 1000RPM, and use 91 type fuel! your answer is really appreciated. Hi, just by reading this tells me,that set up of your throttle valve is incorrect.ATTENTION TO NUMER 4 AND 5.To set this up goes as follows;adjustment to throttle potentiometer, which is found on the throttle body.1 slacken throttle potentiometer retaining screws;2 insert 0,70mm feeler gauge blade between throttle stop bolt and lever;3 disconnect electic plug ,connect a ohmmeter between the 2 top electric pins which should be marked IDL AND E2; 4 Then turn throttle potentiometer clockwise until ohmmeter needle deflects; 5 then tighten retaining screws ,and it's done. B) all the best
