  1. I think you have all the important points here, but to recap: - Boot is small, and non-existant with the roof down. Ride is harder. SC is more fun, it just is :) SC will keep value better.
  2. Try Motorline Lexus in Tunbridge Wells, ask for Colin in service. I paid a lot less than that. Tell him what he needs to beat.
  3. Yes, it's the official Lexus conversion that was given to UK owners when they complained back in the early 00s, the boot carpet also has a cutout, and the roof cover attaches via a strap.. You do lose a lot of boot space when the roof is down though :)
  4. Cam belt + Major Service + aircon regas + MOT cost me £1,100 at Lexus Tunbridge Wells. I was happy with that. Pictures of space save wheel/tyre are attached.
  5. Hi Simon, welcome, some answers: - Cam belt, 10 years or 100k, so yes you need to do it. Always do the water pump as well when you are in there. Run flats make the ride very hard. Most cars have had them replaced and carry a 'get you home' spare. Plugs I believe are every 10 years as well (not cheap either), I've had my cam belt/water pump done (2002 car), and will do plugs next year :) Hope this helps. Paul.
  6. My MK1 has the Mk2 wheels, they look a lot better. Agree with most of the other comments, the aerial is just plain stupid. Also the fuel and boot release next to each other where you can't see them - daft.
  7. My 2002 SC was done last year, and they fixed the broken ashtray from the fix this year :)
  8. Have to say my Lexus main dealer in Tunbridge Wells is pretty good, and spot of for pricing. I've done servicing and belts/water pump and some 'investigative' stuff. If you're close, ask for Colin! (P.S. I have no affiliation with Colin, Lexus or the motor trade :) )
  9. Apologies, I meant where did you get the suspension done?
  10. Where did you have this done, looks like a good idea?
  11. I think personalised plates are exactly that, personal. I have had the same one for a lot of years, so i never have to remember what it is! Most 90 years old I know wouldn't dream of going out without make-up!
  12. Would appreciate the door card off info, the large speaker in my door is rattling, apparently a common problem with the foam breaking up. I have a repair kit, just need to get the door off!
  13. Buy one, you won't be disappointed, 15k will get you a very good one. Put a personalised plate on it and it will look and feel brand new.
  14. There are some procedures for doing this on one of the forums, but obviously I wouldn't recommend it.
  15. You get what you pay for, comparing a noughties SatNav with a current one is never going to work, even with upgraded disks. I have a 2002 device, with the latest maps, and it works OK, no Post Codes, but pretty good otherwise. When I want Post Codes I use my TomTom 400 which also adds speed cameras (always a bonus :)) but looks naff on the wind screen.
  16. Silver always looks clean :) We have 3 black cars and my Lexus....guess which one I clean?
  17. Maybe that's why, I haven't hit the 50k yet :)
  18. Could you post a picture (pretty please) so I can make it complete! Thanks...Paul.
  19. That would make sense as I have the later Series 2 wheels.
  20. Thanks for both the replies. Haven't found a torch anywhere, and it's way to slim for that. The screwdriver is in a little black pouch with spanners, pliers and a tyre pressure checker (which seems a bit redundant when you install a TPMS system!).
  21. I'm told by my Lexus dealer the plugs need changing every 12 years and I was quoted £280. Does that sound similar to your experience? I declined this year :)
  22. So I was cleaning the SC this morning, and I got to the deeper parts which you don't often visit. On checking the tool kit, there seems to be an empty slot next to the wheel wrench, see picture. I checked the manual and nothing is listed, but it does seem that there should be something there. Could someone check theirs for me please? Thanks...Paul.
  23. Reliability should not be an issue, mine is 12 years old, and it's been 100% bullet proof for years. You will get occasional things, but reliability is not something I'd worry about. Now boot size, that's another question!
  24. No Bluetooth on the early cars, unless an after market kit has been fitted.
  25. Not in Notts.....Surrey or Cheshire, maybe....
