  1. Mark hi,and welcome. Just to clarify point 3, is it the control buttons that are the problem or the temp/time display ? the latter is a fairly common problem on the Mk2 ,the only cure for that is an LCD replacment. The steering tilt and slide is powered by two motors so unlikely both have failed ,common to both is the tilt and slide ECU with attendant wiring which could be the problem ,there is a fuse but this also protects other circuits which you don't mention as having problems. There is also a 30amp circuit breaker ,I had this fail on mine a couple of years ago with similar symptoms to you. The circuit breaker is located under the dash on the fuse panel ,if it is OC when checked with a multimeter you have found the culprit. I took the thing apart cleaned it and reassembled which fortunately restored it to working order ,I meant to source a replacement but completely forgot all about it until your post. For the memory problem are you setting it as per the handbook and do you hear a beep when it sets. Best of luck with your niggles.
  2. Thanks for pointing this out Ian ,I was going to order a couple of those Steve recommended for my Mk2 . Looks like I will have to look elsewhere , were the ones you fitted new or guaranteed used ones?
  3. Hi Manuel ,personally I would only use the NGK or Denso iridium plugs . As for oil I use Toyota 5w-30w fully synth £22.99p delivered for 5litres .
  4. In my Mk3's I use Toyota 5w/30w synthetic ,£22.99 for 5 Litres delivered I change it every six months ,do a lot of stop start short journeys . In the old Mk2 I use Castrol GTX 5w/30w often available at Asda for £12 for 4 litres .The old lady who owned it before told me that's what it liked so who am I to argue ,she had it ten years and I have had it over three and it is still going strong. If you are changing it regularly then premium priced oils are a waste of money especially if you are on a tight budget .
  5. Hi Gary ,I hope your LPG install works out ok for you ,if you do a lot of miles it will be worth it . Not for me though only do about 3000miles a year spread between three cars , whose total cost was less than an average LPG install .
  6. Nearly choked on my cappuccino ,at that first line . The forum misses your insightful posts ,hows your search for an LS going?
  7. Thanks for clearing that up for me Steve. I know that scenario only to well ,once people know that you work with electrikery you become a magician who can fix anything with wires attached.
  8. Glad the sale went well ,all the best with whatever you end up driving in the future .
  9. Your reg no is very similar to mine Ian which also ends in BAM , it originated from Swindon Lexus when first Registered in August 1994 . Pics look good I hope you enjoy your car as much as I have mine . What happens on the times it dosent Malc ?
  10. I guessed the Lexus price would be something silly , my brother in law has supplied me with one and half metre's of 10mm copper pipe which I hope will do the job . Mine is pretty scabby and has been weeping fluid for about six months ,as you say better to get it sorted before it blows .
  11. Thanks for that info , I might have a go at it this weekend if the rain holds off and I feel better .
  12. Did you have to remove the bumper to get to the pipe ? it looks a bit of squeeze to get in there otherwise . The cooling pipe on my Mk2 is weeping ,so will have to fix it soon.
  13. Sorry Ian for hijacking your thread ,above post should be for Marvs. Sorry about that gaff Steve I will blame it on the man flu I am suffering with at present .
  14. Hi Ian , on two of my cars it was just the reservoir O ring ,on the Mk2 some of the other seals were shot also .Nine times out of ten I think the reservoir O ring is the culprit , which is easier to replace on the Mk2 than later cars , the Lexls power steering pump removal tutorial shows the reservoir and O ring you need to replace. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/steering/pspumpremoval.html You just need to siphon the fluid from the reservoir then remove the three bolts ,fairly easy if you have the right tools ,use some rag or paper towel to avoid the mess they made in the tutorial. Good luck fixing your leak . Will wait to hear if you can supply the LCD details.
  15. Thanks for that info Steve I will check out fleabay ,now I know the uni ones will work .
  16. Hi Steve sounds like you have been busy , the part number for the power steering pump reservoir O ring is 90301-12003 cheaper from a Toyota garage rather than Lexus. If you could put up the details of where you sourced the temp and time LCD it would be welcome. I bought one from the States, unfortunately it was a left hand drive version .
  17. Hi Steve ,I have also been following your adventure with interest . Where did you purchase your O2 sensors and what sort of price are they ? I have been getting code 21 and 28 so will be looking to replace mine in the near future. I hope you sort the remaining problem soon .
  18. Steve ,the bit Parrot is on about is below and behind the OBD socket . If you contort yourself and look under where the socket is you can see the steering column UJ just above the pedals .
  19. Unless both of mine are also missing I guess Lexus just skimped a bit on the trim under there .
  20. Hi Norman ,your pic is not showing . I hope you have found your problem and it is not serious.
  21. Thanks for that Mike ,an enjoyable 20mins . Pity Clarkson cannot do a similar job when doing a revue ,but I suppose it is all about him and not the car .
  22. Thanks for clearing up the rain issue Matt, I can understand the wind problem as the tent thing is pretty flimsy . I do have a reasonable size parking area 2xLS400 size so that wasn't an issue with mine .
