  1. Hi Steve It sounds like you have the same problem I encounted when I did my Mk2 last year . The original ball joint will fit the new struts ,the pain is removing it from the old ones. Some time spent with a hacksaw and pliers did the job for me ,just be carefull not to cut too deep and damage the ball. Good luck with it.
  2. Hi Colin I solved my water leak by fitting a new boot rubber seal ,from Seals Direct cost about £35 with vat and delivery ,you need about 4 metres of ETS59 . http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=68 My drive is on a slope and the boot used to be soaked after even a small shower since replacing the rubber it is bone dry. Probable the best £35 I have spent on the car. Thanks go to the member whose post pointed me to this site and what seal to buy. Good luck with your leak!
  3. Two's good ,one for mundane stuff picking up gran kids ,shopping etc and one for weekends and special occasions .
  4. Hi Pete There is an adjuster located on the cable under the car somewhere. When I did mine the adjustment on the drums was enough to get it working ok. This is what it says about adjusting the parking brake in my Mk2 manual. PARKING BRAKE 1. With a force of 66.1 lbs. (30 kg) push down on parking brake foot pedal while counting clicks. If 5-7 clicks are not counted, parking brake requires adjustment. 2. Fully release parking brake. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Remove adjuster hole plug from rear hub. Install wheel lug nuts to hold rotor in place. Turn adjuster (expanding parking brake shoes) until rotor binds. Turn adjuster back approximately 8 notches (until disc turns freely). 3. Install adjuster hole plug. Install rear wheels, tighten lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 N.m). Locate parking brake cable adjuster under vehicle. Loosen adjuster lock nut and adjuster until parking brake pedal travel is 5-7 clicks. I hope this is of some help.
  5. Jonathon ,hi If it is fairly close to your location I would advise going to have a look . The MOT date in the header dosent match the one in the description , the body looks ok from the pictures but in the flesh may not look so good. Being an import your insurance company might sting you a bit , also there is no mention of any history. I would think the max its worth is about half what they are asking. If you look around and are prepared to wait a bit you can pick up a reasonable Mk3 or 4 for that price or less even. Good luck with your searching.
  6. Sorry they looked ok before I posted. How do you insert a pic into a post? Doh,seem to have partly corrected the pic part.
  7. Hi,Martin These are some pics from my Mk2 vac pipes that might help with your problem. The vac diagrams in my manuel are pretty crap and not much help . More here if you need them. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/gallery/media/14009#pic http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/gallery/media/14008#pic
  8. Hi, Tazio I did mine with this stuff last year , Vactan rust converter and primer . Then used black waxoil underbody protector sealer, some areas are hard to reach with the spray ,I used a small brush to reach these . No sign of any rust returning so far. The vactan is available from ebay for about £8.00 for a 500ml bottle ,enough to do most of the car I should think. Good luck with your car.
  9. Hi,ozz Check out this site for LS400 facts and tutorials, along with this forum the LEXLS site really helped with my early forays into the mecanicals of the beast. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/maintenance/airfilter.html Hope you enjoy your car as much as I have mine.
  10. Hi Paul , my Mk 3 fob has three buttons on one side and a red panic one on the reverse ,there is an L stamped just above this .No mention of Toyota on any of my fobs ,its possible yours is a replacment fob from Toyota. There was a post several days back about a problem with a two button fob on a MK3, the guys who replied with MK 3's all had four button fobs . Enjoy your new car!
  11. Slightly off the topic but in reply to ,abs66 regarding RockAuto . I can recommend them ,I have used them twice in the past year, both my orders arrived within four days. They do stock some parts that are hard to obtain here and their prices are competitive even with the postage costs ,my last order for plug leads ,rotors and distributor caps came to £74 inc postage, all the items were of reasonable quality no Chinese junk .They also send you a monthly newsletter which can be quite interesting and will email any offers on parts for your car . I have been a member on here for over a year now since I bought my LS and would like to say a big thank you to all the members whose posts have been very helpfull in keeping my beast in good order.
