I'm intrigued with the comment that the pre-cat isn't classed at a cat in the MOT test. Surely so long as the tail pipe emissions meet the right level (ie. they are below the limit) it doesn't matter if the front or the rear catalyst is doing the work?
Also a question - does the IS200 have five O2 sensors as the IS300 does?
right i knew id get silly questions.......
if you remove the main cat it will fail as the main cat has to be seen also the main cat does 95% of the cleaning
you remove the main cat and keep the pre cats it will fail the emissions....
remove the precats and keep the main cat it will pass the emissions...
it has 3 sensors
the mot wording
Reason for Rejection
An exhaust system not adequately supported.
A major leak of exhaust gases from any part of the system.
A catalytic converter missing where one was fitted as standard
they would work on front or rear never heard such poop...free or not i would never run thinner tyres than what were on the car as standard....wider yes...
infact in 16 years of working in the trade ive never heard such a thing...in fact ive taken a screen shot for the boys at work just for giggles
this thread is 7 years old!!!!!!!!!!!
em and they have just made a fool of them selfs with that rant...im out!!! tend not to argue with people that dont know their cars and were they come from....oh heres on......the altezza was a cheap version of the 200 to get younger people in to toyotas as the is200 was more expensive..
and due to the gearing they are not much quicker in the real world...
only the main cat comes into this the pre cat doesnt..
also the engine management light will NOT be coming in to the mot p/s will as will the air bag..
since ive been a tester you cant remove bulbs to get through the mot as it tells you on the vt40 whats fitted to the car and how long the lights stay on for..ive been testing around 5 years
the pre cat isnt classed as a cat when it comes to mot.....and thats from our vosa boy..as stated i am a mot tester hence the reason i get to talk to vosa
so far every one is wrong on the mot fail part.......but it depends on the cats you mean to what affect it has on the mot the pre cats you can do away with but the main cat under the car needs to be their...
theirs 2 pre cats which are part of the manifold which would involve a replacment manifold(you will get no fault lights doing this)i have one fitted....slightly better throttle response and a change in exhaust note
the main cat you will need a 02 sim and it will fail an mot....not much gain at all so little its not worth doing
em no...if you think mines mental you should see the mans above...we were almost side by side going to a meet when he booted it it made so much noise i thought something had fell off my car then he was just a dot miles away!!!
stav get a video up
not been on the rolling road yet mate but going to soon....ive got the larger intercooler, decat manifold, induction kit
ive got a black box to be fitted and a larger pulley....it can shift around 6 secs to 60
the drive by
mate i almost fell off my seat laughin sorry the rx8 is NOT a good car in fact they are shocking and worth nothing now and very expensive if anything goes wrong..
yes the charger is 2k then you have fitting(i do all my own work)but in my eyes it was well worth it just the noise alone is worth it ill post a video up

that thread is seven years old and as said no one gave any rolling road results..i know some one thats selling a daztec chip for an is200 for around £120..it was fitted to his before he supercharged it..
Did you build your Lexus up over time or did you do all the mods in one go looks great by the way
hi mate it took me around 3 years to find all the bits,i could have got bits like the body kit sooner but i didnt want any fiberglass on my car.chargers are hard to come by aswell so that took time...
and cheers mate only recent mod is tinted front windows and im wondering what to do next..lol
if you can get that amount of power from a pannel filter and exhaust i wouldnt have bought a charger..
you will be lucky to see 5 bhp with an exhaust and panel filter and you will not notice that either..the only way you can get power from these engines is through supercharging or turboing........
as for a 300 with more toys em depends on the 200's spec if you have the sport the 200 has a lsd and most of what the 300 has...
think all the 200 sport is missing is hid lights which can be fitted and a auto box(regardles of the buttons on the steering wheel)which i hate i just dont do autos
as an mot tester this mod isnt illegall as all lights still work you have just added more functions to the ones youve got......
i also have the ones on the boot that flash when i brake along with the high level which flashes too
i wasnt talking about the one on ebay.....the one i knew of was highly polished not just the charger the whole kit(almost mirror'd)came with the blow off valve and lots of other goodies and was £500 cheaper....
good company mate and looks a very nice manifold....and its cheap....one thing i will say is it WONT fail the mot as the cats on the manifold are pre cats..the main cat is under the car..
