  1. Hi folks, its been ages since ive managed to get on here :( the time has come to sell my lexus, but before hand i need to do a few things. Mainly put my number plate on retention and refurb some wheels. They seem to be going for ridiculous ammounts on Bay of e at the moment :( whilst i highly recommend city powder coaters of brum i cant handle the inconveneince of my car being off the road for a week due to work. Im happy to purchase wheels that need a refurb provided they're not buckled. So if any fellow club member has some going then please get in touch???!!! Please note: these are just the standard lexus 17" 5 spoke wheels :) Thanks
  2. Cheers nev, lol, yeah its does sound silly now i think of it. Its a lot softer on the near side than the other side. and the handling has become very unpredictable. It just feels like its bouncing a lot over nothing, very strange when one side on the rear is staying composed and the other is up and down like there's no tomorrow. The cars coming up to 10 years old though, so I would assume its just wear and tear
  3. Hi peter, welcome to the forum. I just wish to inform you of my experience with extending warranties. I took it upon myself to buy a warranty with warranty direct. It was a rolling contract and until yesterday I was with them for a total of 18 months. it cost me £24 a month and was a comprehensive package, called secure care +. However I have recently canceled it, purely because every-time I went to make a claim they pulled some small print out and said "no im sorry, that is not covered sir". I wasn't being unreasonable either, Ive had my key snap, bearings go etc, and none of them are covered at all. In my honest opinion I do think they are worth it. I would have sooner put £25 a month in a savings account and used it to fall back on just in case - which im doing from now on. another thing to look out for if you do consider it - Warranty Direct have a term/condition which if you have a policy which renew every year to cancel you must pay an admin charge of £50!! so be careful, and read that small print. luckily my policy was rolling month by month. But Ive already drafted a letter expressing my disappointment. I hope this has helped you. Regards, Lloyd PS, your English & grammar is far better than mine and English is supposedly my first language :D
  4. Hi all, after i got home a few nights ago i noticed the ride was a bit bouncy. I got out and checked the nearside suspension and its very very bouncy and soft, just the nearside. Is it my shock absorber that has gone? Ive had a look on ebay and ive found a set for £160 delivered (rear only) this seems quite expensive to me? where else should I look? Also, is it an easy job? do you think its manageable job to do myself? any help/advice is greatly appreciated :) ps, I just have the standard sport suspension, nothing fancy here
  5. i think im gonna have to go for a grom mp3 adapter. this tape thing I bought for £2 sounds like a tractors in my dash. I'd like to quote this from the listing i purchased from " silent mechanism - for excellent sound quality" yeah silent when its not plugged in. Dont get me wrong i wasn't expecting miracles for £2 but i certainly will be sticking to Cd's for now until i can afford an adapter. unless of course my numbers come up 2moro (lottery i mean)
  6. thanks for all your input, I will purchase one off a popular auction site shortly. only a couple of £ too :D time to empty the glove box, the TomTom will feel ever so lonely now
  7. wishes he could get the gallery feature to work on here : ( !

  8. Dont support ipod's im afaraid - strongly against them and itunes (i worked for apple for a short while and seem the ammount of returns) will this work on a generic Mps player kam? ive just got the standard Cd player in atm - still no error 3 etc woohoo! :)
  9. Hi folks, getting sick of having a glove box full of CDs sliding around all the time. I have a Nokia phone with the standard 3.5mm headphone socket/output. I was thinking of just putting some mp3's on it and getting one of those tape-3.5mm adapters. Have any of you used these before? Or do you have any better ideas to use mp3's in the motor??? Ive tried the whole wireless thing thats plugs into the cigerette lighter, but the sound quality was :tsktsk:crpa to say the least. thanks in adavance Lloyd :)
  10. just what i wanted to hear : ) thanks anything I should look out for? Ive got just over £6,000 to play with so hoping to get something half decent. Did they facelift teh interior at a certain year? am I right in thinking the outside didnt change much until 05/06 ?
  11. Hi all! i currently have an IS200 and im looking for something with a bit of power. Milage, insurance & MPG not a concern. just looking at GS430 in good condition with good spec and wondered what they're like to live with? recently came into a bit of money so still intend to keep the IS, just after something different.
  12. Not a wise move. Avoid an accident because you could find yourself uninsured which at the worst could lead to criminal charges. avoiding an accident is easier said than done, hence the term "accident" its best to either declare or un-mod to be safe, I know one or 2 people with various mods who haven't declared and I fear the day will come when it all goes wrong, and it'll be costly if it happens I know someone who has recently had an accident, writing off both cars involved. each were heavily modded "boy racer" cars. The insurance company has investigated the whole thing - and not honoured any of the claim. In fact they are taking one lad to court - they seen the videos of him driving like a Chump on his facebook ! along with a lot of photos detailing mods etc which weren't declared. Personally i think If you dont declare them mods you taking a serious risk (however small they are) that it might well void your insurance. with insurance companies facing harder times - eg more fraudlent claims, they're gonna try and find a way round anything they can I contacted Churchill when I was 19 and I had my induction kit on my first IS200 - they asked me how much it cost etc and charged me £24 extra on the total premium. not bad at all considering :)
  13. cheers Neil knowing my luck its probably already on here somewhere, I just havent found it yet I think It would be very useful, not only by knowing which products are best, but also which suppliers are the most reliable and competatively priced
  14. Hi folks, It might sound stupid but I thought I would raise this with you all and see what you think. A new recommendations section - featuring all the things you've bought for your Lexus including; -a review of the product you have purchased -how much it is -where to get it from Perhaps there could be a section like this under each model? with several categories eg tyres & wheels, suspension It would just be handy, say you need a new clutch for your IS, you want to know what others have bought, how much it is and who's the best supplier to approach. your thoughts folks?
  15. This is very true - use the phone. Also if you know an Insurance Company you trust, ask them which cars/models would be cheapest to insure. Then try for the best car/insurance combination. Unfortunately, all the statistics show newer drivers do cause claims, but I think Insurance Companies use this as an excuse for premiums which are out of proportion - after all, they also all claim they don't make any money out of car insurance but strangely seem to compete really strongly for the business. Very true, not to mention that me - "oh its only £300 - not bad at all" them - "whats that? you want to pay monthly? no problem thats £815.23! whats your sort code sir" or some wouldnt even give you the option, you had to pay it in one - hence why this year i ended up with tesco - purely because they provided the cheapest qute based on paying monthly.
  16. Hi Paul, Ive owned an SE before and I currently have a sport - so I'll tell you what i know :) the sport has slightly harder suspension - and sits 10mm lower that an SE or S spec The sport has rear tinted windows aluminium sill plates and aluminium pedals some models had a limited slip diff - not sure how you can tell this to be honest? thats pretty much it i think mate, in my opinion the ride in a sport is ruined, i preferred the SE model - but thats just my personal view. However i do like the factory tinted windows etc. Oh and one other thing - the sport model is a group higher insurance wise SE model insurance group 12 Sport model Insurance group 13
  17. The gearstick has been put back in the wrong way if its hitting the handbrake- take it back and get the garage to take the gearstick out and fit it the right way round. Do they have a slight angle on then? its my friend whos done it, hes never worked on one of these before, so i dont wanna be funny about it. is it much of job do you know mate?
  18. would you be able to put one of yourselves as a named driver to bring the premium down further? even if you dont have any no claims, my dad lowered mine last year by £200 and he never drives it and has no claims and 3 points
  19. lol, been there done that - the ammount of laptop ive refurbed where the screws have gone walkabouts!
  20. A big thanks to Kam for finding the cheaper Exedy clutch and all other recoomendations, she runs like new now. just one problem though - my gear stick is way over to the left (as in nearly hitting the handbrake) any ideas folks? everything functions fine, and im tempted to leave it - unless someone knows it may cause damage whatever it is? Thanks, Lloyd
  21. hello, I went through exactly the same thing. When i was 18 I acquired a rover and was quoted £2400 for my first year. I went through Quinn direct which were very good, if not try tesco car insurance - they used to be reasonable. hope this helps
