  1. Thanks Guys - yes, mine has an LSD, so maybe that is the issue.... 👍
  2. Hi Guys I have noticed when pulling off from stand still in my ISF when turning at the same time (e.g. out of the junction) there is a noise coming from the rear of the car. It is hard to describe, but I would describe it is a faint spinning sound, only when starting off from stationary, and only for the first part of acceleration, then it goes away, and only seems to happen in this scenario. The noise is not very loud or high pitch, almost a low level medium pitch sound, you have to listen to notice it - sorry that is a bit vague, but is the best way I can think to describe it. I have been wondering if it is from the transmission or diff. Does anyone else have this, or have any ideas about the possible cause? Thanks
  3. Interesting info on the options available. As you say, it seems most cars were just ordered by dealers rather than actual customers. So it was mostly hit and miss as to what was available and in what spec…
  4. Hi Charliecloud - your ISF looks lovely, and with a sunroof too! 🙂 and a nice low mileage.... It is curious from my side as I have a 2012 car with the revised instrument cluster and sport button on the steering wheel etc. that your car has the later option wheels and has a sunroof. Mine just has the standard wheels and no sunroof. In as much as my car is the last year of sales in the UK and yet does not have the wheels and sunroof offered to a car a year or so before mine was imported. No biggie, but always interesting to see the options and what the kit is on other ISFs as you never really see any others on the road LOL! Lovely car, the new owner will be very happy
  5. You could buy a shed estate car (unless you have one already) for the dogs, domestic stuff and canoes etc. and keep the ISF for other driving. I don't think try to use the ISF for these things will work, or feel great to do. Tough choice, but they do come along like this sometimes...
  6. I had mine done at my dealer last week, around £570, which I thought was something of a bargain. I am not a fan of preventative mechanics unless a proven issue, but as enough folks have mentioned this it seemed worthwhile. In hindsight I would have liked to have kept the old radiator as a spare, but forgot. I wonder as the ISF is now nearly ten years out of production if we are beginning to benefit from reduced spares prices from Lexus?
  7. Also worth saying the the water pump and radiator and not essentials to have pre-emptively done. Service history would be useful though on a car of this mileage - does it have any?
  8. As previously posted by me also, unless anyone on here has actually seen this car in the metal, and driven/looked it over, I think there is a good chance this may be okay. I have seen some ISF's with truly awful mods, this one seems to have had either minor ones done, or good ones. Suggest if the potential buyer is serious, he (or she) at least invests half a day driving over and giving this a look at. It is a sellers' market at the moment, that may not last, but it is the situation for the time being, so things like this as worth looking at IMO.
  9. There is some funny action around the base of the steering wheel as well - looks like the blue patch from later LSD cars has been rattle can sprayed on or something? Still, the gear shifter and steering wheel are minor cosmetic things that can be sorted easily. The car overall looks clean and well cared for, and, depending on your preferences, has some tidy performance upgrades thrown in....
  10. Hi Donolly19 Well I'm sure you know what you are doing, most private owners will accept 1-5k off list with some haggling, but also everyone knows the prices now, and even P/X is quite keen with Lexus dealers. Good luck finding your car.
  11. You say you will ‘stretch’ for the right one, but don’t seem to like the prices or choice available for such a niche car?? So what are you looking for, a 2012 car with one owner, 30k miles for £15k? Ain’t gonna happen…. You may need to realign your expectations, or look for another car to by. Just sayin…
  12. Hi Guys Does anyone know if the Ghost immobiliser can be fitted to the Lexus ISF? Thanks
  13. Great post Mo, and pleased for you that you sold the car. The rest of us with Soldier on LOL! Best of luck
  14. I think the engine on the ISF is fine with the E10, it can certainly take and being NA is less stressed than a turbo etc.
  15. Yes, this whole thing is getting a bit tiresome now, I just hope it doesn't drag on for a few months...
  16. Where I live in SW London, there is no VPower left anywhere (and very little other fuel, if any, available), so reluctantly I topped-up the ISF up yesterday with E10 (which by the way I was lucky to get anyway). I checked on the HMG website and apparently all Lexus cars after 1998 can take this fuel. Not happy to use this lower octane fuel, but if it is only for a couple of weeks I think will not do the ISD any harm. How are other people coping?
  17. I've owned two ISF's over 9 years and every service my local dealer overfills the engine oil when changing it, I had them drain some out the first time but left it after that, no harm done, it seems that is just how they do it...
  18. Well mine was expensive, but you pays your money and takes your choice for what is a one-off job on the car. There is a national Waxoyl franchise company I was looking at that would do the job in one done in a day for cheaper, but I really had misgivings about them as it would clearly be just spraying the gunk over the rust that may have been there, so decided to go for a Dinitrol place instead that was more expensive, but a thorough job was done for peace of mind, and, ultimately, a good job to last the lifetime of the car.
  19. Cheers Guys - appreciate the feedback. My own view is that it should be fine.
  20. Quick question Guys - I have recently had fitted standard pads to the rear brakes and need to replace the front ones also. Does anyone have a view about mixing non-standard front pads with standard back ones (e.g. Porterfield front pads)? Thanks
  21. Had mine done this week, the car was in fact very clean and mostly rust free underneath, but all the trays were taken off, cavities filled and everything undersealed with Dinitrol, very happy to have this done before the winter and for longer-term peace of mind.
  22. Interesting, well please let us know how it goes, I’m sure you’ll be pleased with the difference 👍🏻
  23. Curious on what basis they recommended a non-X pipe, did you ask for the quietest option?
  24. Yes, I got the cat back, didn’t want to mess with regs etc getting a cat delete, I’m sure it’s fine, but happy with what I got 👍🏻
