  1. Thanks you make it sound easy! Would you know if a workshop/service manual is available for this engine?
  2. How difficult is it to change cambelt on is300?
  3. After 23k on the budget Westlake tyres, have ordered new tyres to be fitted later today. After checking out loads of different brands, decided on Vredestein Ultac Sessanta 225/40/18 92y. They have very good reviews and the tread pattern looks awesome! Has anyone else used these? Will let you know if they are as good as they reckon.
  4. Thanks Roy, checked for any leaks but all ok and brake fluid level not dropped. Have used car since and no problem at all, i'm thinking possible internal seal fault with the master cylinder, but need it to happen again before stripping it down.
  5. Driving last night and brake pedal went down almost to the floor but when pressed again was at the top again. This was happening on and off without warning, not good! The front calipers were rebuilt a few months ago and car been fine since then, cant see it being a problem there...has anyone had this happen before or has any idea what is causing it??
  6. Re done mine recently, Big Red sell caliper rebuild kit for £35.00 ish, so worth giving it a go yourself, having said that, I have no idea how much new/refurbed calipers are.
  7. Know what you mean, guess I might change my mind after 100000 miles when they decide to wear out!
  8. How right you are, seem fine in the dry but as soon as the road gets even a little moisture on it, the car has to be driven VERY carefully. Thing is, I would buy these tyres again as they just dont appear to wear and 4 x new tyres fitted and balanced for £250 is not bad!
  9. When i bought my is300 last year the guy had just bought 4 new "budget" tyres made by Westlake (never heard of them) Thought I would wear them out before getting some "proper ones fitted. Thing is, now covered almost 20k on them and they still look like new, no uneven wear and even the tread still looks new, what the hell are they made of, plastic?? Anyone else got these tyres? (225's)
  10. Mate, best you sit down...cost of fly wheel including vat is about £1000.00.
  11. 10 years old is nothing!! The tyres on my Lotus are original GoodYear NCT1 which have been on there for 23 years! Still look like new although the rears haven't got much tread left now but unable to buy the correct size/rating tyres for the rears anymore. Dont suppose any of you guys have any 235/60/VR15 tyres hanging around??
  12. Well I just spoke to my dad and he reckons that he is bigger!
  13. You would be "shaken" to bits in a is200 John Your previous battered one maybe! I liked my old is200 sport, his name was "rattling snail"
  14. You would be "shaken" to bits in a is200 John
  15. C'mon Matt. a little bit of fun banter never hurt anyone! if you want smooth.....drink a pint of John Smiths!! (prefer a Speckled Hen myself though )
  16. It is, but the is300 is even smoother...SIMPLE!!
  17. Dinho, have you actually driven an is300 at any time in your life??
  18. How can you say the IS200 lacks smoothness! Because i've owned one!
  19. Mate yer right! Bought nice alloy set from Halfords which looked great but all seized on the valves, make sure you put them on with a tad of copper slip or silicon grease.
  20. My first Lexus was a is200 sport. I really tried hard to like it but found it lacked the smoothness and performance that I was expecting from a Lexus. Sold it and bought a 2004 is300 which drives like a completely different car. Engine is so smooth and quite and auto box like silk. yes the fuel consumption is worse around town but better on a motorway run. Car is happy to be driven with "flat cap and pipe and slippers" but is an animal when kicked, leaves reps in BM's for dust. I looked long and hard for my one because it had to have every factory option fitted including full Areo kit and wheels, and be low mileage and be in excellent condition with full history, they are out there but be very picky and be prepared to travel a few hundred miles to view, you wont regret it!
  21. Oh yes there is! somehow you got away without signing the rules declaration that allows lexus ownership..
  22. Did have is200 sport which had only done 35k and flywheel was a problem, and new one was a grand inc vat, so bought auto is300. How can Lexus justify that much for a poxy fly wheel, not worth doing! Can of petrol and a box of matches
  23. Had any problems with your fly wheel?
