  1. Thats what I was going to try next, see what happens....
  2. Over the last week or so, I think I have noticed a slight change in the gearchanges of the 'box... I am sure I am imagining things, but it seems like 3rd gear, or is it 4th, has got longer, before it moves up and then seems to grab at the next gear, less smooth than before. It is more noticeable at slower speeds (aboout 30/40mph). I think it is just me, but anyone else had this? Are there any known problems with the autobox? Cheers

    Hdtv

Therefore, HD Ready can receive and display HD signals AND has HDMI inputs for Xbox or DVD? A HD Compatible can receive and display, but does not have a HDMI input? Its all so confusing In the paper, an industry expert said, that he defied anyone to tell the difference between HD and normal telly unless the screen was around 65". I am looking at a 37" Toshiba, still confused.......... Thanks all
  4. Kronenburg Amaretto (or even a Midori!!)
  5. Hi, Needing some help on purchasing a 'HD Ready' TV, cause there has been a lot of bad press about it recently. Whats the difference between HDReady and HD Compatible? From my reading, it would appear that there is absolutely no difference whatsoever. Am I correct in saying that HDReady/Compatible are capable of receiving the HD signal and displaying it? But you really need a HD Tuner before that occurs? Therefore, you'll need Sky tv before a HDTV works? How comes BBC is shwoing the World Cup in HD then - will I need Sky to receive the BBC signal? And it wont work via a digital tuner? Thanks
  6. Mike, Looks good, but I have not been on the site recently, so how comes you've changed the wheels (again) How much were your chicanes?
  7. No they are different sizes......unfortunately, cause the 200 units are only about £40
  8. As in, can be cleaned and used for 1 million miles, sort of thing, whereas the Alexi, has the same shelflife as an original filter? Will there be much difference between the two, do you think? I have seen non-reuseable filters from several manufacturers inc HKS, Blitz & Apexi. Give me the quality of K&N any time! Your word is good enough for me!!

  10. what does that mean?? Where did you get your filter?
  11. Hi, Ebay has two direct replacement filters for the IS300 One is a K&N - £60 The other is APEXi £44 ANy difference between the two do you think?? Thanks
  12. To reiterate the point You cannot 'hotwire' newer vehicles (generally post 1997) - it is virtually impossible. Older vehicles, generally Japanese vehicles, were brought into this country at port without any form of immobiliser sytem and were fitted at the port with aftermarket systems, which were easy to bypass. Sophisticated computer software together with considerable time and effort is required to bypass any system at the roadside and it is not viable for a thief to invest such resources. The only way it can really be done at the roadside is by having a seperate ECU, wiring loom, keys and ignition for the vehicle and replacing the parts - again not practical. It is far easier to break into your home and steal your keys, hence the increase in housebreakings (burglary) in your local area. Rest easy.
  13. For all computer buffs, of which I am not really one... I want to copy small clips from dvd films and use them in a Powerpoint presentation. I am trying to use DVDShrink software to do this. Has anyone else made use of this software, because I am having some difficulty or can they recommend something else for this purpose. thanks
  14. Hi, The interior light bulb on my IS has broke. It is the bulb in front of the rear view mirror. Despite a good half hour poking about, I cant for the life of me work out how to remove the clear plastic cover to replace the bulb. Can anyone assist??
  15. My IS300 is due a service. Cost £362 from Lexus Edinburgh. I am told that this is a two hour job. My car is now out of warranty. Can anyone give me one solid good reason, financial or otherwise, why I should get Lexus to do this for me, when my local Performance Centre Specialist, who I normally take my cars to for all work, will do the same job, with Lexus parts for half the price. I cant think of any.
  16. I am opening an old topic here I am going to buy the Klasses All In One, which I assume does exactly as it says on the tin (clean and polish) followed by the Sealant Glaze, which I already have. What Carnauba wax should I buy - nothing expensive - I already have the Meguiars stuff - will this do? Cheers

    Servicing ?

They're not - Lexus 'technicians' are trained differently - I asked a dealer a while ago on this subject which came up before - Toyota 'technicians' are not permitted to work on Lexus cars - how this works in the real world might be a bit different.
  18. Is this the same kit as the blue one - confused, I like both of them - are these from Prolex?
  19. Stamped no. under the bonnet at the back of the engine compartment - the visible number is beneath the tax disc

    Is300

My friend, it is an excellent car - totally different drive from the 200 and the Sport button makes a difference too - mpg suffers though!!
  21. Anyone fitted aftermarket parking sensors to their car? How easy to fit?
  22. Hello to all, In true Scotsman fashion - what do I get for £80!! I like the look of it and it would compliment the Strathcarron Blue very well...

    Telly

Thanks all Plasma tellies are quite cheap at the moment certainly cheaper than LCD, which makes me think that the LCD is the better technology I have always had Sony or Toshiba, but the more I read, the more I am told that you are paying for the name as opposed to picture or build quality. Panasonic Samsung and LG seem to be very well rated - I have never liked Philips tellies We will wait n see
  24. I have heard a couple of people mention the phrase tramlining What is that?
