  1. Well worth contacting each other as LOC members own probably the best well serviced LS out there. Mike
  2. Looks a nice car but would agree with the other points already raised plus no mention of cam belt being changed. If there is no evidence of this being done don't waste your money even traveling to see it unless they reduce the price by at least £800. Car is already priced to high. Mike
  3. If you get a ticket on those yellow lines contest contest contest as they are broken lines which mean they are not legal and therefore any tickets issued are useless. When they repair the road or dig it up the yellow lines have to be reinstated so the the lines do not have any gaps. Mike
  4. Good luck Mark. You echo the comments on the 430 that everyone who makes the upgrade has made but I am sure you will soon get used to it and have loads of fun with all the extra toys. Mike
  5. Good luck with the enterprise, you will make our government proud of you. Does anyone know what the factory finish is for a MK4? Mike
  6. You couldn't make it up. Well done and welcome back to the driving experience minus all the problem. Any idea which garage may have left it on there?? Mike
  7. Sounds like you need some serious counseling to enable you to handle these feelings of loss. Hang on in there you will be back with another LS your feelings cant be ignored forever. Mike
  8. "alacritous" cor blimey mate we are only mere mortals. The 1st MK3 I think has been around for a long while and far to much money even with the added noise extras. No2 Amazing how pictures can lie, still a lot of money for what the car is. No full service history. And as for the 3rd if he cant put himself out by putting up pictures why should you even consider giving him your hard earned money. Again an awful lot of money, for that you are looking for a FSH all the keys and a one owner car. 430 are going for that money. Good luck with the search. I will keep my eyes open. Mike
  9. Hi, Sounds like you should leave those alone. Even though you are not laying out a huge amount of money you should not be getting noises of any kind, if there are leave well alone. Neither should you accept mismatched anything. You should not be able to detect the gearbox going through the gears. This is not a quick process and the most important thing apart from having the money to buy it is patients. patients, patients. You cant hurry this process. Full service histories are very important, recent cam belt changes with invoice evidence that the work was done even more important. Always ask on here if the car is being advertised on the interweb what we think of it. Good luck Mike.
  10. Have you considered wether an LPG conversion is financially viable Go for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike
  11. You are not wrong with labeling that colour as bad luck because it used to be considered by insurance companies, bless them, that green cars were involved in more crashes than any other colour especially around twilight (there I go letting my romantic side through) It blends into the light so well they almost become invisible. Check it out when you next drive in those type of conditions. Mike
  12. I am hoping to go to southern France this year. Need to get the dogs pass-ported. Mike.
  13. I agree. We have used our village garage for more years than I care to remember but time is taking its toll on our special Motor Engineer. I call him an Engineer because that is what he is. He can often be seen on a lathe making something for a car that you cant get parts for anymore and indeed just to repair parts that are quite serviceable but need new brushes etc. But he now finds it hard to take on heavy work because of back trouble and therefore I split it between servicing and other light repairs goes to the village garage after that its down to Lexus in Reading. Mike
  14. Trains ???? They do breakdown quite regularly, especially if there are the wrong type of leaves on the tracks, constantly run late, uncomfortable especially if you have to stand and be in the unfortunate position of being next to someone whos bodily hygiene resembles that of something that has been dead for sometime and and on top of that they cost a fortune, so one shouldn't use them to compare The Lexus LS400. But I know what you mean about long journeys, although your journey wasn't the nicest journey to have to make. Mike
  15. You do have to take a lot of these figures with a pinch of salt as many manufactures will make their dealerships register new cars all though they haven't been sold, they are then sold as ex demonstrators over the coming months, this is something which is practiced quite widely with the more common marques on our roads which now include BMW, Mercedes, Ford etc. I would think that makes the LS figures the most honest figures ever supplied from the motor trade. Mike
  16. No smilies shown on mine which accounts for my appearance of being thick. Mike
  17. Brilliant site well worth book marking and visiting regularly. Mike
  18. Lets hope the new owner becomes a member. A lot of car for little money. My LS MK4 doesn't have the DHP option and is already amazingly fast but with that blower on there cant be to many cars on the road that can give it a challenge. Mike
  19. Wasn't me Steve! Funny thing is that before I bought my LS last summer I had not seen a MK 4 LS in dark green anywhere, now I see them regularly and at least three other members on here have the dark green colour. Great colour, I was looking for a silver one until my Lexie turned up in dark green and I have really grown to love it especially when shes just been washed and polished, she looks amazing. Mike
  20. Yep, clearly not a mass produced item! It would be interesting to know how this number (20) compares to other luxury cars at a similar price point. I bet they sold a lot more 7 series beemers and a lot more S class Mercs... Thats because there are a lot more people with bad taste than good like our good selves. Mike
