  1. Might the fluid be leaking from the reservoir, as is usual in the earlier models Malc
  2. Hi, see my recent post here " Mk3 weird electronics problem ". I had the same issues only a couple of weekends ago. Mine was the result of a blown haedlight bulb. It only happened the once and no known reason found or deciphered on here. My engineer checked through and thought it was possibly just a " fail safe " kicking in. Hopes; hasn't happened since thank heavens. Malc
  3. Batteries with a 4yr warranty and sufficient power are @£65 usually these days Malc
  4. Hi guys, I don't know how complex or special this all is BUT I took mine to a very specialist place near to me in Canterbury Kent. Treadmark Tyres 01227 455548 ..... they said they had rare specialist equipment ! Cost them a fortune to install and to train the technician. They did the most amazing Computer Wheel Alignment ( all 4 wheels on the car and high up in the air ) and gave me a computer coloured diagrammatic profile both before and after. Caster, Camber and Toe. All needed adjustment and at £49.90 incl VAT. Car runs a dream. Malc
  5. I replaced them on my MK1 LS400 ( many years ago now ) at 150k and 160k respectively and they sure were £00's even then ! Benfur might have some original stuff ( even if replaced like I did for instance ) with a low mileage maybe ! Malc
  6. Update ..... all checked and all seemingly OK. New headlight bulb £4, a tenner to include the labour / checks ..... ( original ? Japanese bulb at 126000 miles and 16 years, not bad I suppose ! ) Let's hope I don't ever have to replace another bulb ...... where's the promised and expected longevity I ask !! Malc
  7. At these posted values the bottom really has fallen out of this LS market ! But the LS430s with their quite over technical issues with age now showing, makes them so much more vulnerable to castrated prices than the last of the 400s which are just so simple technologically. Just now there's another posting from that poor lady with the destroyed LS430 gearbox ........... never known the likes on a 400. Malc
  8. One dipped headlamp blown I notice and the car is booked into my service guy for tomorrow to have the alternator and battery and whatever else checked out to try to make sure it's an isolated issue. He'd never heard of the likes before and thinks it might have gone into " safe " mode to protect itself momentarily. Tell you more later. Malc
  9. I'm advised that Dunlop D8Zs are no longer made and that the Falkens at @£100 a corner is the likely best alternative ( handling, comfort, safety, wear and all those issues ) to original equipment Dunlops. Malc
  10. The engine never stopped in that time and now I remember, the radio was still working and I turned it off to save wasting power if that was going to be an issue too. The only lights to carry on ok working was the clock. Malc
  11. Hi everyone, never had this before and would like your thoughts please. Yesterday after an hours motorway driving eneded in a high street queue with lights and all blazing coz of the damp darkish weather. Crawling along and then all of a sudden, dash lights vanish together with the power steering and not sure what else .......... was in a bit of a shock to say the least. No indicators but managed to pull into a supermarket carpark and park ok. Turned all off, left for a minute and re-started absolutely fine. Running all day short trips, longest 40 miles and with headlights and heater and everything going and absolutely fine.......... as usual. Any thoughts on what may have caused the blip or what I might do to check to ensure I don't experience this heart attack rending phenomenon ever again ? Malc
  12. Top Speed 129mph then, WOW, scary stuff Andy Lucky you Malc
  13. Wow, that's a stunner .... I suspect the final price might end somewhere @£3.5k though. A rarity and probably now, a once in a lifetime purchase. As I think ACLex's was back in June when I bought it. Lovely car. Malc
  14. There's a recent post on here too about a headlamp ( one side only ) ballast ecu costing £600 to sort out. I dread the day when I have to move away from a simple LS400 ! But will I ???? Malc
  15. Thank you, that was easy then ! The silver barrel lock was closed, never touched that before in any of my 3 x LS400's Works a treat. Thank you. Malc
  16. Hi, just discovered that the remote opener for the boot doesn't work ( from inside the car.) Key Fob works it ok. Any ideas please ? Thanks. Malc
  17. I'm not at all sure that an option is another MOT, they are computer registered and the failures would not just vanish overnight ! If it was mine I would look at as inexpensively as possible dealing with the failures ( have you tried Benfur / Maurice on here for the springs ? ) and then you will have a car that you want to keep, in fine fettle, for a very long time to come. Malc
  18. Spark plugs and coolant, I don't think I would go for " cheap " .......... I would go for " correct " and Toyota fluid, well, maybe Toyota is the best place to get that from anyway ! Skimping on essentials such as these might prove a little fatal in the long run. My plugs will last 60k miles and the correct coolant, well, for a helluva long time I know. Malc
  19. 3 years ago now Chris rejuvenated the blacked out dash on my Mk3 fantastic job well done. Thanks again Chris Hope the needles on my Mk3 won't need doing tho' Malc
  20. She looks a beauty ......... and I'm sure will give you relentless pleasure. Are LS400s rare in Finland ? Malc
  21. Well, it must be so obvious if it's showing signs of corrosion !! OR Is this another over zealous Tester proving himself I wonder. Maybe a liberal spraying of WD40 might be a simpler solution. Malc
