  1. my idea is to mount it under heated seat buttons, there is a deep hole waiting to be stuffed with cool stuff :)
  2. Welcome to IS family ;) You will get used to it. I had '92 corolla before Lex and it clicked like sick :D and Lexus seemed very quiet. I am pretty sure there is no such thing as 'clicker'. I think turn signal relay is what makes the click.
  3. Hi there! in some "Most anoying thing about yout lex" posts I found that meny members would like to have a trip computer showing average MPG. well that is one thing I would like to have myself. And.... I found a solution! It is called MPGuino! It works with atmega chip and is connected to one injector and vehicle speed sensor and thats it! I doubt they still are avelable assambled as full kit, but you can make it yourself. You will need Arduino board (there are many alternatives to that like iduino, freeduino etc...) and a LCD. more info in their home page http://ecomodder.com/wiki/index.php/MPGuino This only shows instant, current and tank MPG, so its not a full alternative to Scangauge, but LOT cheaper if u only want to monitor mileage. I made one and will be putting it in car after few days, then it needs to be calibrated (thats simple) and wolla :) mine is showing L/100KM but it can be switched to MPG. I will later post pictures how it looks in my car If you have any questions feel free to ask ;)
  4. Hi! what protocol uses our cars? Do we have CAN bus or we dont? thanks ;)
  5. fuel gauges on our cars ar smart as hell. they dont show actual amount of fuel left in tank, but calculate fuel consumped by engine and then shows how much should be left.
  6. my sunroof cracks when going over uneven surfaces at slow speeds solwed this once removing headliner and loosening and tightening all screws that hold sunroof in place, was quiet for a while, now it starts to show up again. i thing it is because whole cars body is twisting and bending a bit and since sunroof tracks and whole assembly is quite stiff doesnt twist with body and makes crack :D my english rox, i know :)
  7. my fuel needle is quite strange also. when i fuel up sometimes needle instantly shows fuel amount, sometimes it takes time. sometimes i can drive 3 or 6 miles and only then needle reacts on fuel amount. i read somewhere that lexus has so advanced fuel gauge that it measures fuel consumpted by engine calculating how much is left in tank. there was a guy who had an LPG kit and driving only on LPG the fuel needle continued to drop untill zero, then after some time it jumps ap saying that fuel tank is full
  8. HALT! retrofit will have to wait :D found another set of fog lights laying around and surprisingly reflectors were in quite good shape, so gathering all good parts i made 2 +/- good fogs. painted chrome black, polished, and sealed
  9. No. they can be removed by unscrewing 2 screws trough the hole in bumper next to them. removing bumper or pan makes the job much much easier
  10. cruise control seat belts soft paint fuel consumption sunroof knocking noise no auto windows everything else is simply perfect
  11. Hi there! you may not know that weather in my country is SH*T!!! dirt, salt, sand, and other nice stuff on roads and that makes fog lights look like this. this is projector unit, that sits inside fog light case lens removed inside should be clean and covered in chrome as you see it is not... beam pattern is crap... oh... there is no beam pattern :D i will start a retrofit as soon as i will find projectors that could fit. and theese thingys will be painted black
  12. original multi changer was fitted in dash, in head unit itself ;) and for wire routing - remove rear seats, and in passenger side there are some cables going in trunk, i used that hole. run them along passenger side, begind glove box and wollaa :) Easy-peasy Japanese
  13. thanks for your guesses :D 1. i think completly useless part, reduces air flow to radiator. hope it wont pop the hood, but what about 'sport' grilles? theyre completly transparent 2. i think it is completly NOT normal :D think of it... what suffers the fan, when going 60+mph and that poor thing blows air in opposite direction :( as for the outside temp gauge... sensor is just behind bumper between radiator and bumper, and fan blows hot air out of engine bay right on temp sensor
  14. Hi there! today i removed this black panel behind front grill, how good this idea was? my car heats up pretty easy and fans come on often. it came off pretty easy, just few metal clips. could this be some kind of cold weather package? 2nd question is about cooling fans. today i discovered that one of fans suck air inside engine bay and other sucks out of engine bay? thats quite strange. the one whitch sucks out, blows hot air on outside temperature sender and outside temp is rising. normal or...? 3rd is about AC line is that ok that the line is bent in such sharp angle or....? Thanks :)
  15. buzzer is in speedo unit. C11 connector pin 2 is from back-up, disconnecting this wire should shut that beeper, have not tried myself.
  16. its not so hard to make wiring yourself. since i am working on a custom stereo i dont have radio in car. so i wired my ipod direcly to factory amp. sounds better than with stock stereo. it you are interested i can try to give you some help
  17. sounds exactly like problems with tharmostat. maybe you have a faulty unit. start cold car, open bonnet and check lower radiator hose. it should stay cold untill normal engine temperature is reached. if it turns warm before that, than its thermostat. or, take out thermostat, take it home and boil in water, and see how and when it opens. sould open when water starts to boil. also check coolant level. hope it helps. had the same problem in my '92 corolla
  18. think i will check 1. interior thermometer 2. air mix servo motor ( heard theese can fail) anything else?
  19. hello! I am speaking about inside of the car. as we all know it is winter and in my country temperatures drop till -17 celsius. it is quite cold. there is one thing that bothers me... inside of car heats up very poorly :( i set my temp knob to 22 celsius and even on normal engine temperature AUTO mode runs fan on HI all the time and the air coming out of vents is bearly warm. even on 28+ (max heat) and fan set to HI still cant get hot enough. my friends ford focus and bmw e46 330ci can make interior uncomfortably hot. air coming out vents is so hot that it is impossible to hold hand there. even my old car toyota corolla 1992, 1.8 deasel could cook a chicken. also my parents cars, both toyota avensis make huge amounts of heat :) I did a coolant flush last sommer. filled radiator and expansion tank to the top and checked level regulary. no leaks anywhere, water pump seems to work ok and so as thermostat. could it be water bubble? how to get rid of it? could heater core be clogged? because i dont know what kind of ***** was filled in there before i did the flush. thanks ;)
  20. yes! brains and screen is from kenwood unit. all button connections from kenwood are wired to connections on is200 face plates pcb. all buttons work, but i have to learn whitch button is where :) since kenwood`s volume knob was digital type and lexus stereo`s vol knob is analog, i now have volume knob where audio control knob was on is200 stereo, since it`s digital too. thats good for me since i am LHD and that sucked that my vol knob was on passengers side :)
  21. Hi I somehow broke my stock stereo and an idea came in my head.... let the pics speak.. Donor Volume knob connected Soldering skills Finished!!! can give you more info if interested.. peace ;) comments welcome more info: http://my.is/forums/f103/my-custom-stereo-check-out-404673/
  22. sup guys! the thing is... i installed a woofer using a cheap hi to low converter and now each time i start the car i hear a short but quite loud bump/boom/bass from my sub. it also happens when i switch over tuner/tape/cd and on/off. +12v is straight from battery, GND is to the body, and acc/rem wire is connected to navigation computers acc wire. i think it could be because the radion switches off stock amp every time function is changed to ensure a quiet operation and this switching could cause my problem? or could it be my lcc converter box? car: is200 sorry my language :D thanks!
  23. I am sure you are right. when I was searching car for myself I found one is200 manual, dont remember was it y2000 or 2001, but it had a cruise. wish me luck.
  24. ok i got the cruise switch from a totaled is300 at loco junkyard pluged in mine - nothing, the light dont lit up :(:(:( where actualy is the cruise light on cluster? myb someone has a picture? myb just bulb isn't there? i was looking around toyota parts catalog and found that Auto gearbox lexus has the same gauge cluster part number as the manual, so the cruise light should be there ( i hope ) :( part numbers were the same for spiral connector, ecu and other things related to cruise... still hope it is going to work :(
