  1. Ill definately take one at that price Ruud. Always thought it a same that mine doesnt work. And thanks from me for putting the time and effort.
  2. Ruud.. I havent had this problem but it can only one of a few things. 1 The engine isnt coming up to temp. 2 The hot water isnt flowing into the matrix in enough volume. 3 The matrix is partially blocked/respricting flow. 4 The air from the blower is being prevented from flowing through the matrix. Id still expect the air flow to be hot though, if a little low on volume. You have flushed the matrix. Im guessing the engine is reaching temp or you would have spotted that. And you say the air is only warm so not point 4. I think there isnt enough hot water getting into the matrix. Either because its mixed with air or there is an obstruction in the cooling system. Im wondering if some cr*p has been disturbed when the system was flushed and refilled last time. It can happen. I had a Fiat Pannarama years back with a fist sized hole rusted straight through the radiator. It didnt leak a drop, just sealed it self up with rust as is went. There most have been load of rust floating around in the system.
  3. Its definately not the fan; its a creaking/groaning/scraping. I've had in my mind that its a vent opening or closing but as you say it could be my age I was meaning the cars age but now that we have established that you are a great age, maybe you should have a nice snooze and a Worthers Original. Sorry Steve. Couldnt resist.
  4. Squealing brakes usually means that part of the brake assembly is vibrating. Usually the brake pads. The common cure for this is a smear of copper grease over the back/metal pate of the new brake pads. Although i would have assumed that your garage would have done this already. Woerth asking them though. Some brake assemblies also incorporate anti squeal plates or springs. The replacement of these, on reassemble, may have been missed. Causing the brakes to squeal.
  5. I have noticed over the past year or so that the heater fan is getting noisier. At least i think it is. On the Med and High speed its the only thing i can hear in the car. I just thought it was age and maybe getting a bit dry. Maybe you could lubricate the bearings or something. Just an idea.
  6. sounds like they used Mild curry powder in stead of Hot madras curry powder when they refilled the coolant.
  7. Ruud. Is this the "new" silver LS you are talking about? with only 37k miles on the clock im wondering if you are having problems because it hasnt been used enough. The reason i ask is that after seeing your low mileage LS i had it in mind to actively look out for one myself. The intention being to replace my 184k mile LS rather than put right all the little niggles it has. Things like rusted exhaust flanges, LCD teperature and clock screen, tired rear suspension, EGR pipe and whining PAS pump. Im now wondering if a im better off repairing my well run in LS and have it LPGed. A "newish" 93 LS would seem the ideal car to me otherwise.
  8. Having same issue w/09 Maxima. Thick oil like fluid coming from underside of door. Caramel colored, no taste. I'm taking the door apart tomorrow to investigate. I will post my finding. It definitely is not sweets. Did you ever solve your problem? Tick oil like fluid, caramel coloured? That sounds like the anti rust gloop sprayed onto the inside of the doors as factory rust proofer. Ive been up to my elbow inside a few car doors trying to fix this or that over the years (not Lexus) and always come out covered in caramel like goo. Im guessing that the heat in Texas is enough to get the gloop moving and thus coming out of the bottom of the door. Keep us updated. Good luck.
  9. Thanks Sir John :) I intend to keep this one for a long time. Like you said, low mileage ones are very scarce. If you ever want to sell it let me know. Personally, i think its the best looking model and colour.
  10. What an absolute beauty. Looks like mine looked about 150,000 miles ago. I am amazed there are still some 94 LSs about with so few miles. Id love to find one and run it for ever. Mine is a silver 93 LS with 183k on the clock. And the suspension is starting to show its age with a few creaks and clunks from that back and i think the front. Now ive seen your new beauty, im on the hunt for a similar time warp bargain. Well done Ruud. Bargain.
  11. Hi Mark. Well I've got my engine cover back, they simply forgot to clip it on and I'm much happier. So please disregard my earlier post... It's a full flashlube system and done by a good installer, I went to a lot of effort to find someone reputable and then I borrowed a car for a couple of days that they had converted. I agree with you that it runs smoother on gas than it does on petrol, I must admit it's the first thing I noticed when I originally collected it. I was hoping for better economy than I'm getting but I think part of the problem is that when you know you're only paying half the price of petrol, you tend to have a heavier right foot. Best wishes, Dave. Less MPG on LPG than petrol: i did some research last year when i was thinking of having mine converted(Still thinking/no money). I spoke to a lot of installers and the upshot is that you can expect about 20% less MPG on LPG because LPG has a lower calerific value than petrol. In simple terms, there is less energy in LPG than petrol so your engine burns more of it. Simples!
  12. Now isn't that nicer than a nasty old 4x4. PS; have you thought about swapping it for a nice Rover 75 diesel estate? I know where there is one!
  13. Its the cruise control cable that still has the slack in it. about 10 mm. Should i ajust the slack out of it?
  14. Due to a missfire under load issue I have just removed and cleaned out the TB. I checked the spark plugs at the same time. I noticed the 3 cables were all slack when i removed them and putting them back they still were of course. I have ajusted the the slack out of the throttle cable but the one at the side of it, the cruise control cable i think, still has about 10mm of slack in it. Should i ajust the slack out of this as well????
  15. CIS for me. Im 47, only 2 years NCB becasue i used to be in contract hire cars, and business use. £320 fully comp. You wont find then on any compare website though. I dont agree that all insurance companies are the same though. They are only as good as their claims handling. The CIS (co-op Insurance Society)are brilliant and very fare. I was rear ended sept 09. they handled everything. The car was badly repaired so i complained. So they sent it to another garage to be fixed all over again. My rear screen shattered 2 months later. They paid out another £928 for a new one. My last renewal went down. I couldnt beleave it. Try the CIS.
  16. and if it is leaking, fix it now before it gets too bad. Mine leaked a bit; topped it up. Leaked a bit more; topped it up. etc etc Then Dumped it all in one go. a new "o" ring and replacement pipe will take you no more than an afternoon or so.
  17. :winky: Beleive it or not, I did. Really nice car but not a Lexus. If you start an "I have a problem" thread on their forum, its on page 4 in a couple of days. Anything can go wrong, probably will, more than once and very often. It lives in my workshop until i can sell it. My baby is back on the road. B)
  18. LPG is still about 65p against £1.29.9 a litre for unleaded. I think you need to shop around before cancelling your order. There are web sites that have the best LPG prices apparently. As for the "Green" electric cars; Its smoke and mirrors. The electricity comes from somewhere and thats a power station. Not that green after all. Better to buy a car that will last for 20+ years. Now thats green. (actually mines silver)
  19. Hi Mike. Failing Mass Air Flow sensor is a big problem on the Rover 75 CDT engine. Their forum is full of threads. Apart from replacement, there are plenty of Rover owners who claim that they have successfully cleaned a MAF sensor with Isopropal alcohol. Thus restoring the cars performance. You can but it cheaply on the internet. Its the stuff you get on a little bottle when you buy a Head Cleaner kit for a casette player. Some people slosh the MAF around in it. Others use a soft artist brush. This is only a suggestion. I havent tried it myself yet. PS: dont buy a Rover.
  20. A quick update.. just back from the 660 mile weekend trip. 6 shots of Redex through the engine and still misfiring and low on power under load. I can just feel a slight misfire cruising down the motorway but it wont accelerate on the motorway as it should. Looks like the Redex didnt work and a service and throttle body cleanout is on the cards. Having said all that: its still smoother than any other car, even with the misfire :P
  21. Id walk away. I have a theory that most older cars get sold because they have become troublesome. Lots of really good LS`s about.
  22. Hi steve. Hopefully you are right. If so, all i have to fix is the indirect steering habit and wondering sensation.
  23. Running out of time this week to get it into the workshop and follow uop on everyones advice etc but i was out in the LS seeing clients today and it didnt miss a beat. Ive given it a double shot of Redex today anyway and ill give it another double when i get to Suffolk on friday (she`ll be empty by then and needing a fill up).
  24. Nice, love the attitude. Its no wonder I hardly ever come on this site anymore. Thanks for ALL the ideas. I appreciate both your responses (steveskeggy and manc) and opinions as to the likely causes and cures. Not forgetting Royt`s sugestion of course. Damp Disi caps are not good news. steveskeggy; im sure manc meant no offence and i hope you continue to be active on the forum. Our community of enthusiastic owners who are interested in helping each other is extremely valuable to us all. I didnt get time to look into it at the weekend but i will in the next couple of day; we are on a 660 mile round trip at the weekend. Thanks again for all who responded.
  25. Thanks for the link. I bought a fuel filter last time i serviced the old girl but didnt fit it because it looked like a faff. I still have it but the tank is full just now. So i will do that when ive exhausted everything else. HT leads was my first thought though. As for perished rubber pipes: they all look good as nnew. Im also gonig to get something called "air induction cleaner" or something like that.. A mechanic told me about it. Apparently its an airasol that you spray into the air intake.?
