  1. We have those on my wifes Escort estate and they only tell you when you have hit anything which hasn't stopped my wife from trying them to their extreme, I wanted to have a much larger field of vision to see pedestrians that have side vision problems and cant see a ton or so of car moving slowly backwards. Mike
  2. As ipwm said in all probability its just mechanics doing what mechanics do and has nothing to do with customer cars. Can you imagine the damage that would cause Lexus if the press found out something naughty was going on? Are you sure these Beef Burgers are not past their sell by date darling they really taste strange. Mike
  3. I'm not bothered by the way threads go in fact I find it quite interesting how it starts in one place and then somehow it goes off on a life all of its own, I understand that everyone has a different point of view and as long as its civil I respect their point of view. Lets face it if we all thought the same there would be no need for forums or any discussions, we would all drive the same car (wonder what that would be) eat the same food, wear the same clothes, read the same book, OH what a boring place it would be. Mike
  4. MMM that b-king looks like a bit of me. Very nice If you get the chance to try one, have a go but beware, they are a wild animal that need a healthy amount of respect. Zero to the scene of the crash in seconds is the phrase. I would have thought 0-100 would be nearer 4 seconds 6 seems awfull slow 6 seconds is my time, and i'm man enough to admit it can be done faster, but i like my extremities still attached to the rest of me, call me a coward but i'm a live coward We sadly lost a 28 year old member of our family last year when his bike hit a tree at 100 MPH +, its not the first person close to our family that has been lost in this way which is probably why I have never had or wanted to own one. Mike.
  5. Good choice with the VFR400 I used to race one about six years ago spent a fortune on it but ended up being one of the quickest in the country lovely bikes. Wow you wouldn't miss that on the road even at speed amazing. Mike
  6. I am to old to get worried about those sort of things these days but its good to remind the youngsters that some people can be offended by that sort of thing. As for signing myself off each time I think its just good manners and takes very little effort. Mike
  7. 4Well then after all that traveling you know what the Blues are all about. I meant no offense but you were the one to call us old fogies which wasn't very nice, we don't like it when are children call us that. As for Pendulum not very original. Mike
  8. I feel very sorry for your generation that have been brought up on a diet of electronic rubbish produced by huge corporations who manage to brainwash you with programs like X Factor, Britains got no talent etc etc etc. There is a whole world out there you have never experienced or even heard off and that is a real shame because your right to choice has been cynically taken away from you in order that you only spend money on what you are told is good by that diet of pure and unadulterated rubbish made by those corporations. Pete Waterman, Simon Cow hang your heads in shame. Mike
  9. That's what I thought! It looks like a 'limited edition'. Its gets polished and garaged, and doesn't come out in the rain! That's why its so clean! It wouldn't come out much in the UK! haha Behave yourself. Nigel I'm not a lover of tinted windows but the wheels look good. Not sure you will get the badges in the same shade of gold and if they don't match it will look a bit..................... you know what I mean. So you can have an even bigger chuckle to yourself down there on the dark side of the moon we are deep in snow and going nowhere slowly. Mike
  10. Nice to have another keen musician on here! I used to work as a musician (keyboards and percussion) and, having taught music in school, now teach about music education in a university. Also run a company that sells music tech if you ever need anything! I used to teach privately but only ever took students that could demonstrate that they were prepared to do the hard work, practice practice practice which 90% of them didn't want to do, but I have had some great students over the years many of them out there earning a living at it. Mike
  11. Well I know fish have fingers. I live 10 mins walk from the beach and I can tell you every time I've tried fishing its very clear how many fingers the fish have been showing me! Excellent! what a great bunch of comedy writers we have. Mike Going back to the topic. I've been looking on youtube at reversing cameras being installed and it's really given me the push. The smaller screens look ok so I'm going to look over the weekend to see where I could put one. If I think there's space I think I'll get one ordered. BTW. I once went to a blues gig in Hampshire so let me know if anything comes up. Phil Where did you go and who did you see. There isn't much of a decent blues scene going in Basingstoke at present, loads of pub type bands doing what Muddy once said " those white boys wanna play the Blues so badly and they are" Let me know what you go for and how easy it was to install. Mike. I went to see Big Bill Morganfield who apparently is Muddy Waters son, he was brilliant, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. It was in a little venue in Havant, can't remember which one. I'll let you know which camera I get. Phil Yea thats right he is Muddys son, you can here it in his voice and phrasing. Muddy was one of the nicest guys ever to come out of the Blues he would never have a bad word to say about anyone. Mike
  12. 100?!! I bet you've got a 60's Strat. I went to see a job last week and the customer had a Jensen Healy in the garage which apparently hasn't seen the road for many years. I have plenty of Strats but none from the 60s the earliest one I have is a 74 in Candy Apple Red which I have completely customised and was my main working guitar together with a customised Telecaster from the late 70s a Hofner Lap slide which sounds better the more punishment I give it that comes from the 30s. I also use an Epiphone Sheraton from the late 70s which is set up for slide and I have set that up with strings 64 to 22 mighty big strings for a mighty big sound. Sadly because of the body complaining I am not able to gig like I used to but still do some studio work and the odd private function. Mike
  13. That's something I've considered with my ageing bones, and I see you can buy the complete kit with colour monitor for £50. The problem is the monitors look a bit bulky so I'm not sure quite where it would go. Large monitors, that's why I was going to go for the sun visor or rear view mirror the latter I would rather not as I love the dimming qualities of it. Its rare you get dazzled by some idiot talking on his phone rather than ensuring hid headlights should be on dip, and a wireless type. As for Chinese made goods don't knock them as they are now producing quality goods and have done for some time. By the way my snow button is useless the first thing I have found to carp about on my beautiful Lexus. Mike. I take it back the snow button is great. I live on a slope and an adverse camber so driving becomes exciting in this sort of weather but I noticed that if you gently pulsed the throttle it seem to gain a few inches hold and then pulse the throttle again and a few more inches gained eventually the car had managed to get itself out of a deep section of mud and snow. Brilliant !! Mike.

  15. We have a Ford Escort estate LPG of course for the wife so we are just a two car family which round these parts puts us in the poor category, I did used to have a Reliant Scimitar which was on a C plate one of the last to be registered before it went bust with just 40K on the clock when I had to sell her as I was having real difficulty getting in but even worse trying to get out. She was a fantastic car and I only bought her as a friend of mine had one when I was in my 20s and I always promised myself that one day I would have one. My other passion is guitars and I have around 100 or so. Mike

After all, they wouldn't be where they are now if they constantly produced rubbish. In fact a good friend of mine is made in China and there's nothing wrong with her! Brilliant !!! You cant do better than that. Mike

  19. No it would have to have a separate screen I was looking at rear view mirror type or a screen that could be fitted to a sun visor so you just pull it down when needed. Mike
  20. With the bones not moving as well as they used to when I was a blonde Adonis the idea of installing a rear camera makes sense, so has anybody done this to a MK4 and if so what do you consider to be the best out there for the money? Mike
  21. I did mine a couple of weeks ago but after being good initially they have gone back to how they were before. I will do it again, it may be I didn't put enough on. Mike
  22. Good advice. I travelled to the Midlands (took me 5 hours on the M25) and on the phone the guy said he would be open to offers, when he realised how far I'd travelled he only reduced it by £100! In the end I paid £2,400. With a private plate worth around £400 I'm more than happy with a car that really cost £2,000 with 94K on the clock, and it drives like new. I'll keep quite about having to have the starter repaired though! 5 hours to get to Birmingham on the M25 there is something wrong there with that statement ????? A lesson to all those speaking to dealers or anybody else selling a car and that is not to let on where you are coming from or tell them you only live a couple of miles from them Mike.
