Hence the Eagle eyed LOC member with super eyesight that noticed the wings (Eagle? Wings? that's very cleaver pure accident) were a different colour. I remember when I had good eyesight together with other body parts that these days need lotions and potions to keep it all together. If I knew then what I know now I would never have got old I would have stayed around the mid 30s. Mike Well he should of done and he should of mentioned it in the ad since it was recorded on the V5 according to him I agree with you. Mike

Its looking increasingly more difficult to argue that the natural step up from our Mk4s is the 430/460, they constantly throw up stories of dissatisfaction with various dislikes and technical problems and it has also become accepted that the Mk4 was the best of all the LSs. So is anymore difficult today to find and good LS than it was 3 years ago? I remember 3 years ago in March/April there were very few around that were even worth investing time and money going to see. I wasn't particularly fussy, it didn't have to be in mint condition and the odd scratch or small dent was acceptable. As long as the car was honest and not been written off at some stage and had a service history, main dealer/local garage was acceptable. It took me 12 weeks & 8 different cars to find one it had a small dent in the drivers door which is still there (anyone got a 6Q7 Dark Green drivers door) and a few scratches, interior was perfect all buttons and switches worked 85k and full service history, cam belt done I paid £2600 and £1200 for LPG so £3800 altogether. In that time I have had two services, one battery and replacement passenger door (already well published) two tyres and I have done 50K miles, always past her MOT without even an advisory, I could probably still get around £2K for her but I ain't stupid enough to get rid of her for many years yet. The thing is that with all the problems likes and dislikes the 430/460 keeps throwing up will make the Mk1.2.3 & 4 a more desirable bet which will have one effect and that is drive the price up of Mk4s and poss Mk3s and to hold prices level for Mk1s & Mk2s, especially for those that are honest cars etc. So look after her she may be worth more than you think. Hello and welcome Bassman, we've nearly got ourselves The LOC Blues and Jazz band, we are a friendly bunch and some have better eyesight or have been to Specsavers but I cant see a Walnut Dash & Door Cappings & Steering Wheel, nice looking car though. No mention of cam belt being done. I have just seen the price above and I agree its very heavy, under £2k for me if everything is OK. Mike

Didnt make the reserve, would be interesting to know where the seller has set his sights on price. £2.5k I would have thought would be a good price but wont be surprised if its nearer £3k. Bearing in mind cam belt done and already LPGd. On top of that you have a nice ride down to beautiful Devon to pick it up and come home via Cornwall. Mike

They are mostly multi points these days. Single points are for Carb engines where as multi points are designed for injection engines. Mike -
No I think the wheels are awful, the steering wheel looks like its been driven by someone with a ring or rings on their right hand. If I were looking for one this would be a serious contender. I know there are a couple of LOC members looking for one as I type so maybe this can be a contender for them. Mike.

i started off with a mark 3 5 years ago - then had a mark 4 for 2 years I now have an LS430 - with no intention of upgrading to the 460 But i still look at the lexi for sale every single day - just to see whats for sale - condition and prices - i have dedicated shortcuts on my desktop and for me its a ritual i do first thing and many times throughout the day there is a very nice gold Mark 4 on bidding at the moment - it even has a LOC sticker so probably someone from here All perfectly normal behavior, I do the same and I know others do. It is a real shame that its spoilt by a few idiots. I don't know why ebay don't have Debit/Credit cards on file so that payment can be taken. There is a lot more they could do but they cant be bothered. Mike I think you're right Mike, they just can't be bothered! BTW, Bluesman, ever seen this? Nope that's a new one for me, I thought I'd seen everything out there with Jimi on. Just goes to show there are some brilliant things out there in the digital world we have yet to discover. Many thanks for that one Mike

The most stupid thing fleabay ever did was stop sellers giving neutral or negative feedback to buyers or even bad positive, There is no comeback for buyers as fleabay don't give a hoot plus you have to wait weeks to get your fees back. And so people leave negative feedback ticking the positive box, what's that all about? Because sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback only buyers can do that these days the only way to do it is to tick the positive box and leave your comment on there, If nothing else it often upsets the non paying pain in the backside types. Heres a link to a guy with same year and model as yours and same problem. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/68515-ls-430-engine-sludge/ -
When I rarely sell a car on ebay I always stipulate 10 feedbacks or less don't bother and I always cancel their bids, any negative feedback in the last year don't bother and I always cancel their bids and put them on banned bidders list. If they do want to bid with those problems contact me and because I have a facility for taking Credit Card (my business) I take credit card details and I make sure the card given can take what I think the car will go for and if it doesn't well you know the action by now. I feel for you because ebay has become a pain in the backside place to buy and sell and if those nutters weren't around it would be brilliant. Good luck with the third attempt. Mike

I would be very surprised (and I am one of the worlds greatest cynics) if a Lexus main dealer used anything other than that which is designed for their cars. If it ever came out that this was not the case the damage would be irreparable and would damage the brand for years to come. One thing corporate business values above anything else is their brand image because if that is damaged lower profits follow and the slippery slope becomes impossible to stop. I think the engine on your car tells a different story that you don't know about yet. Where are you based in the world ? this might gives us a clue as to where to look. I know if my car looked like that and had only been serviced by Lexus main dealer I would be asking some very uncomfortable and searching questions. Mike
