  1. Tom Pryce - South African F1 Grand Prix 1977 springs to mind. Tom Pryce hit a marshall who was crossing the track to assist a driver on the other side who had a small fire in the car. The marshall was so badly mashed up his body was in many bits and pieces all over the place. He was hit at 170mph. It's on youtube if you are brave enough to watch. People like Clarkson make me puke - the guy is simply vile.
  2. My mate told me to go easy on the heated seats as they use loads of fuel. I had a look in the owners manual and there is no mention of it using fuel in there. It just states not to keep them on too much when the engine isn't running or it'll drain the battery.
  3. Leather = style, quality and prestige. The leather in the IS is beautiful and in a different league to the crud you get in BMWs.
  4. Ignore this post. I've found the answer. I must learn to use Google more !
  5. I know what the speed dial list is but what is the speed tone list ? Does anyone know what that does ?
  6. Why not just stick it in PARK and leave the footbrake alone ? You don't need to ride the brakes at all ???? I only ever use the footbrake when parked up and leaving the vehicle.
  7. Just been reading this old thread.... I thought you would only use the handbrake/footbrake when parked up and if at the traffic lights or stopped in traffic just put it in "PARK". Apparently not according to a Police driver I know. In an auto you should always put in "NEUTRAL" and use the footbrake/handbrake. What a load of rubbish that is. He did say that if someone smacked into you whilst you were in PARK it would knacker the gearbox but not if it was in neutral with the handbrake on. Well tough titties I say - it'd be covered by insurance.
  8. Hey up, I bought a phone charger for the armrest and the problem is it sticks up too much that the armrest won't close so I can't charge the phone without having wires hanging out eveywhere and the phone in an awkward position. Is there a charger that fits in the armrest ?
  9. Oh dear sorry to hear about that. Come on peeps give him some support. He's pranged his pride and joy :shutit:
  10. No passenger in car this morning and the Airbag ON light is showing in orange in the centre console....
  11. Yes of course but with the SE-L and Multimedia, reverse parking becomes pure theatre. You put the car in reverse, the electric blind folds away, the wing mirrors tilt and there is a superb TV picture of the rear with electronic guide markings. Magic ! It's great fun in supermarket car parks when you reverse and see on the screen people sprinting past to get away from the car or people pushing trolleys past. Great fun.
  12. I think I know what's happened here. Get her to log in again and fire up Internet Explorer. When you see it in the taskbar, right click on it and click on maximize. The window will then maximize on the screen. Then close the window as normal with the "X" in the top corner. Next time she fires it up it should be ok. Somehow she must have flicked the window to the side of the screen.
  13. You've got it ! The rattle I am hearing is coming from the seat belt height adjuster housing. It's actually inside the housing as the rattle can't be stopped by messing about with the adjuster. Just been round Cornwall and Devon and my missus said the rattle was right next to her left ear. Should be easy to fix as it doesn't rattle on my side.
  14. You won't regret getting the auto. You can use the manual shift anyway on the gearstick and the paddles.
  15. Are you sure you need the Sport model ? After the last two cars being the Sport versions I prefer the more compliant ride of the normal suspension. You can throw the car round corners no problem (not that you'd want to do that) and don't get the hard ride. I once bought a GS300 Sport and it was a mistake for me as the ride was far too hard. Things may have changed now but I regretted not getting the standard GS300 back then. My dealer stuck a spoiler on my IS250 so it looks sporty anyway without the firmer ride of course.
  16. The two airbag indicators come on when turning the key but on starting the engine the passenger airbag light stays on. It shows "Airbag ON". I can't remember whether this should always be lit up.
  17. Just go out and get one ! I've just taken my new car around Cornwall and Devon. The car was brilliant. The first leg of our journey was Manchester to Bristol and it did 42 mpg !!! The whole trip average was 33.9 mpg over the 1100 miles we did. We stopped off in loads of places with steep hilly climbs so that brought the average mpg down a bit. The car is a joy to drive, quiet, refined, quick. In Torquay we were parked just up the road from the famous Gleneagles Hotel (the one that inspired Fawlty Towers). We walked back from visiting the hotel and when I got back to my car a bloke ran over and said "Can I ask you about your car. It's lovely." I spent ten minutes showing him all the features and he was that impressed said he was going to buy one ! This car is a hard act to follow and it will severely limit my choice of next car as it has to have the reversing camera - I can't live without that feature. It's a fabulous motor.
  18. Right that's it, I've moved on from voice command guides, I'm going to invent a rattleometer !
