  1. After some torrential rain a few weeks back, my front nearside headlamp was running with condensation on the inside. Straight to Lexus dealership - they hadn't seen this issue before, which of course was a big issue on the IS200/300. I got it replaced this week under warranty. Result.
  2. Hi, Halfords are doing a 2 for 1 offer on their high performance bulbs, SuperBrilliance, etc. 2 for £18. Except they dont seem to stock H11s..... Anyone else had this problem or was it just this particular store. When I looked at the other makes, inc. Bosch etc they didnt have any IS250 bulbs either. Odd. Ta
  3. There is no Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty for have 'blue sidelights', I can assure you. There are many general offences though, which the constable at the time may have considered the offence to come under. I am sure there may be a 'misuse of lights' offence, but I am not 100%.
  4. Why did they make such a fuss about not having the blue sidelights - does that mean they are allowed to be used then? Aido, This 'not allowed blue sidelights' has become such an urban myth and legend that even some police officers believe it. Its just a lack of knowledge as opposed to any maliciousness. When you think about it, Xenon lights have a blue effect. But these arent illegal. You will notice that some HGV drivers will have small 'xmas' trees on their dashboard. This is perfectly legal, (as long as it doesnt affect his vision ahead), nor have any red bulbs in it! Remember - no RED to the front, no WHITE to the rear. You get the idea.......... In terms of the HID discussion, watch that ANY light you install does not dazzle oncoming drivers. This could constitute 'dangerous driving', due to the condition of the vehicle. It is not the colour that is the problem, unless of course it doesnt actually give you any light ahead!
  5. Hi, I have the basic Sky package at the moment. I have managed to get my hands on a 'free' SKY HD box. I dont intend to pay SKY their £10 a month premium to watch a few extra channels. I am led to believe that I can get the HD box installed, not by SKY, and it will work. I will get the usual channels plus BBC HD (but not the other HD channels) and Sky+ free. Is anyone an expert in this and can give some advice if this is correct? How much do you think it would cost to have the box installed? Cheers again.
  6. ''One thing people seem to forget is that you are forbidden to have blue lights up the front of a vehicle unless it's police etc - things like blue sidelights are illegal, and the way people are going with HIDs is going to make the situation worse - ie 8000k and above are just daft really as it's asking for trouble.'' No it isn't. The general rule is - no RED lights shown to the front, no WHITE lights shown to the rear (other than rear reg. plate lights, reversing light etc). The legislation makes no mention of colour other than that. What the legislation does say is that it is not permitted to have any rotating blue light similar to that used by the emergency services, or intended to imitate the emergency services. ANYONE who tells you different doesn't know their Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations well enough ............. Remember that a police officer doesnt have to have a reason to stop you in terms of the condition of your vehicle. The very fact your vehicle is on a road allows him/her to stop you to check your documents.
  7. Yes odometer starts again at 0. Never mind. I got it fixed at Glasgow Lexus. No quibbles.
  8. Hi, Got the car back after a few days at the garage. They replaced the odometer and the electric steering lock. What a difference. The car is as good as silent now on start up. Sweet.
  9. Hi, Now I think I may have asked this question before, but couldnt find it during the search Anyway I want a subtle rear spoiler for the 250. I went to Lexus - £250 painted. But they couldn't even show me a picture of the item! Anyone bought any on Ebay or elsewhere. Doesnt seem to be a lot of choice. Thanks again
  10. Reference my comment about the noisy electric steering lock.... Lexus Glasgow had a look at it today and agreed is was noisier than it should be. They will have my car for a few days take the appropriate bits off and investigate (he told me). If it needs replaced they will do it. They stated that they had not had to do this to any 250's before. And while they are at it they are going to replace my instrument cluster - the needles whizz round and sound like a 'bag o' nails'. Suits me.
  11. This is a good thread. Positivity at last. I was a member of the MINI and TypeR forums before. They were all negative as well. My car has had a few issues. Got one or two minor warranty points carried out today by Lexus Glasgow without any fuss. I also got my free winter check up and the car was washed. All very pleasant. The 250 is undoubtedly the most handsome car in its sector. Even Clarkson said so the other night.........
  12. My gamertag is Alfiedog. Oh sorry I have the Xbox 360. Better than the PS3 which is trying to be too many things instead of being good at one of them...... Oh dear this is beginning to sound like a 'I hate Lexus cause they're c**p, and instead of driving a 2.5 V6, I have bought a BMW 318d, which is I am desperately trying to make it has been a good purchase etc etc etc' type thread. Anyway whose on the 360, lets start a proper online GOW2 session. GOW2 - Gears of War, for all you PS3 owners.
  13. Mmmm, I think you will find that the Glasgow Lexus dealer, owned by Arnold Clark, does not offer a Lexus Warranty, but an Arnold Clark one. And you have to ask for it! I kid you not. It was only after some hard bartering that I managed to get a full Lexus Warranty for a year.
  14. Xbox 360 the way ahead! Shame on you PS3 people!!
  15. No issues fitting other than it was a bit of a pain. But i got there. No resistor was required. Looks very bright with the ultra white LEDS. Cheap Mod!
  16. I was with Bell for years but moved to Admiral, saving myself over £100 with reduced excess. Now down to £210 Fully Comp. NCB protected!!
  17. Hi, After about an hour or so, I managed to fit the white LED sidelights. I previously bought them from Ultraleds a while back. Is Ultraleds still the best place to buy these. Or are there better quality LEDS available elsewhere? White Xenon ones only! Ta
  18. Hi, Has anyone else noticed this? When the car is cold and for the first few miles driving put the car into 'manual mode' and operate the gears with paddles or the sequential shift. Note that your car will not move into six gear. The digital readout will say '6', but the Gear position readout above it will say '5'. Is this a safety feature to prevent a car going into a unnecessary high gear when cold? Or not? Thanks
  19. When you purchase cherished transfer/private reg. no., you never actually own the number. You own the right to display it. If you fail to display it in the correct manner, DVLA can take it from you with recompense. This usually happens when DVLA are informed by the police.
  20. Hello, I have a couple of LED sidelights from the old car, and was looking to put them in the 250. But how on earth do you get into the back of the headlight? I only looked at the drivers side and could get nowhere near removing the old bulbs. So gave up. Any advice? Cheers
  21. On a side issue, has anyone noticed the tailpipes on the newers IS's? They are bigger and are at an angle, following the curve of the rear bumper. Bet they're expensive!!
