  1. lexusn1ce - I bought a new key from Ebay, which was cut and turns the car on. Like most of the blanks available, it is a later type of immobiliser. For the LS you need to ensure the unlock button has a triangle, before the pedal dance will work. Setting off half an hour early, as always, just to enjoy the ride!
  2. I also bought the latest CD, PZ485-LCDEN-07 it does have a few greater options than the Original 2000 Disc. As passman53 says - house number, map scale graphic, re-calc, delete next waypoint and toll road priority. Cost €119 from www.lexus-mapupdates.eu Anyone have the 3 European discs which originally came in the box? France is on my list...
  3. Mark I think you (and your mechanic friend) have this wrong. Lexus factory - fitted security systems are amongst the best in the world. No aftermarket modifications were made! Lexus keys include the security sensor/fob. The key includes 2 or 3 buttons, which secure the car / lock /open doors and boot. The car will only start when the correct key is inserted into the lock. There are "Master" keys, which enable programming of other keys (available on Ebay) or "Slave/Valet" keys which will not open boot or glovebox. If you just have the "Emergency key" then your choices are limited/expensive and you should search these forums for further advice. best wishes
  4. I agree with some of the points made before, but I cant fathom why: On my MkIV when I just want to turn the screen off in the MENU page - I have to hit the disclaimer! Reversing sensors are high on the list too.
  5. If anyone here bought the bits from Ebay, did you also get the Satnav discs? If anyone has 2 copies of France, Spain etc ? I'd happily buy the CD copies, any age. Like many, mine were removed from the car and subsequenly lost. Only UK & I remained in the drive. I've updated the UK (£120), so have an elderly copy if anyone is interested. Kev
  6. For those trying to source updated sat nav discs, I found this page very helpful. Sat Nav generations
  7. Eee ! I just have to stop myself leaving half an hour earlier for every trip! I just love being in the thing......and don't really want to arrive anywhere. My other car is a Golf VR6
  8. The Thatcham on my VR6 always stops working when I park it at North Cheam (Queen Vic). Theres a great chinese there, but I have to park round the corner as there is a dish array on the roof opposite that completely washes out the alarm freq! This is South London/Surrey Unforgiven!
  9. Hello All. Firstly I have to say that the LOC and great information provided in these pages helped me a lot in my decision to buy Lexus. Thanks to everyone here I've just bought a 2000 MkIV LS400. As a result of research here I hope I have avoided some potential problems and found a "goodun"! 133k had a timing belt change at 117k in August 2003, so done less that 17k in the last 6 years (I hope this is a good thing?) Had her around 3 weeks, already driven from UK to Amsterdam which helped put 300+ wonderful miles under my belt. I have so far, just one niggly problem - Every time I turn the ignition ON, the drivers wing mirror turns outward a couple of degrees. If I turn the key OFF to ON, a few times, I can "walk" the mirror right out. If I continue past the midpoint, the mirror itself motors fully outward.... I can operate the mirror park switch and the mirrors close inward to the correct position, and when operated again, open to the correct position. Currently I have to operate the wing mirror park switch every 6 journeys or so, to re-align the view! I confirm, that the adjusting switches work fine, for both sides. If I leave the selector centred, the wing mirrors dont dip when selecting reverse (Correct I think). Seat memory button returns the mirrors to the set position correctly too. So operationally it all appears to be working correctly. I wonder if anyone has encountered this, or has any suggestions as to a fix? Thanks again Kev T
