  1. Set the temperature you want, and leave it to the car to sort it out on AUTO..it's pretty damn good at getting it right!
  2. Hi, see my response at http://www.lexusowne...showtopic=74681 re MP3 playback. I've had this kit installed for about 18 months now and it works well. You don't get all the funky displays of modern cars, but that's the SC430 head unit for you :)
  3. Alphacat, I've had one of these cheap readers for quite a time and do the same as you on a variety of cars. Clears out the noise so you really see what is happening!
  4. I'm located on the Kent/Sussex/Surrey border. Don't see many SC430s around here.....
  5. I thought it was to switch the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System between winter and summer tyres?
  6. It's a trek from the South, but I'd be interested given a bit of notice.
  7. Seats are very comfortable, I only stop for fuel. When I travel I use the back seat space if there's any chance of putting the roof down!
  8. Look great..yes TPMS seems to take a while to do, but mines been done and working for 18 months now...
  9. The ACC is for accelerate so when the cruise is engaged you can increase/decrease speed, seems to do 1 MPH for each nudge...up for increase, down for decrease. Works pretty well in mine.
  10. Couple of things, someone updated the alloys on my 2002 SC to those of the 2009 model, makes it look a lot newer (possibly very expensive though). The luggage will not fit if you have the space saver rear wheel in the boot, which incidentally I thought was provided free to all Lexus UK owners at no cost as the run flats are pretty bad on UK roads. For insurance I got mine for £280 with Admiral MultiCar (but I am old). Enjoy your motoring, I've just come back from 1,000 miles on the French auto routes, very pleasant in the SC and din't see another one anywhere!
  11. Saw your questions : -ps two early questions if I may? I can only find US owners manual online - do UK cars come with ACC (radar) cruise control as standard and should the external mirrors dip when reverse is selected? Thanks in advance for guidance/help......... UK cars have cruise and dipping mirrors in reverse, but no radar (well mine does anyway and I think it's stock)
  12. Since Luxlink opens the roof I'm guessing it would not be very effective on an IS :) Would probably do the autostart, but would be an expensive way of doing it.
  13. Mine are black and there are only two, I also don't see it listed on the standard spec sheet.
  14. I think they are after market additions, I only have a poor (very quiet) set of rear ones on my 2002 SC, so you won't find them in the standard fuse boxes. If you decide to change them, tell us what you do as I may do the same :)
  15. See this link, it has all the details, and it's still working fine. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=74681
  16. All I can say, is try one. I have a 2002 and I would say the ride is not as good as my 2000 S-Type Jag, but we also have a 2007 Rav4, and I would say it is comparable....the SC30 is a low to the ground sports coupe..and for 8k what do you expect....
  17. I get around 25MPG poodling about, and around 30MPG on a long run across France. You can easily knock it down to low 20s with a heavy right foot, but I've never seen it go any lower than that Mine is an early 2002 and I get the cheaper tax. Suspension on mine is a bit hard, but nothing as bad as I was led to believe. It's not a track car, so don't expect Porsche/Lotus levels of handling :) Only faults I've had are with the Tyre Pressure Management System (TPMS). Warning lights when the sensors fail, which are apparenlty every 5 years or so. I've replaced mine and all works perfectly now. Others have disabled this feature, but I see it as safety. Other than that, I've added a Dension iPod adapter which s great. Hope you get one, it's a great vehicle. £8k should get you a reasonable example. I've got the later wheels on mine which makes the car look a bit more 'current'.
  18. £400 is about right for Timing belt from a main dealer. On an 01/02 it needs to be done after 10 years, not sure about later models.
  19. Can't say I notice any particular buffeting. In my opinion the SC is one of the quietest convertibles. I am only 5' 8" though so maybe a taller driver would notice it more.
  20. Be interested to see if you find anyone, I live over on the Surrey/Kent/Sussex border and I use Lexus Tunbridge Wells, they are good but not cheap. They will discount for older cars though, so worth an ask.
  21. I have one :), 2002, 39,000 miles used frequently including my annual jaunt across France. You don't see very many around, but there is a blue one in the village where I live.
  22. I bought this for £65 delivered for my 2002 SC430 - LEXUS SC Petrol 300, 400, 430 - Solite 096 from http://www.thebatteryguys.co.uk/working perfectly. Don't buy the bigger one, it doesn't fit under the bonnet!
  23. I bought this for £65 delivered for my 2002 SC430 - LEXUS SC Petrol 300, 400, 430 - Solite 096 from http://www.thebatteryguys.co.uk/ working perfectly. Don't buy the bigger one, it doesn't fit under the bonnet!

    Petrol

Thanks Mark, that puts them into perspective :)
  25. Hi Mike, I find the standard brakes on my 2002 SC430 are perfect, are you sure you need to change them?
