  1. I'm fairly sure the owner of this forum is called Steve (not our 'own' steve2006 :) ) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/user/1293-steve/
  2. Sometimes when things look to good to be true, they are! I have never received the parts I paid for. I've sent him several emails to request the status of my parcel. No reply at all so had to go through Paypal to get my money back. Avoid Ebay seller dan.mk2 !!
  3. A very interesting read indeed. Makes me proud to own a 25 year old Ls400 :)
  4. I also agree that Ian Duncan Smith should take up fishing and maybe a game of bingo every fortnight rather than sitting in Westminster. I seem to have open a can of worms here, I didn't start this topic to have a discussion about who's wrong or right. Maybe it's best if admin deletes this topic and we all continue to post about the many, many faults of the Lexus Ls :)
  5. I did post pics of the car including registration all over Facebook :) And no, it did not have a blue badge displayed. In reply to a post - I see people without badges park in disabled bays at Asda, or other public car parks all the time. To park in a designated disabled space in a small, private car park, far away from the main road and at a dead end which has large signs saying 'RESIDENT PARKING ONLY', tops my list of inconsideration, anti social behaviour and simply being a selfish ****. amen :)
  6. I did put a not-so polite note on their windscreen including my house number, which was still there untouched when we went out this morning. When we got back home a few hours later, the car was gone so unfortunately I never got to talk to the owner :(
  7. Not really Ls400 related so if not acceptable please delete. Tonight I was infuriated by a Honda civic driver who thinks it is acceptable to park in my wife's private disabled space. I live in a very, very small rural village in Scotland and, as one of the most picturesque village in the whole of Scotland, we have around a million visitors a year. Our cottage is on the edge of the village and has a private car park at the rear which is clearly marked, with several signs saying RESIDENT PARKING ONLY. And if that wasn't enough my wife has a designated disabled space there. The poor woman(only 43) has a hip problem and nearly died of kidney failure at the beginning of the year so now has to have 5 days of dialysis a week. Yet some incredible low life parked his ****ty civic in her disabled spot. Oh now comes the Lexus part :) I have parked my Ls400 1 inch away from the civic's rear bumper and left a note on their windscreen. There's no way they can leave without knocking my door :)
  8. Cheers for that Steve. I figured I wouldn't have a code as the EML is not lit. I'm hoping to use the OBD1 app to get some live data to see if there is anything amiss.
  9. There is only 1 or 2 companies that can remap the lexus ECU. 1 of them is Mines. remapping a non-turbo charged car won't see much gain in the first place. The most popular way of adding power to the 400/430 engine is by adding a turbo or supercharger. Be prepared to spend a few grand when doing this. ITB's (individual Throttle Body) is also an option, but less used
  10. My LS runs a bit rough between 1400 and 1600 rpm. The engine is bucking and feels like a misfire. Let off the throttle or press it and its smooth again. This only happens at steady speed and only between above rpm. Any other steady speed is fine :eerrrmm: I have an OBD1 reader on it's way, but was hoping anyone might know what it is.
  11. I must agree with Malc here. leaking a/c is merely an inconvenience and can be sorted at any time. It does not affect the way the car drives. I can understand the frustration you get when getting no-where when you're trying to fix something. Take a deep breath, focus on the house renovation for now and get back to the issue at a later stage. I have told you before to message a few breakers on ebay. Take a picture of the part and send that to them to identify. I'm fairly sure you'll regret selling the Ls just because of a minor inconvenience.
  12. My engine bay looks pretty much similar. I don't know why Lexus thought it was a good idea to fit a plastic cover over so much beauty......
  13. I have mentioned it few times in different topics.... It always pays to message the guys who are breaking a ls400 The gear knob and steering wheel on my 1990 ls400 are very worn. Either a bad leather dye or it has been driven by a guy with hands like sand paper. Also the original Lexus floor mats were missing Messaged a guy on ebay breaking a same year as mine He sent me pics of the parts so now I have a pretty much mint gear knob and steering wheel plus a lovely set of lexus mats and all that for £35 posted. Result! and also a very nice guy to deal with
  14. Maybe needs a bit of tidying up inside, but looks very nice for the money http://www.gumtree.com/p/lexus/1990-lexus-ls400-4.0-v8-quadcam-auto-full-years-mot/1127169136
  15. Welcome Steve :) I'm sure you'll feel right at home . A good bunch of people on here.
  16. I bought the one on Ebay for about £21 - it's utter rubbish though. Cheap material and will need quite a bit of modifying to securely fit the tablet. I've spoken to a guy from the US who had bought a double din fascia over there and the quality seems to be the exact same.
  17. Of all the Ls400s I have owned (quite a few) I have never encountered a leaking a/c system. There are a few guys on ebay breaking one so it might be an idea to message a few for the part you need.
  18. Power steering leaking is a common issue on the early Ls and, if left, can 'fry' the alternator as it is located directly below. There are many topics about this. Are the ECU capacitors replaced? Bad / leaking caps can cause gearbox issues as well.
  19. In a nutshell, yes that's it, but the options are endless really. I have an app installed that connects to the ECU, another one to give me satnav
  20. Getting an equalizer which will connect to the tablet through headphone jack. 1 amp to run the door speakers. ( I hope to use the existing wires) and 2nd amp for the sub. Will be getting rid of the stock sub and fit an 8" free air sub.
  21. :) On the left is a tablet, on the right a double din fascia. Preparing to install a tablet in place of the stereo
