  1. Hi all, I am absolutely gutted, last night my pride and joy IS300 which I spent days/weeks polishing and waxing/servicing and getting pampered like no other car I had before was hit by a stolen car been chased by the police. Luckily the car was parked and I wasn't in the car at the time, but my heart sank to bottom of the ocean when i saw the damage. So I am asking 1) Does anything think it is economically repairable by the insurance company? 2) In the years I have been driving I have never claimed any car insurance in my life before, can anyone please tell what is the process now? I am still shaking as I type this.... just gutted :(
  2. I tried Japarts, but they don't have stock, they have to get it from Toyota. However it seems for Denso part no DOX-0205 is a direct replacement for Toyota 8946553210, if someone can confirm??? then I will be a happy bunny since it is only £62 without using Universal O2 Denso sensor where I have to splice wire.
  3. The one you mention on ebay is this item number 310590106083, as it say for 89465-53150 8946553150, or you think it will still work since the part I got off Toyota was 8946553210. I just called lexus Croydon, £163+vat parts only, so I definitely need help to source it to fix this P0141.
  4. Thank for your help I got the part number (8946553210) no it was just for parts, because I called the local toyota dealer parts department thinking it will be a cheaper route.
  5. Hi all, got a P0141 fault today on the IS300, for the Bank 1 Sensor 2 O2 sensor, got a quote from toyota and its £196, ouch... does anyone know where I can source a new part without splicing wires if I get a generic Denso, but at a better pricing?
  6. I too saw the caliper from carparts4less but wasn't sure if it would fit. Hence I started looking at Bigg Red to get mine refurbished. They charge £193 for the both driver and offset pair. However it will have a polymer - oven cured finish. Major problem is I have to send mine in to get it refurbished, and I don't really want my car to be on jacks for 2 weeks on the street. Thanks ravi I think I will go down the carparts4less route too.
  7. Thanks I will get a pair of these from ebay. The shakes only occur when the brakes or car is warm up, like after a few repeated brake application. The first couple of brake application, even at 40+ doesn't give the shakes. Could this still still be worn suspensions or warp disc?
  8. Looking for some advise, I guess my front calipers are sticking, driving at 40+ mph and the front wheel shakes like a verticle movement, and if the brakes are warm up, then braking from 40+ will cause the steering wheel to shake left and right. Can anyone confirm if these are the sighs of a sticking caliper. I found from the forum, Biggred will do caliper refurbishment but however they don't do swap and replace for the IS300 calipers so I have to send mine in. The question is if I have offset and driver side calipers off. Is there a way to stop the brake fluid from dripping, since Biggred said will need 9-11 days to refurbish. Thanks
  9. I have the Grom Audio unit, the good is OEM look and bluetooth to phone for calls/audio. Bad is sometimes if I turn the ignition on too quickly and got the car started, seems like the Grom unit doesn't have enough time to startup maybe, then the CD changer unit doesn't recognise the Grom. The only way to resolve is to turn car off and on. Since it is bad to turn a cold car on and off, so you end up with listening to CDs and radio for the trip.
  10. I am so sorry to hear, you sure don't have a spare valet key somewhere else hidden in the house? Because I had a similar issue at the beginning of the year, I got a toyota/lexus auto locksmith to comes, he got this black box that connects to the odb2 port and there he cancelled my remaining master and valet key, he gave me back both keys to try to lock the car, didn't work. Then he re-programmed it using this box, and followed some procedure. Maybe worth a try, if you still have a spare key for the barrel. Otherwise a cheaper option is to go via after-market immobiliser with by-pass for the lexus immobiliser, and with remote key start. When I did the quote up, this option was cheaper than getting a scrap car with all the barrels and ECU, then getting someone to install it.
  11. Yes get the plastic case off ebay, and transfer the transponder across, you might need to get your local key cutters to do a copy of the key.
  12. The only time it has ever happened to me what when I was viewing to buy an is300. I rev(ed) the accelerator to test the engine, and the pedal was stuck fast, luckily the car was still in Park mode, so immediate reaction was to turn it off. When I open the door and looked between the carpet and the accelerator, I noticed that the pedal was stuck on the carpet, the carpet was not oem, as it was just the regular rectangular shaped, but it was a thick good quality carpet. Maybe the thickness has something to do with it, or because it is not original, there was lots of movement for the carpet, and somehow I must have pushed it up and close to the accelerator to get stuck. Upon the test drive I removed the carpet and no more stuck accelerator :) but of course, I didn't buy the car after the fright ! So maybe try to remove the carpet as first step
  13. the 1st generation is arguably more secure than the new generation of cars with keyless start, since we still have a proper key. If you are really concern then buy a DiskLok and keep it in the boot, whenever you park in a dodgy area then put it on, even as a visual deterrent
  14. not really new, I have been using bluetooth via my android phone to grom connected to the stock unit for nearly a year. The only problem I find is bluetooth streaming music really drains the battery on the phone, but the positives are phone calls and satnav all stream via the stock audio unit.
  15. same thing happened here, instead of get rid of my IS300 I got a Honda Stream 60k for 1500. It now serve the supermarket run (door ding) and cental London parking (Scraps) and I keep the IS300 for the weekend enjoyment. I recently did a few airport run with 5 onboard, the Honda managed to fit 8 full size suitcases, Amazing, the IS300 would be lucky to fit 2, but then why would I because I might scratch the interior of the lexus.
  16. If it is connected to bluetooth, you can change track using the stock stereo while in the middle of a song too. Its an easy install, just make sure you tape the edge of the plastic dash, and take it again and again, the back of the stereo is razon sharp against the dash. Yes it makes a soft beep via the car speakers when bluetooth is connected.
  17. I find with my Grom, if I turn key to on then immediately start the car, if im in a hurry, then the Grom is never recognised by the stereo, no matter what you do it won't work, you have to turn off/on the car, to get it working. However, if I turn the key to On, wait say 5s, taking the time to put on seat belt, open up the wing mirror, then start the car, then the grom kit will work everytime.
  18. There is 2 parts to programming the Lexus 3 button key, you have only programmed the immobiliser part, hence the car starts, but the buttons don't work. You have to complete the Lock/Unlock door dance now to program in the 3 buttons !
  19. I too have the Grom bluetooth kit, and I use it for both audio and phone calls. All I can is a simple setup and all cables are provided in the install kit. The bluetooth phone will auto pair when ignition is switched on. Only gripe is, you do have to slowly turn on the ignition wait for a few seconds before turning it on. If you can in a hurry, then it seems the grom is not initialised or something, therefore the Lexus CD player don't detect the CD-changer which is the Grom kit.
  20. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym2 if you want to give it a treat or Uniroyal rainsport2 with a higher load index are both really both good tyres. Only issue I have with the Uniroyal is the minimal rim protector.
  21. Thanks for all the replies, had a locksmith came yesterday to cancel all the keys, but to re-program all the keys with a new code, he needed to connect his machine to the odb2 port to wipe and re-program with a new code. Now just needed to pickup a disklok for the steering wheel and hopefully gain that peace of mind back. Now need to search for a spare key, is ebay the best route, or anyone in the forum has a spare with transponder I can buy off?
  22. I have called around 3 car locksmiths and only 1 will deal with Lexus. The lexus dealer was an overkill, as it is changing all the locking mechanism. I have just booked a local car locksmith to re-programme the immoboliser keys for £80+vat, and they said after the re-program it will stop the stolen master key from working. I will test this with the valet key I guess. I will also get a better steering lock like "Disklok" as a backup. I will get the garage to install the kill switch next time the car is in the garage. Q: where is the best place to get a spare master key+cutting, Lexus dealer will be too expensive, they wanted £200 for the key + programming cost extra. Anyone tried to re-program their keys with this instructions. http://www.isfanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3304 but it doesn't seem to change the immobiliser code right, if you need the master key to program other keys. Meaning, if I follow these instructions will it stop my stolen master key from working? The process is almost like
  23. Hi everyone, I had the unfortunate incident of getting my house broken into and had the 2002 lexus is300 spare master key taken. I have contacted Lexus dealer and they wanted 2300£ for the new ECU, immoboliser and key lock.. meaning it will be a write off by the insurance :( I am in living fear currently for the car and getting robbed again. I have a steering lock on the steering wheel and its parked off the main street. Can anyone please advise a cost effective route to take. I have read a similar thread for an IS200.. but like some advise. Will re-coding the immobiliser with the master key + valet key stop the stolen master key from working? Anyone tested it? I know if the immobiliser/alarm is on, and you have the right key and tries to unlock the driver door, the alarm will go off, so I think I can live with the same key barrel. Or any advise would be most appreciated.
  24. I have recently started to get err1 on CDs as well thats why last weekend i installed the Grom Audio unit, very nice it now streams music via bluetooth from phone to stereo unit. The heated seat is just a tray, so pull towards yourself and it will be out.. but remember if you are doing the audio, tape and re-tape again the dash, the metal hinges weights a tonne and while you moving around the cables to get the unit out, unless you have taped the area well, it will scratch the dash.
  25. http://my.is/forums/f63/is300-aux-mod-341142/ this is the link i followed to install the Grom audio kit
