  1. No way it'll go for 8 or 9K. I reckon it'll sell for 5 figures no problem. Maybe not £15K, but over 10 no doubt. Just updated my own car's mileage (84K) on the Autotrader app, and it's apparently still worth £7400 as a trade-in or £9000 selling privately. Incredible!
  2. Thanks. I used to get my car serviced at Lexus Edinburgh, but not since they put an end to the discounted "Essential" scheme for older cars.
  3. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202308211051891?atmobcid=soc3 Only 3000mls and looks perfect. Basically a "new old stock" 2IS. Great colour combo too. MOT history shows it clocking fewer than 200mls per year most of it's life.
  4. Congratulations on the pass. Rear brake pads are a very cheap and easy fix. £20-30 and something you can easily DIY.
  5. Even if you can make it fit, I'd imagine a stock RCF exhaust would be pretty quiet. Probably no different to the IS250 system. Or is it just for looks - quad pipes?
  6. As well as DVD playback, I think the ability to rip CDs onto the head unit might be unique to the ML system. Both IS250s I've owned have had an HDD-based nav unit, but only the Mark Levinson one in my previous car let me rip CDs onto it. About 20GB of the HDD's capacity is allocated for the purpose, IIRC. And, to clarify an earlier question. A 32GB USB drive is definitely compatible. At least on a 2011 model it is. I checked the one in my car earlier and that's what size it is.
  7. And me. 🙂 Did exactly this and ripped 100+ CDs via Windows Media Player onto my computer, then bulk transferred the files onto a (FAT32-formatted) USB stick which has been residing in my centre console for years now. Once transferred, they appear all organised in alphabetical order - by Artist, with album titles and track listings present. It's all done automatically. You could probably go a step further and create separate folders on the USB drive for each artist, but it's not something I've bothered with. I already know when I scroll down and see, for example; - 100th Window - Blue Lines - Heligoland - Mezzanine - Protection That I'm in the M section of the alphabet (Massive Attack).
  8. Only with 18" wheels. On the models with 17s they're the same size front and back.
  9. Well, I was talking in absolute terms about the effect of a certain size of wheel spacer. Nothing more. But, if we also introduce the tyre into the equation, then that's a whole different can of worms as the tyres are a variable. Not all tyres are equal. Yeah, a 225 is a 225, but is it really just 225mm wide? In theory it is, but I'm sure you'll find many are actually wider than that in actual physical width. So, I couldn't categorically state that "the tyre" will be x amount of mm closer to the wheel arch. That would depend on tyre type/brand. As for 225 still being wider than the wheel. I find this disputable given that not all tyres are equal. Certainly, the tyres I have on the front of my own car look slightly stretched, if anything. Yes, 8 inches might be 203mm, but wheel width is measured internally between the tyre mounting surfaces. The actual outside width on a 8J wheel will be closer to 9".
  10. When you stated that a 20mm spacer would somehow only have a 10mm effect. The tyre size is irrelevant. A 20mm spacer will move the wheel outwards by....20mm!
  11. ? 20mm wheel spacers increase the track by 20mm each side (40mm overall), not 10mm. As for the original question, I would personally stick with the 245s. Whether the car needs a tyre that wide might be questionable, but the increase in wheel arch gap and harsher ride quality with a 225 would drive me crazy.
  12. 2011-2012 cars are slightly more efficient. Can't remember exactly why this is, or how it is achieved, but the newest models have better fuel economy and lower emissions which puts them into a cheaper tax band - J instead of K.
  13. That'll explain why they're broken! Don't worry, I made the same mistake...hence why I know those part numbers. 😀 For future reference, have the parking brake OFF. And, also remove the rubber plug on the disc to reveal the adjustment cog for the parking brake. You can turn it with a flathead screwdriver. You need to loosen it off a little so the disc comes off without grabbing the shoes. You can drive the car fine until you get it repaired. Just avoid using the parking brake.
  14. Looks like the hold down pins have broken off. In the top picture, that hole in the middle of the brake shoe...there should be a small pin protruding there. Upon which, a small coil spring and a cap fit over it and keep the shoes snug against the backing plate. These are the part numbers to replace them. Pin - 47447-10020 Spring - 90501-16118 Spring cap - 47449-30030 Did you slacken off the parking brake before removing the disc?
  15. In addition to the above advice, make sure the IS250 is an automatic. A manual one will cost an eye-watering £675 a year for road tax.* * unless it's a very early 55-plate example.
  16. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66521490 Car insurer Admiral has lost thousands of customers on the back of steep price rises which mean motorists are paying more than ever for insurance. The British insurer said profits had risen 4% to almost £234m despite losing 380,000 customers over the last year. 🤬
  17. So, does the viewpoint switch to a wider angle one when indicating? If so, that's definitely an advantage.
  18. What's the advantages of having these? Seems like another case of tech for tech's sake
  19. You could upgrade to RCF/GSF bushes. A few IS250 owners have fitted them recently I'm pretty sure the LCA bushes are a common part shared across many models.
  20. Yeah. There's 2 bulbs in there. The one you need to change is the small one in the upper half. You might need to remove or loosen the air filter box for access. (Or just buy the bulbs from Halfords and have them fit 'em for £10 or whatever)
