  1. No that isn't a parking space that I am parked in. Many years ago it was originally the road. I realise its difficult to blame someone else but I can be forgiven after waiting 20 mins to get into the disabled bay that I forgot there was a post to my nearside under the hight of the door. As the pub manager said "Its been there for 20 years" I have just got another door £39 on ebay (So I have had some luck could of waited weeks for one the right colour) for her my garage will fit it on next week. As for blame, you have to blame someone, I thought the arrogance of the Chef & Brewer manager was outrageous so did his head office. We will wait to see what they say. Mike What they will say is you "entered the car park and park your own car at your own risk!" I know what your saying re the 20 min wait to get into a space but to try and blame the pub for your misstake is the bit i dont get? If you drove your car into a lamp post at the end of the street would you blame the council for putting it there? If I had hit a lamp post which I could have seen quite clearly then I agree but this post is a little over 2 feet tall and cannot be seen once you are next to it and doesn't even show in the N/S mirror and that is what I am arguing about, also had the disabled bay not have been blocked for 20 mins then I would have driven straight into it without any problem. You bet I blame them. Mike
  2. The sound is perfect for speech and music. When I decided to buy a system to enable digital radio this was by far the best especially for the money. We already have a terrific sound system so I didn't want to compromise that and the Pure is just perfect for the job. My garage fitted it took only an hour and the way it works is that it picks up the digital signal through an aerial that is stuck to the inside of your windscreen and the on the same aerial transmits it to the aerial on the car. You don't notice the aerial on the windscreen. I have had the occasional loss of digital signal but thats when you through valleys especially if they are heavily wooded but other than that 98% perfect. Mike

Mike Spread the pain eh Mike - you dinked your car now you're dropping the pub manager in it with his boss :) Even if he was a bit rude that's a bit harsh. My wife once took out both my near side doors on our house gatepost - took her two goes as well. I could not understand why she was pXssed off at driving me about when I had been banned for speeding - something to do with missing her tee time. It cost me a grand and I started using hire cars as a result - I suspect there was method in her madness. Looks as if you got a good deal on a new door so a bit of luck there. Bren There was alot more to the manager and their drivers part of the story who were abusive but didn't want to bore everyone with the entire drama. Drop him in it? He dropped himself in it. Mike

  5. Is thus right that the door up for auction will fit all those models?? Mike http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-98-UF20-1994-2000-LEFT-NEAR-SIDE-FRONT-DOOR-green-6Q7-/400348203841?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ALexus|Model%3ALS&hash=item5d369ccb41
  6. Waiting for a disabled bay to become unblocked by a drinks delivery lorry at a local pub when eventually it did move (20 mins) I went to move the car and caught it on a post that was below the eye line of the car putting a huge dent into the door. I am mortified. I have told them I am holding them responsible. My poor Lexie. Mike
  7. This has come up before and I thought people were getting good sound from the cassette adapter so it might be your cassette. I use a Pure Highway which is brilliant you might want to have a look at that as I seem to remember its not an easy job tapping into the wiring loom to fit any other adapter. Mike
  8. I have just thought of one thing worth looking at Top Gear for and that is Sabine Schmitz. I would pay for her to take me round the Nururgring Ring any time, slow as you like, no point in rushing a good thing. Mike
  9. Thanks Mike for that. Yes I do have ticking going on from where the injectors are but the installer didn't seem to think anything was untoward there. I have to say I have lost all confidence in him so I expect I will have to shell out for another installer to check them out. I just can't afford this at the moment so to say I'm miffed would be and under statement. I wonder if there is a 5th gear on rerun somewhere for VBH to cheers me up! Could this be of any use to you ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1zhgsnyZWw As for VBH 5th Gear are always on reruns on Sat TV Mike
  10. Hi Pete. The reason I mentioned the injectors ticking is I remember a few years back I had my Mercedes suddenly go rough and it turned out that one of the injectors was ticking which showed it was naff. They replaced it in mins and hey presto all was silent again and the engine was back to smooth running. Mike
  11. Pete, when you have the bonnet up on your car with the engine ticking over is there a ticking noise coming from the injectors, maybe one or a couple of them? Mike
  12. We must be a couple of pervs as that is without doubt one of her best features. I think we might be on the wrong forum here to discuss the many virtues of VBH Mike
  13. I'm not sure how you can judge a program or it's presenters without watching it. I'd guess that a lot watch it despite the presenters, because it's got cars in it, and there are very few car shows on the box these days. I have never watched Britains Got No Talent, Strictly Prancing or all the rest of that banal cess pit of rubbish that our televisions are now full of these days, but I know I would rather sit and watch a skip rust for the rest of my life than spend a single second watching any of it. I agree on 5th Gear but even they are guilty of boring tyre smoking but they do have one thing that none of the others have and that is Vicky Butler Henderson. Mike
  14. I'm with you all the way. Trouble is there is no other program that shows all those wonderful super cars. Hardcore Car Porn. Mike
  15. You've seen one car smoke its tyres you've seen them all. When you think the most you see of any car is the inside looking at the dash etc but only seconds are devoted to it. I watch it because I am car mad and would love it to become slightly more serious, I think a bunch of school kids could do a better job. Nothing worse than a man approaching his bus pass acting like hes just left University. Mike
  16. No one ever gives the BBC free programs for nothing. We as license payers pay for everything that the BBC produces. I am sure there is plenty of revenue produced through the program being syndicated and you can be sure that JC get a fair whack of that as well. I did also put that the basic JC got was £250000 and on top of that there are all the extras. The sums that these presenters are paid on the BBC is way over the top but that is something that is rife through the BBC. Alan Hanson and Alan Shearer get in excess of £40k each plus expenses to sit there on Match of the Day and talk about the bleedin obvious. The sooner this lot including all the backroom lot are outed the better and then maybe we can get back to quality programming which is what they are meant to produce all the time and for a lot less money. Now I need a cup of tea. Mike
  17. Why is he coming round? He has slagged our wonderful cars off since they were first built - who is paying him what? Bren We are all paying for him in our enforced payment of a Wireless & Televisual Receiver license. It is rumored he gets around a 1/4 million pounds per series, plus of course all the extras that spin off it. The other two don't get quite as much. I always record and watch it back with the sound down. I'm really not interested in anything any of them have to say except "And on that bombshell" as that's the end. Like all those who like to think they are "Shock Jocks" give them enough rope and they will hang themselves and it will happen to him as well. Mike
  18. Just looked at that review and the Falken tyre they are reviewing is different from the Falken I have on my car. mine are Falken ZE912. Mike The original tyres on my LS430 were Dunlop SP270 - and they are still available. They were not bad but I found it hard to get more than 20K miles out of them. Michelin were the best so far 26K - I am trying Kumo at the moment. Bren I cant tell you what type of Dunlops were fitted to the 400 at production but according to those more learned than my self they aren't available any more and that the Falken ZE912 still made by Dunlop are the replacements. Mike just looked at the falkens and they are supposed to be noiser than the dunlops Im leaning towards the dunlops as found a good price at £600 for 4 The Falkens shown in the link are not the correct ones the replacements are completey different to those. These are the ones that I buy http://www.camskill....ise:_70dB/RS_GB Mike this is what im looking at: http://www.camskill....:_1_Noise:_68dB but having just changed the tyres to continentals - I dont want to rush in and spend more money if they dont make alot of difference Yes I know thats why I said they are the wrong ones. Mike
