  1. Out of interest did you check? I always use it as I thought I wasn't blinding the person behind me!
  2. Had an NX courtesy car yesterday whilst the GS was in for a bit of work and it occurred to me that I can’t for the life of me think why anyone would buy one over a GS. Especially as the list price is only £1,250 less than the GS. The NX appears to be one of Lexus’s best sellers whilst the GS is the worst (other than the LS). I was very disappointed with the equipment level compared to my GS and the overall quality didn’t seem as good either. Some of the switches and plastics appeared to be much lower in quality. The seats were a great disappointment with. Whereas the GS has 18 way adjustable seats with 3 memories for both the driver and passenger the NX only has 8 way adjustment and one memory for driver only. I also thought the overall design of the GS interior felt classier. However, that is purely subjective. The two other key areas where the GS surpasses the NX is the ride quality and handling. Both far superior in the GS and the GS has Sports + on top of the other three driving modes. I could not believe the fuel consumption of the NX either. It averaged in the high 30’s whereas mine averages high 40’s. That’s would end up much more expensive with the miles I do. I really do believe the GS is a hidden gem. I also like the fact that it’s pretty uncommon too. Or it could be I’m highly biased!
  3. Update. Lexus looked at the brakes today and said that there is nothing wrong with the discs or pads and it probably is due to the regeneration system. I pointed out that the NX courtesy car didn't have the same problem. They are going to get another GS in and let me drive it to see if it is inherent in this model!
  4. Update. Lexus replaced both rear shocks today at no cost. Had a brand new NX 300h premier as a courtesy car. Was disappointed with that in comparison to the GS!
  5. I've recently switched to a GS 300h Premier from an IS220d SE-L MM. Best thing I've done. Loved the IS but the GS is progress in all areas.
  6. I did but no bubbles. Was a nail on the sidewall. Not sure how that got there!
  7. Just had a new tyre fitted and apparently one of the shock absorbers has a slight leak. It's only done 43k. Do you think I should insist Lexus replace it under warranty or is this fair wear and tear?
  8. Have been thinking (dangerous I know!) about losing pressure overnight and reckon it may be temperature related. My logic being that if it were a nail or something the expansion due to heat would make the hole bigger and therefore more likely to lose air during the day or whilst driving. Expansion around a seal (valve or rim) would seal any gap. So maybe the valve theory is correct. Guessed I'll need to check with bubbles at about 4am!
  9. Just saw the second test which contradicts the first one! Um, not such a sill question after all. Think I may just toss a coin!
  10. Interesting read and quite counter intuitive. I would have though better tyres at the front would reduce the risk of aquaplaning!
  11. It's a weird slow puncture. Only seems to loose pressure overnight. Spent a week driving around Scotland and had to pump the tyre up every morning but it never lost any pressure whilst driving between 4 and 10 hours a day!
  12. Hi All, This may be a silly question. I need a new rear tyre as I have a slow puncture. The other rear tyre is quite worn (but still well legal) but I'd like to replace two so they are both the same. The two on the front still have plenty of tread but obviously not new. Would you put the two new ones on the back or swap the front ones to the back and put the two new ones on the front? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alan
