  1. It really is disgusting how short the life is of some of these components is. Mike
  2. Welcome to the LOC we are a friendly bunch and cater for most taste but I am old, poor car. Mike
  3. I think that that is a very good road to go down. I had already thought to myself that setting a budget to enable a full body restoration and then thinking further forward another amount for overhauling the mechanicals both over a 10 year period in total would ensure that you still have a very reliable car. Mike
  4. Heres a link for Falkens at £83 a corner + £3 P&P I have never had a problem tramligning unless of course its a really bad road surface Mike Mike, could not find link on your reply. Cant get much more stupid than that. Another senior moment. here we go. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m62b747s424p97846/Falken_Tyres_Car_Falken_ZE912_Ziex_Falken_ZE_912_-_225_60_R16_98W_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_G_Wet_Grip%3A_C_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_70dB/RS_GB Cheers Mike, By the way does the fuel efficiency rating really make any difference, in the past I have tried supposed fuel efficient tyres on big cars and can't say I noticed any difference even when doing 15,000 miles per year. I cant comment on that as I have never taken any notice if one tyre is better than another like that. I read on here that these Falkens were made by Dunlops and were the direct replacement for the tyres that the cars came with from the originally from the factory. Considering the state of our roads what noise you get from your tyres is a bit of a joke. I notice when I have gone across the channel and you get onto their superbly smooth and quiet roads that inside the LS then is fantastically quiet. My car is LPG so my fuel bills are small. Mike.

  7. If you report your car as being involved in an accident to your insurance company and then not proceed with the insurance claim but repair privately your insurance company will record it as a claim and the car and will also be registered as Cat C etc if they have seen the car and deemed to write it off or quote estimation for repairs. Your No Claims Bonus could also be at stake. How do I know this because it happened to me, some guy reversed his car into mine he wanted to go through insurance which was OK I reported it to my insurance co however he came back later said he would pay for my repairs which he did, Saga ended no! I sometime later was looking for new insurance so did the Go compare etc chose one after a month I got an invoice from them for £50 because I hadn't told them I had made a claim for the previous year, the fact that I did not get the insurance co to pay for the repairs made no difference, if you tell your insurance company your car has been involved in an accident that is treated as a claim. I paid up and put it down to a very expensive lesson. Back to your car I thought that had all ready been sold as its already appeared in one of the threads. Mike
  8. Perhaps they want to keep it and I'm sure at that price they will Mike
  9. I still have the old paper one which is now stuck together with bits of chewing gum, gaffa tape and on the rare occasion I have been asked by one of her majesties boys in blue for it I get great delight in handing them the scruffiest driving license in the land. Mike
