  1. Mike, have you worked out which side is giving the problem?
  2. Good topic, I have the 225's on my car and run 33psi front and 31psi rear, car feels right with this pressure... dunno if it's whats recommended though.
  3. Hey Billy, the fella I got mine from (on Ebay) is a nice guy, give him a ring as he deals with these: Dave- 07506 767166 I paid £25 + postage.
  4. My garage replaced mine as I had spent so much money with them trying to sort this problem out! Dont think it's a hard job to do though, but took them a while to swap over the splash guard as the one on "new" hub unit was sightly split. Prices vary for a used hub assembly, guess it's pot luck to weather the bearing is ok though.
  5. Billy, don't go down that route mate, just buy a used unit complete from Ebay as I did. My car is fine now. If you really want a new hub, I have one that cost me £120 in my garage!!!
  6. I swear by denso iridium power ik20 5304,just fitted a set in my is300( bought it a week ago) it is a bit fiddly though, you have take the throttle body off ,there's 2 plugs under and the ik20s are good for about 25k due to the 0.4mm electrode Thought these iridium plugs were good for 60k? Whatever plugs are in my engine must be good then as iv'e done almost 50k on them and got no idea how many miles they have done before i bought it!
  7. No, as I found out, the new bearing cannot be removed from the hub without damaging it. You may be lucky that just the hub is bent (not so lucky as that cost me £120+vat and I still have it on the old assembly with the new bearing!) but to be honest, I had the same thoughts to replace the second hand bearing but it span perfectly smooth without any noise so happy days! The garage swapped to assemblies for me and didn't charge anything as I had paid them enough to cure the problem already, they done it whilst i waited and took them about 45 mins. It was something that was easy enough to do, i would have done it myself if they hadn't have offered. So i guess that any garage would charge an hours labour to do the swap. If you still get problems the cost will be minimal, 1 x new disc £43.80 from eurocarparts, second hand hub carrier assembly complete from ebay price between £25 to £60 and 1 x hours labour charge £45-£50 if you didn't fancy doing it yourself.
  8. Thats the problem, like mine, changing the brake pads, caliper seals, disc, hub and bearing did not cure the problem as the fault was with the actual arm assembly that the disc/hub/bearing were fitted to. The disc was not warping due to heat, it was due to the hub spinning out of true so the brake pads were not touching the face of the disc evenly, thus causing uneven disc wear which caused the judder when braking. Reckon the previous owner must have gone down a serious pot hole the force of which slightly bent the hub carrier arm, this would also explain why the spare wheel is twisted and cannot be straightened. Hope yours is okay now Billy, but if does it again I suggest buying one new disc from Euro Car parts and fit to near side first to see if that stops the judder (near side is normally the one that goes down pot holes) if so then buy a complete used hub carrier assembly from ebay and fit that with the new disc.
  9. Done about 3,700 miles since the hub assembly changed, and glad to say that car seems fine, so if anyone else is having the same issues as i had, do yourself a big favor and don't spend 1k on trying to find the cause..just buy a used hub assembly (hub, bearing, knuckle) from ebay, i paid £25 + delivery, and as long as that one is not damaged then problem cured!
  10. Have had major discussions with Lotus regarding cambelts! They reckon the belt on my Esprit should be changed every 3 years. The car does less than 1500 miles a year and is kept in a heated garage, and when they change the belt (after charging me £500+vat) the original belt looks brand new! They agree that the main factors to belt deterioration are extreme temps and the way the car is driven. I now leave it 4-5 years which I still think is to soon but if that engine blows i'm in for 8k rebuild.. :eerrrmm: Will have the is300 done at 100k which will be in couple of months time, but that engine has not missed a beat since I bought it at 50k and apart from oil changed every 10k have not needed to do anything! By the way, what are the best spark pugs for the is300?
  11. That sounds a bit over the top unless the car is in Alaska or the Sahara desert where the belt is prone to extreme temps!
  12. Looks like it, had car since 50k and now done 97k so will check out some prices to get it done, guess it's a belt kit with everything that needs changing included. Reckon I might get the spark plugs changed as well as iv'e never had this done, but engine is fast and smooth.. is it worth doing plugs?
  13. Am I correct in thinking that 100k is when the cam belt needs changing on is300?
  14. Well, have covered 800 miles since having the second hand hub assembly fitted and touch wood all is well, but still early days to know for sure if this has cured the problem, will feel more positive after 2k.
  15. Problem(s) will show up after 7-800 miles, well, does on mine! Got that second hand hub/knuckle assembly from ebay today, not bad for £25... getting it fitted with yet another pair of discs this Saturday..
  16. Well after having new hub/bearing/disc fitted last month, it is still not spinning within tolerance. My mechanic reckoned the problem could be with the hub carrier itself, possibly slightly bent, so have just ordered a used complete hub/knuckle assembly from fleabay. Will get mechanic to put this unit on and see if that runs straight! ...complete pain in the backside!!(and wallet)
  17. Well iv'e done around 20k on the Vreds and apart from being annoyingly noisy on some road surfaces, have been a superb tyre in both wet and dry conditions. The tyres still have loads of tread left but have recently started to follow certain road deviations for some reason, what causes this?
  18. Must admit, they do look good.
  19. Update on mine. Had new n/s hub and bearing fitted with yet another new disc as well, noticed a slight steering judder when applying brakes straight away but in a week has got worse. Braking from anything above 55mph the steering shakes like mad. Neither of the front (or back) wheels are getting hot. Took it back to garage this morning and car was put on the rollers where the brakes/calipers were checked, the LED lights on the screen were not stable when the front wheels were in the rollers, apparently the two bands of LED lights, one for each wheel should stay lit the same amount and be constant. First of all the LED's for the n/s wheel were not stable, moving slightly left and right on the screen but the o/s led's were showing stable, but after a couple of minutes the o/s LED's started to fluctuate as well. Mechanic has offered to take the car for a week to see if he can find the problem as he is as baffled as me! (The calipers have been rebuilt by the way) Would you think that those lower bushes could be the problem?? New n/s hub, pads, disc, brake hose, caliper rebuilt, o/s pads, disc, caliper rebuilt ...so far!!
  20. One (or both) of the front discs are giving you this problem, assuming that they have not been changed recently, then you will need to change the pair. (£40.00 each from Euro car parts- Pagid discs) Worth checking the brake calipers are not sticking as if you fit new discs and one of the calipers is sticking then the disc will warp again!
  21. Safe bet it's a shock giving the knocking sound over bumps, not a cheap fix though.
  22. Used hubs are a big gamble as the bearings have to be changed at the same time, and the warped disc...the only way to eliminate the hub is to fit a new one. The run out tolerance on a hub is 0.5.
  23. Sure does mate, like with all my cars, they have to be perfect..if not then whats the point? Will not let this problem ruin what should be a perfect car.
  24. 1st one was a BluePrint bearing, but because there was this bearing/grinding noise after fitted, i insisted the garage change it for a genuine Lexus one but the noise was still there! so i've been trying to find out the cause of that and the warping disc , so the hub seems a safe bet as it's the only thing that touches the bearing and would cause the disc to run untrue..
  25. Just sorted this out with my mechanic, decided to get a genuine Lexus hub as it doesn't cost much more at £102+vat and will go for a BluePrint bearing which is about £60+vat. (this will be the 3rd bearing on that side this year) I will have to get another disc as well, hopefully for the last time!! I know that this is a bit of a gamble, but the car is worth it.. or so i keep on telling myself..
