Hi All, I wanted to hear from fellow members on ways to improve nightvision on my IS250 SE ( standard lights, not xenon). I've been doing a lot of night driving on A roads and feel that although light range is not extremely bad, it could do with some improvement. Shall I opt for HIDS upgrade? Or any specific bulbs? Your replies would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi folks! I own an IS250 SE with the standard front tyres size 225 45 17 and rear tyres 245 45 17. They all have lower thread (front worst and rear) and I was thinking of changing them all at the same time . As anyone swap the rear tyres from 245s to 225s? Will it affect the drive and comfort? Also, suggestions for tyre brands are welcome. Many thanks.

White Smoke - Embarassing?
lexusisfan replied to lexusisfan's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Can't believe I've posted this 3 years ago. I've moved on to an IS250 last year, which suprisingly doesnt steam (or smoke!) as much as the IS200! -
Been to Lexus Leicester on Friday. Warm welcome from staff and offered free visual check and car wash which I politely refused as I was in a hurry. 20 minutes and a cup of coffee later, car was ready. I must note that the prices I've written in my previous post are incorrect as I was charged £95 including VAT and labour. (without labour is £88.80 inc VAT). I've also noticed that my radio stations and bluetooth settings were saved after the battery change, apart from the GPS saved destinations.

Thanks for your replies, will try and get a quote from Lexus tomorrow and post the outcome here. Ive been browsing on the various websites (eurocarparts, gsf, etc) and ive noticed that if I change the car description from IS250 to IS220D it shows more battery types. Is there a difference between the two in terms of battery types?

Hi folks! Ive been noticing for the past couple of days my IS250 cranking longer than usual when starting up. This afternoon it didnt have enough power to start so had to jump start it which means finding a replacement battery for the current Panasonic one. Any tips or suggestions for batteries and where to get them? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Thats great fuel economy. What was your average speed? -
While on the subject of brake pads, how do you guys find the Lexus IS250 braking power? I remember the day I bought it, I felt the braking power is not sufficient considering the power it has. When I've pointed it to the previous owner, he mentioned that is due to EBD (electronic braking distribution) and the brake pads were replaced the previous year (not sure which brand).

Tyre Pressure

Thanks for bringing up the topic, It would be interesting to see what everyone does. I'm running 225's at the front and 245's at the back and I use the recommended tyre pressure by Lexus which is definitely not as high as yours. Also, I've been told that the balding of tyres on the edges means that the tyres are being over inflated, as I'm having the same issue with my tyres. My local tyre guy has advised me to reduce the pressure to 32 across the four tyres which his signifcantly less than the recommended Lexus pressure, but I'm unsure as I don't want to compromise on safety. -
Hello folks! Have been experiencing the dreaded VCS Check on light every now and again together with a buzzing sound since I bought my Lexus IS250. Lexus wanted £90 to check the errors so I've decided to check the errors myself and came out with the following codes: C1249 - Stop light switch circuit C1223 - ABS Malfunction Does anyone had a similar problem? Shall I take it to the dealer to get it fixed or is it something that a competent mechanic should be able to fix? Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear All, I own a 2006 IS250 Auto and I'm constantly getting the Check VSC, ABS, Red Warning Triangle, and VCS orange light on/ It doesn't affect the driving of the car, but is getting annoying and I want to resolve it before it develops into something further. My mechanic tried reading the faults, but his software was unable to pick any faults whatsover. I've contacted Lexus and they want £90 just to read the faults :eerrrmm: . Would you guys know anyone in Leicestershire that will be able to read the faults without charging an arm and leg? Thanks.

Thanks for all your replies. Just wanted some reassurance that I'm making the right decision ( My wife believes that I'm just looking for any sort of excuse to keep it anyway ! ) Just an update, my average fuel consumption is 29mpg driving normal with some trashing around Not too bad considering the low temperatures, it should increase slightly during Apr - Oct hopefully.

Dear All, I've recently purchased my IS250 and I'm very happy with it. Was thinking of keeping it long term (I've kept the IS200 for almost 5 years, the longest I've owned a car for). but, I've been offered a job and I've accepted it to advance in my career. This means that my commuting will change from working 2 miles to 20 miles from home. The journey will consist of 2 miles in town, 8 miles in A roads and 10 miles in motorway. I will also be required to travel at least three times a week within a 50 miles radius or more if needed but this will be covered by the company (45p per mile). I'm expecting an average consumption of aproximately 37 / 38 mpg on my commute. Not too bothered about the additonal travelling as it will be covered by the company. What would you do in a similar situation? Would you keep the IS250 or would you change for a diesel / hybrid? ( IS220d , the german trio, ugly prius?) I'm also conscious that a diesel will cost more to maintain and the cost of replacing a dual mass flywheel clutch, turbo or DPF could be more costly than the actual fuel saving?
