  1. Any ideas ? It started about 3 days ago - about 2 or 3 times it briefly appeared when pressing brake. This morning it appeared about 6 or 7 times and stayed on a lot longer.
  2. Ricky, Great guy who lives in Cheadle Hulme (near Stockport, Cheshire). He did it for £850 - came complete with 2 year stitch guarantee. I can give you his telephone number if you want (not got it to hand until I get home). Only problem is he needs the car at least 5 days. One thing to be sure of though is to get an exact match. I was a bit quick with choosing and the shade didn't quite match. Only me who really noticed it but everyone else thought it was superb. Gary PS. Someone on here should defo buy the Sport off djmike. You'll know it's been looked after and I think it's good value.
  3. I drove to my girlfriend's house on the way back from the snapped aerial disaster and on my way out to the car some kids on bikes shouted "nice car". I replied "Cheers a lot". They then asked how much I'd paid for it and I replied "Oh I can't tell you that". One of the lads then said and this is no word of a lie "You must be a footballer with a car like that" !!!!! :D I told them I play five-a-side in nets and that's the limit to my ability. However for a short time I forgot about the snapped aerial incident ! PS. I never got comments like that about my BMW 5 series.
  4. Cheerz a lot lads ! So it's nnother call to Lexus Sheffield tomorrow. They'll be sh**ing themselves when reception say "it's GaryC on the phone". Theyll be thinking I want to swap the car/wheels/suspension again
  5. Mike, Sorry to hear about this. I sold my BMW on eBay, got the price I wanted + millions of emails and phone calls. If you don't mind me saying your eBay ad is not doing justice to the car at all. Assuming it is in great condition inside and out you need to take good quality piccies of the inside as well. Here is the link to my BMW ad so you can see how to present it right. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=2426061455 Nearly 1200 people looked at my ad so there was genuine interest. I can do some simple HTML code for you make the ad stand out more as well if you want. PS. It's about time I helped out someone else on here as I'm always asking for help ! Regards, Gary Email me on gary_culpan.yahoo.co.uk if you any more help.
  6. F*** :tsktsk: f*** :tsktsk: f*** :tsktsk: f*** Finally got everything sorted with Lexus Sheffield. They rang today and said "As a gesture of goodwill for the problems with brakes, not spraying the front grille as promised etc etc we have your brand new car mats and latest sat nav CD". Great I thought so I'veranged to drive down on Saturday morning and they'll fix the gear surround lights while I'm there as well. On the way home tonight I decided to visit this spangled new drive through car wash which has velvet brushes. They don't scratch the car. The only thing I was concerned about was the brushes jamming in the gap in the spoiler and yanking it off. No problems were encounted as the wash completed. I drove out of the car wash and stopped to inspect the back. The :tsktsk: aerial was snapped !!! I forgot to take the key out when I drove it in I was that paranoid about the spoiler. Anyway it hung there with a big plastic flexible line and I put the key back in and tried to keep the aerial inside. No joy. The absolute pants thing is the aerial comes out even when the radio is not selected - total s*** that is. Anyway I got home and so I could at least listen to the CD tomorrow I got some scissors to cut the plastic flexible line and cover the hole where the aerial was. The plastic was a bit tough and didn't look like it would cut. Suddenly it cut it and the scissor gouged two scrapes into the side of the spoiler. I nearly wept in the street. Anyway please can someone tell me how much it is to get a new electric aerial fitted ? I think they are pants and would rather have one that is embedded in the windscreen or a small one at the top of the rear window (there is an aerial for a phone there but that's no good is it ?) What are the options for aerials ? The two scratches on the spoiler aren't too big (1cm and 2cm) but because they have cut through the paint they look dark and very distinctive. How much would it cost to put this right ? Can I do it myself ? I'm gutted at the moment.
  7. Thanks. You've all been a great help. I have no issue with Lexus Sheffield where I bought the car as they have made great efforts to sort out some of the niggles with the car (offering free car mats, pick car up, loan another car etc). However the dealer who offered me £9000 trade-in are a disgrace. As soon as I finish posting this I am writing a stinging letter to head office. At the end of the day the Lexus company is advertised as a big happy family. Just looking at the website info and the way the dealers say "Oh when you buy a Lexus you are buying into prestige etc etc. You can take your car anywhere. We'll all look after you BS BS BS.....". Instead it seems like a load of Honest Joe Motors, all totally independent and couldn't care less about each other. One dealer says "Oh they have charged you too much", another will say "Oh they are hopeless", some laugh etc. What sort of image are Lexus trying to promote ? I'm still fuming over the £9000 offer and mark my words the dealer (who shall remain nameless for the time being) will bitterly regret it.
  8. Took the Beast down from Manchester to London for a good run out. 95% happy with it now. On new road surfaces it is almost totally silent but bit noisy on less than ideal road surfaces. Cruises effortlessly, sat nav great, 32mpg on the run so all ok.... apart from the boneshaking ride on bumpy town driving. That's the only thing that slightly puts me off the car. I saw a Tuscany Flame SE on the Lexus website (another dealer) and it was roughly the same price as I paid for mine (£15,000). So I rang the dealer and told them the story. "Great car in nearly every respect but I think I should have bought an SE in hindsight" I said. They said "We'll see what we can do for you in terms of a deal on the SE we are selling". They rang me back and said "We can strike up a deal for you !!!!! We'll give you £9000 for your car !" I've had it less than three weeks !!!!! The next bit of conversation was basically :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: Dear dear me. What a shambles.
  9. Gary, 36 years old. Single. IT Infrastructure Specialist working at Pharmaceutical company in Cheshire. Girlfriend works in media and plants Braeburn apple stickers all over my car where I can't see them. No screaming kids. Live in Stretford, Manchester near the swamp (Old Trafford). Hate United, love City. Brian Wilson is ***. Love visiting USA. Go twice a year on holiday and until recently twice a year on business.
  10. How about a database of muppet drivers ? Something like this :- Make Model Annoying Habit Muppet factor VW Passat TDi Cutting you up 8 BMW 318i Debadging the car 10 Renault Laguna Sticking a spoiler on it 7 Audi A4 TDi Basically being a tit 9 Lexus GS300 Cool dudes 0 Does this help ?
  11. I haven't used mine as it's only me who drives it also. But I like the buttons being there. I love loads of buttons, lights and gizmo's. Most useful thing on my car are the reversing sensors. Brilliant they are.
  12. Last night driving home I got to the slip road to get off the motorway and a P reg BMW 7 series (debadged of course which means it's the base model 728i) flew up my *****, undertook me on the slip road and then cut in front of me with only a few feet to spare before stopping at the lights. I nearly got out and smacked the dangerous bstard. Silly thing was he was driving a P reg BMW ! What statement was he trying to make ? "Hey I'm just showing you that I have an inferior, older, cheaper car than yours". What an idiot. I wish I had an illuminated sign which read...."Give me your car and £15,000 and you can have mine".
  13. Just put "no leather, no memory seats, no sunroof etc. " :D Only joking Loz !
  14. The Mark 2 isn't ugly at all. The Mark 1 is nice though - I had a riviera white one (stuck a spoiler on it). Only thing that the car lacked was a fuel computer. But who wants to see what the beast drinks eh ?
  15. High pitched rattle coming from back seat area when hitting a bump going over uneven surface. Bloody annoying it is as the rest of the car is rattle free. It is the bottom black plastic baffle under the cupholders in the rear armrest. If you pull the armrest out and the cupholders and then knock the armrest you'll get the rattle. So when the armrest is upright into the seat the black plastic baffle is basically rattling backwards and forwards in the cupholder unit. Not sure how to stop it yet without messing up the operation of cupholders but at least I know what it is. So if anyone has experienced this rattle this is the answer.
  16. Impressive ! I was expecting one of those tacky things that look like an ice detetor that you stick on your wing mirror !
  17. Thanks for the help. I've dropped the pressures to 32 all round and it's a lot better. It'd difficult buying a car at the best of times but due to timings and distance to Sheffield it meant I test drove the car much less than I should have. With hindsight I probably would have bought an SE and had a spoiler put on it but I liked the look of the one I've got. It's encouraging that there are a few posts mentioning quieter tyres than my Pirellis and one which said the 18" tyres are quieter than 17". One more quick quessy. If I dropped the psi to say 30 would that be disasterous for the tyres ? (the minimum it states is 32). I have noticed a big difference in comfort dropping them from 35 to 32. I don't mind losing a little bit of life on the tyres and loss of mpg. It's surely better than trading the car in or swapping for smaller alloys (daft idea I know).
  18. Next niggle in the long list so far. My GS300 Sport Mk 2 is quite noisy when cruising on the motorway. This is a big shame as the car is totally silent when stopped at lights (can't even hear the engine). I know it's the 18" wheels and low profile tyres that are causing it - as it's road noise that's the problem. Short of swapping the wheels for 17" (and getting the 18" ones back when I come to sell it) are there any alternatives ? Which tyres are the quietist ? Are all tyre sizes the same for a wheel (ie can I get thicker tyres on the same size alloys ?) My tyres are Pirelli Assymetrico 245/40 ZR18 97Y. I don't mind loss of grip I want whisper quiet ride on the motorway.
  19. Great clip. Are you the one who wrote the book of safe driving ? PS. I love this bit of your signature !....."Parking Sensor With Blue L.C.D Display" - show us all a clip of that as well ! :D
  20. Like your style Loz ! I spoke to Lisa. She was the one who told me it was impossible that the gear numbers light up. I spoke to Lexus Sheffield and they are picking my car up next week, sorting it out and putting brand new car mats in it !!!!
