  1. Toyota Century for me the ultimate in quietness and refinement!

  3. Can anyone remember the yard which this was being held at? I am trying to track the car and Copart head office have asked me to contact the yard without telling me which it was. Thanks
  4. I have contacted Japex and they replied; Thank you for your enquiry. As a general rule we do not fit customer supplied parts. We are unable to provide a warranty on any work carried out using customer supplied parts therefore this would put us in a position that breaches their statutory rights as a consumer. Sorry we could not help you at this time.
  5. Actually Mark rethinking this I believe you could be right. Have you used them?
  6. I have ordered the Aisin kit with waterpump etc. from Rockauto with a Serpentine belt also, £195 including everthing. I don't know if I read it on this forum but I remember a garage specialising in our V8's cambelt change but searching for hours I have come up with nothing. I think it was near the top of London (not very helpful) maybe Oxfordshire? Any recommendations would be helpful.
  7. The Devil Is In The Detail (Birmingham) he has a Facebook page and he is one of the best he won't let you have the car back until he's happy with it. He did Four stage paint correction on my Mercedes and it was perfection.
  8. I would leave alone any car that has sat for a long time as cars need to be run and seals, hoses etc. break down after time.
  9. There is one on front and one on rear as aforementioned but if using genuine Lexus pads the rear ones don't have a channel to place the sensor in. This is probably as the newer pads are used for many different models this was how it was in about 2017 anyway. I have wrapped the wires from the rear sensor together and wrapped them in electricians tape and have kept them out of the way of moving parts.

  11. You make a good point there Michael about buying a battery with amp h above the standard for your car it makes everything easier (starting, load etc) and the battery is likely to last much longer. I have an Exide premium on mine and it does me very well.
  12. A journey tonight of a quarter of a mile and starting out at 1200rpm by the time I had reached my destination it was 900rpm and the heater had kicked in. The temperature sensor had obviously been misreading for some time as I had always wondered why the heating took so long to turn on, and I am talking as long as I can remember and I have owned the car for nearly five years. My car has 216,000 miles on it so it could have been the original sensor but the point is if your car is staying at high revs too long or taking forever for the heating to turn on maybe it's time for a new original Lexus temperature sensor. As Paul says this is one of the most important sensors on your car and effects the running massively. A big thank you for all the help I have received for this and other problems I have encountered in the past. I had to drive my Mercedes C220 w124 from 1996 for the last week or so and all I can say is if that was the last well built Mercedes well I don't know! Getting back into the Lexus you actually realise why they invented the word 'Luxury' , which I believe came to be understood perfectly in 1989! I paid £800 for my armchair on wheels and I left the previous owner outside of his house with a look so forlorn I felt I should send a grief counsellor to him that very afternoon! The poor man was moving to some island in the middle of nowhere and had to part with his well loved conveyance. I will not tell you what I paid for the Mercedes as I may well need a counsellor of some denomination myself!
  13. Well having had the ECU Capacitors replaced (thanks Steve) I fitted it and had a run of about five miles and all seemed good. I went for a short run today of under two miles with a stop halfway of five minutes and when I got back home revs were at 650 rpm so I would have to say the temperature sensor was the culprit! Steve did say the ECU was in excellent condition and no leaking caps but I think it's now future proofed. Whilst I was fitting the temp sensor I took the opportunity of cleaning the throttle body again. I will also run some Redline fuel system cleaner through a tank full of petrol.
  14. Well the sun keeps shining as Rockauto have given me a refund for the price of the parts, part of the delivery and the tax I paid and no need to send the part back. They did want me to return the part but I sent them an email explaining how FedEx were to blame and how Rockauto had always given a fine service and hey presto! I also had another good day on the horses and will certainly be buying a Euromillions ticket tonight!!
  15. Unfortunately they do suffer corrosion or different metals reacting against each other. My A/C man damaged pipe going to compressor, not much but enough to leak!
  16. The postage will probably cost as much as the part but if you need it....
  17. https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/lexus-tube-liquid-no-1~88716-50280.html I think this may be it.
  18. Don't require this anymore thanks.
  19. Well luckily I was there to see the delivery as the box was wide open and there was light damage to the steering pump pipes/hoses , just as well as I had ordered them by mistake, so they are going back! Have had two good days on the horses and all parts and services have been covered. When it seemed all was going wrong the sun shone again!
  20. Having told me two hours previously it was 3/2/2021 (I have converted date to British measures).
  21. Wed, 3 Feb at 07:01 Your delivery schedule has been updated to Tuesday, 2/2/2021 by 6:00 pm.
  22. Yes one to be careful of, I bought a couple of hydraulic hoses for the steering pump and then woke up in the morning and thought that's for a left hand drive, went to cancel but Rockauto in their efficiency had already shipped. I always check part no's but didn't that time!
  23. One small tip when fitting this or anything else with a washer into a recess a couple of very small dabs of super glue under the washer and it won't be falling off.
