  1. That looks really good and they have also changed to the later shifter and more safety kit too which really brings it up to date. It seems odd to be doing this so soon after the last update, maybe the Gen 2 is further away than I thought.....? I really dislike the Bi-Tone+ paint though, especially the way you have two different colours on the same panel. Fair enough just on the roof, but they do the same on the new C-HR and you can really feel the edge of the paint which I think is very odd.

  3. That' exactly what I use it for on my Prius when I want to get the car out of the garage to wash it, but do not want the engine to fire up. I have never had a time when it wouldn't go into EV mode in that circumstance. I usually have 3 bars or more at the end of my previous journey which enables this to happen. It bugs me when testers always say about the EV button can be used when going at slow speed, but only for a vey short distance and pretty much mock its ability ...... it's a Hybrid not an EV and the car will put itself into EV at low speeds automatically, usually more often than if you try and use the EV button 😤
  4. If size is not important then I am sure you will like the car. It does feel very much like a Lexus, the doors shut with a nice thud and it has the e-latch handles like the new NX so it feels very up to date, especially with the new digital dashboard. It certainly feels much more than a Yaris Cross in a posh frock which I was pleased about. As I said above, I will be interested to see one in full production trim and build to see how it compares.
  5. Yes, that’s what the dealer said.. The 250h is on run out and the car will now be called 300h when the order books open in January 2024, but he had no more information than that, so what is happening is anyone’s guess…
  6. I think as per my original post, there must be some kind of engine revision to warrant the change from 250h to 300h. The 5th generation hybrid setup as per the Corolla makes the most sense to me, but I thought anything like that would be saved for the 2nd generation, especially as they have only recently made revisions to spec?. Guess we will have to wait and see….
  7. Yes I posted about it here. You can place a new order from January 2024 I understand for the revised 300h, but he didn't know anymore than that. 250h is now on run out.
  8. Yes I have seen it in the flesh as per my video in the above quoted post. Not sure how tall you, but coming from an NX you are going to notice a big difference in interior space, I would say mainly in the rear, but the front is quite snug. That is what put me off the LBX as I currently have a Prius which is a very spacious car with a big boot. The boot on the LBX is I understand is roughly the same as the UX in volume, but it does appear to be more useable as it is much deeper than the UX. Sitting in a UX after the LBX it feels like a much bigger car which isn't something you would normally say about a UX. Don't get me wrong though, it is a lovely car, but not if space is your priority, but then it is a small car. The dashboard was lovely, but it did seem odd to have the entertainment screen low down instead of up high like all other Lexus models and indeed the Yaris Cross upon which it is based. Also it was a pre-production model, so some of the trim wasn't exactly well put together, but I am sure that will be sorted in the production model. I will be interested to see it in proper production form to see how I feel about it again, but I know it is too small for my needs, even though I rarely carry anyone in the back, I want there to be enough space to be able to carry them comfortably.
  9. I test drove an NX recently with 18 inch wheels which I thought would give a nice cushy ride, but found it to be really quite firm. I took the car home to try it in the garage and whilst I was there I checked the tyre pressures and they were grossly over inflated. I put them to the correct pressures and it was like night and day. I always manually check my tyre pressures after a service as they always inflate them to max load capacity. Not sure why they do this, it would make more sense to inflate them to a middle ground if they do not want to have them at the lowest setting. I know some people like to over inflate their tyres for better economy, but I would rather have a nice ride.

  12. I always leave mine on Auto 21-22 and that works well for me. Sometimes in the summer I will have the drivers window down and then I turn the AC off as its pointless having it on and I can't say I have really noticed any MPG hit (Gen 4 Prius) whether I use the AC or not. Not sure if the UX is the same, but on mine each press of the Auto button cycles between 'Eco', 'Fast' and normal and is shown in small text in the display, but but nothing shows in the display when in the normal mode. I also have a separate button marked AC which can switch off the compressor.
  13. It was the Premium Plus I was looking at. The garage who said about the 300h change said they had a choice of Premium Plus models coming in which I could have had as new rather than Pre-reg, but I am going to wait and see what happens in January. I'm in no rush and if it’s just an engine revision/refresh or whatever (he didn’t have any details), then I will wait for 2nd generation whenever that may be. I’ve been dithering for so long now another 2 years or so won’t hurt then I will go for the Takumi 😆
  14. That’s interesting, I never knew that was the reason. I thought it was odd that it was called 250h when it had a 2.0 litre. That explains why the ES with its 2.5 litre is called 300h.

I would say the change from 250 to 300 possibly points to the increased HP (194 vs 181) that the latest 2.0 hybrid in the Corolla has, so it distinguishes between the current 2.0 in the UX to the new one.... this is all supposition, I will wait and see what happens in January when he said the order books open up for the revised model.
  16. He did not mean the 250h would be dropped leaving just the 300e, he is saying the 250h Hybrid model is being replaced by the 300h Hybrid model. I take that to mean that it will be getting the 5th generation hybrid set up as in the latest Corolla and now new C-HR, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

I have been dithering on what car to replace my Prius with for months now and have been looking at the UX, C-HR, LBX and of course now the Gen 5 Prius is coming to the UK, that has been put into the mix too. My first choice has really always been the UX as I fancy moving up to the Lexus brand and it just suits me even though it will be less practical than my Prius. The main thing that has held me back is that the UX would be 5 years into its lifespan by the time I took delivery in March 2024 which worried me as I know it will probably only be another 2-3 years before a second generation would be appearing. However, I have noticed lately that there have been a lot of Pre-regs cars coming up on AutoTrader at very attractive prices. They have been a little bit cheaper than cars coming through Car Wow, but they attracted me as I could have one now and not have to wait approx 3 months which would ease my worries a little over the next generation. The only thing that was putting me off was (a) I would be the second owner and (b) why are the Pre-reg cars coming up as I have not seen this happen before?. I contacted one of the dealers that came up on Car Wow for a new order and asked when would be the last date I would need to place my order to ensure March 1st delivery. He came back to me today and said "The UX250h range is on run out / being superseded, by the UX 300h, no prices as yet , order system opening January 2024." I know Lexus registered 300h in October 2022, but I am surprised I have not seen any more about this. I am not sure if this will be a second generation, probably just a revision to the engine/drivetrain, but this is one time where my indecisiveness has paid off. Watch this space I guess....
  18. I know on the pre-facelift model there is an option to enable/disable it in the settings menu as I found this when I took a Takumi out for a test drive a while back and couldn't get it to work. Like others have said, I too have heard that it was removed in later model, not sure why as it's a great feature if you have your hands full.

  20. Totally understand that to have a dedicated 'memory' function if not fitted is a no no. My understanding then is if we were to each use our own key (A & B), make our adjustments to seats/mirror/steering wheel they would be saved to the car. Would that mean that if I use key A I would get one set of adjustment and using key B would give me a different adjustment? I know the Takumi with the dedicated memory settings also has the easy access for the steering wheel seat, but I am not sure if that is a thing on the premium plus... probably not? Apologies if I am asking the same thing again, my brain just has to understand things in a certain way 🫣 Thanks
  21. Ahh that’s very interesting. I remember many years ago I had an A4 cabriolet and that remembered settings including AC settings too. It is the revised model I am referring too, I should have mentioned that in my first post, thank you.
  22. Ahh I didn’t realise yours was electric. Looks like they adjusted the spec for that model. I test drove a used Takumi in the week, but it was in very poor cosmetic condition even though it was two years younger than my car. I was pretty shocked that it was on a main dealership forecourt to be honest. I am thinking of a new car with the Premium Plus pack as I don’t want to spend the extra for the Takumi when there is likely a second gen in 2-3 years time, but I will really miss my HUD.
  23. Why doesn’t your Takumi have memory seats as that is part of the standard equipment? Was it delivered during the chip shortage and they were omitted?
  24. When you order a UX with the Premium Plus package you get electric seats and steering wheel adjustment, but no memory settings as in the Takumi. I was wondering, are the seat/steering wheel settings stored in the key or in the cars settings. My thought was if they are logged against the key, would that mean that potentially each key would remember settings for that that key and therefore driver, thereby giving you two stored settings? Thanks
  25. Who said it was better? I have sat in the LBX and it is much smaller inside than a UX. I sat in a UX afterwards and it seemed very spacious compared, not something you would normally say about a UX. I would say the boot looked bigger in the LBX (322 litres), but I am not sure what the UX size is, but it is much shallower. I found it very snug and quite narrow with terrible rear leg room, but it is a smaller car so is to be expected. Lovely dash board though.
