  1. Decision made. I'm keeping both! Ordered the solenoid repair kit and ordered 4 new tyres for the Celsior as well. She's spoiled :)
  2. Good job on the progress and glad you are well again. Re: Benfur - I've contacted him as well last week and haven't heard anything back either .... I hope he is well
  3. I would give all front bushes and ball joints a thorough check before throwing any money at parts that might not be the cause of the knock. Mine was knocking too when going over bumps and braking and that was due to worn bushes in the upper control arm.
  4. I guess it depends what kwikfit you go to. I'm friends with the local kwikfit manager and he was a 1st class Toyota mechanic before he became a manager at kwikfit. I must admit that I only let him work on my car and not anyone else of this staff :)
  5. Update: Satnav unit arrived today and it's a no go. one socket on the PCB is different so the plug won't fit. I've had a look at both circuit boards but it's not just the connector that's different :( Back to the drawing board.........
  6. Maybe the decision has been made a bit easier - the celsior has developed the dreaded 'click' :( Then again, it's only a £13 part and it's just time I'm investing to fix it...hmmm...problem remains :)
  7. I'm pretty sure there is no switch to disable this. Also not sure if it can be done through software. Maybe, if the soft closing system is on a single fuse or relay, you can take this out.......
  8. I managed to get one from a guy breaking a mk1 on ebay. Always worth a check. And indeed, they are extremely rare.
  9. AH! Excellent. I am expecting to be pulled over by dozens of desperate buyers from now on :)
  10. LPG is nice, but I live quite rural and my nearest LPG filling station is about 30 miles away...... Maybe I should keep both.....
  11. It is a fairly nice position to be in, I agree. Maybe I'll just put the VVTi engine in the mk1 ... :)
  12. @ Malc I did the upper control arms 2 months ago on the mk1, just did them this afternoon on the Celsior. Cam belt mk1 was changed less than a year ago(non interference engine) No record of a cam belt change for the Celsior. The underneath of the mk1 is spotless - no rust anywhere.
  13. Points taken, but what about value? My mk1 is in a near mint condition. The Celsior not so much at present. It will need money spent on it to get the exterior looking as good as the mk1
  14. It should say on the inside of your wheel ET followed by a number is your offset And yes, 18" is still 7.5
  15. Not yet. I have bought a Ls400 satnav unit which hopefully arrives tomorrow. Being without satnav is not too bad, but not being able to switch on or control the fan, a/c etc is quite annoying. No rush with the caps. Ian is going to fit them for me and he's away to Australia for a month :) Count: MKIV - 1 MK1 - 0
  16. I'm in the process of getting the recently purchased 1999 Celsior with LPG back on the road. It needs a few things for the MOT which are on order. I don't intend to keep both. Which one do you guys suggest I keep? 1990 MK1 or 1999 Celsior with LPG?
  17. I've had a few pajeros from that era, but none of them had curtains? Maybe the previous owners fitted them in their bedroom :)
  18. Well yes, but here in the UK the driver is directly linked to the car. In Europe not so much
  19. If you spray it yourself make sure to wet sand the clear coat (after it has dried of course :) ) Then machine polish it and it'll look as good as the factory paint
