  1. Just thought I'd share this with you all. Recently had my insurance renewal through from Zurich for a frankly unbelievable £780 for my SC430. Did the usual scan through gocompare, and confused, and eventually ended up with a Admiral multicar policy that brought the Lexus down to £284 (with guaranteed protected NCB). At the same time I looked at breakdown cover and my wife found a great offer using Tesco clubcard vouchers that'd given me breakdown cover (including recovery and home assistance) for 4 of us for £80 worth of vouchers. A good morning's work!
  2. I also have a 2002 SC430, and had the same issue when I first bought it. Battery drained, but held charge when disconnected. Eventually I replaced the battery, and have had no further problems. Warning though, some web sites sell supposed SC430 batteries that are too tall, so you can't close the bonnet! Measure carefully first. Never seen the issue with the aerial. Good luck...Paul.
  3. I've been told cambelt is 10 years on my 2002 SC430. I checked with 2 Lexus garages and they both said the same. Apparently it's about a £500 Lexus bill for the work.
  4. It's 2121 according how http://howmanyleft.co.uk/combined/sc_430
  5. Many thanks, will look into it....
  6. Sounds good, do you have the exact part numbers and approx cost?
  7. For iPod integration on my 2002 SC430 I used Dension equipment, see this link http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=74681
  8. No way, proper tyres and spare!
  9. Interesting, yours was changed in 2004 to be softer? Wonder how they achieved that. I had a S Type Jag before this SC430, and whilst that was a horrendous car for other reasons, it did handle and feel very good on the road. The Lexus seems to bump and bash around like a cart in comparison.
  10. OK 6 months in with my 2002 SC430, and I love the car, but the suspension really sucks. I know the later models has some modifications, and I wanted to know if any of these can be retrofitted to the earlier models, and what the approximate costs would be? Any one got any ideas?

    Petrol

still getting 23.4 mpg from sc430 2.2 miles from work to home and back and 1 run 8 miles down motorway and back ???????? magnets rule What are magnets (in this context), where do you get them and how do you use them?
  12. Without being patronising, you do know that you can't use the SatNav whilst moving, at least you can't on my 2002 SC430? When you stop or are going very slowly you can use the device. It's best to set the destination before you start your journey, then just leave it alone. In those old days it was considered a safetly feature!
  13. I had it done at Safe N Sound in Croydon (I totally recommend them), total cost was £270. Needed Dension retention kit (£43.47) Dension Gateway 100 (£95.64) iPOd Lead (£26.08) and they charged £57.50 to install (very good value I thought). Works brilliantly, CD still works perfectly, Dension shows up as MD in the display. You don't get much feedback on the display, but I had the iPod lead installed into the bottom part of the centre console and I control the selection from there. Then you can control up/down songs from the steering wheel as you would anything else. To be honest it's not as good as a fully integrated display, but the Lexus head doesn't seem to support that. Sound quality is as good as the CD, so no worries there. Good Luck...Paul.
  14. OMG how embarrassing, home tested and all tyres were above 30psi. Decided to forecourt test and all were at 27, raised to 34 and light went out. Time for a new compressor at home, or at least a new gauge :)
  15. I installed the Dension equipment, works pretty well.... http://www.dension.com/product/ipod-car-adapter/ipod-iphone-auxin-id3/gateway-100
  16. Hi, another TPMS problem, my 2002 SC430 had 2 sensors replaced earlier this year and everything worked beautifully for a few months, then the battery failed and to cut a long story short the car was without a battery at all for about a week. After it was replaced that the dreaded TPMS light came back on again. It stays on permanently unless I go for a long drive in which case it eventually goes off and then comes back on again a few days later. I am thinking it needs a reset, but I cannot locate the so called reset button under the steering wheel, does my car even have one? Any suggestion gratefully received! Thanks...Paul.
  17. Hi, I have a 2002 SC430 and want to install an iPod connection. There's lot of talk on here but a lot of it is several years old. It seems that either the Dension Gateway 100 (iPod only), or Gateway 300 (iPod +USB) would do. Then the addition of a CDR box would allow me to keep my CD player also. All in around £200. Does anyone have any knowledge of this setup, and how it works/displays in the SC? Also anything cheaper out there, please don't say FM modulator, I have one and it's simply not good enough for me, he said politely! Thanks...Paul.
  18. Hi all, new guy to the forum..just bought a 2002 SC 430...hope it's more reliable than my last car!
