  1. So long and enjoy the new car...
  2. And the BMW was perfect, right.......... No, but BMW know how to treat customers! I am not saying Lexus are perfect although on the whole my experience with them has been pretty excellent. As a regular contributor to the forums it is quite clear that Lexus have a few issues with their first diesel and I am pretty confident that they will be resolved. However for all their mistakes they make BMW look like a bunch of amateurs when it comes to treating customers. In the past they have refused to return phone calls, ignored me in the showroom (in more than one dealership). When asking the salesman to explain the capabilities of the X5 we were told, "What do you want to know?", the salesman just was not interested in selling the car. Another time I wanted to take a test drive in a 325 but they just didn't get back to me to arrange the drive. In the end an email to BMW customer service got them moving. But it was all too late and I was more than happy to give my hard earned cash to Lexus (again).
  3. Have to echo all that has been said about the IS Auto box - it is simply the best. Super smooth and very economical. And for the times when you want to use the gears simply flip it into S-mode and use the paddles. As far as auto boxes go it is one of the finest out there.
  4. Thanks for the replys. Will take a look and see which is the best value. Think the Auto Glym might work out cheapest. At the moment there is no 2 for 3 offer on. I think that ended in May.
  5. Just nipped to Halfords at lunchtime, saw three metal polishes, two by Auto Glym: one in a tube (5.99) one in a bottle (6.99) and some by Meguiars for 7.99. I've heard Meguiars do good stuff but wondered if any one has used this stuff. Didn't see any for 2.99...
  6. :winky: Nice one - will pick one up on the way home tonight!
  7. how I can keep my exhaust looking like this? That is how they looked when I bought the car but I know that when I first looked at the car they were slightly tarnished. Can anyone recommend any products or practices?
  8. Wow you drove from Birmingham to Scotland to look at a car! I just had to nip to Leicester - a round trip of about 30 miles! Regardless of distance its a great feeling when you find the right one! As you say the car is a dream, bullet proof reliability and that roof, just love the feeling as it glides over head. I had read reports of a poor ride with the SC but I've never understood what is meant by this. The car rides perfect to me.
  9. transfers of cherished reg`s from the original vehicle have to be done by post, last time, (november 06) it took me around 6 weeks !!, in the mean time i couldnt sell the vehicle nor pick up the new one until the paperwork arrived 6 weeks??!! I've just started to transfer mine off the old vehicle to the new one! Didn't realise it would take so long. Ah well...
  10. Hi LexBoy, not sure of the law perhaps you could contact Citizens Advice. It might help if you explain what this is in relation to. Have you paid a deposit on a car and now want it back? I put a deposit on a new IS before they were released but it was on the understanding that I could get it back if I wasn't happy when I saw the car in the flesh. Later on the dealer started to pressure me into confirming the spec the car, still before I saw it but if I had done that I wouldn't get a refund of the deposit if I later did not want the car. At that point I asked for a refund.
  11. Looks very nice but have to admit I am not a big fan of those wheels, sorry... It is early days yet but I am loving the car.
  12. The seats of the IS are supposed to be extremely comfortable so any kind of lump which causes one discomfort should be reported to the dealer. Rest assured these seats were designed with the fuller figure in mind (i.e. the American market ) so you shouldn't need to start on the Atkins just yet.
  13. I noticed a few "chips" on a couple of alloys shortly before the first service (probably had the car around 7 months) and they replaced them all. It wasn't that bad and would certainly fall into the minor category. With my IS200 I didn't even notice the corrosion and the dealer replaced them all (including the spare which had never been used) at the 20K service.
  14. Eunos I am pretty sure that the area around the gear shift lever should be illuminated. Not sure if this only came on when the lights are on. Thanks Saracen - I thought so, but not sure :-) PS see you have the SC now not the IS250 - didnt you have 2 x IS250s at one time ?? Yes picked up the SC yesterday and loving her But hating the bad weather and all the rain - I want to take my top off! I've only every had one IS250 which I bought at the end of '05, chopped it for the SC.
  15. This is not a full answer but I was on the M42 in very slow moving traffic and noticed that an IS220 crawled by and the IS220d badge had been removed. Because we were moving slowly I could see that there was no marking on the paintwork so perhaps your dealer is telling porkies... Just out of curiosity and not a criticism but why would you want to remove the badges? Most people who know Lexus would know that it was a diesel just by looking at the exhaust configuration.
