  1. I have to use an adopter which addes to the amount of gas which must be released , but it will always blow away from the handle. Just a thought, by any chance before you released the nozzle did the locking handle release too slowly
  2. This is normal, it's the gas between the nozzle and the filler of the tank. Don't forget the gas is in liquid form. You will find that not all gas pumps cut out at the correct pressure. I had one garage get 70 l of gas in a 70 l tank that was not empty, you should have seen the blast of liquid when he released the trigger.
  3. I have Lexus 17" from a ls430. Probably need a refur, but shipping from Ireland might be expensive.
  4. you need to make sure the a and b pillars are not pushed out of line. As far as l am aware everything is plug and play though for all the window openings with the key you may have to change over the door lock.
  5. the auto box will not be suitable for racing. Engine should be good depending on the kind of races he enter.
  6. There are different numbers for left or right side though both are interchangeable. Reuse all the nuts from the air shocks. This list is for rear suspension only. 1 no 48530 RH shock 1 no 48540 LH shock 1 no 48231A RH spring 1 no 48231B LH spring 2 no 48258 ring (fit between spring and shroud) 1 no 48341A RH bumper stop 1 no 48341B LH bumper stop 2 no 48755 top mounts 2 no 48755A top mount inserts 1 no 48257C RH shroud 1 no 48259A LH shroud
  7. My car is the face lift model but the suspension mounting points are all the same. Shocks and coils are a direct fit. I 'm sure a Lexus dealer would not do what I did but the car is fine and went through a car test with this set up.
  8. Works for me. Car handles fine. The air compressor will not switch in since the air shocks failed, so I pumped the front shocks manually.
  9. Update. Shocks were sent back to Bilstein for repairs. When they were returned to me I found they had not been repaired correctly. Their solution was to drill out the top mount. As far as I was concerned that was the final straw with Bilstein. I returned all shocks to the supplier for a full refund. I refitted the front air shocks and bought 2 rear coilovers c/w top mounts etc from my Lexus dealer for about €1100.00. I have put a few thousand miles on the car and it handles fine. So when the front shocks give up (and they will) I will replace them with Lexus coilovers (or maybe just scrap the car at that stage). I hope this is of some help to others with the same problem.
  10. Finally got around to removing shocks. both rear and one front were leaking oil. I will update when they reply.
  11. I am looking for the terminals to short out to pump up the front air shocks , I can run the pump but I need to operate the solonoids. I have searched the forum but cannot find anything. Thank you
  12. Do a s Do a check in the forum and you will see how much trouble and poor quailty the LS430 suspension is.
  13. Finally went with Bilstein B14 coilovers. I had to buy 2 rear top mounts separately as only the front shocks come with the mounts. Cost in total was €1750.00 I fitted the coilovers my self so no labour cost. Time about 10-12 hrs. The car handled very good, ride is not as good as the air suspension which is what I expected . Everything was fine for a couple of months but I noticed handling on the front was going off. I had the front shocks tested , n/s is way out of balance with the o/s. Contacted supplier who contacted Germany . They want the shocks back to test, they refused to send replacement parts even through I offered to pay for them and then receive a refund . They said there were none in stock . If I had to do it again I would buy shocks with adjustable dampers. I hope to remove shocks next week and send them back so l will update then.
  14. Hi Jake, thanks for reply, can you give more information. WilliamHi William, best to keep it simple , any good garage can plug into the car and check the fault codes. If there are a few codes coming up they will need to back track through them to get the code causing the problem . I find the lads in the lexus garage in Galway a great help. Sorry William just remembered my warning light was the vsc. The heads not what it used to be.
  15. He will need a scaner to check faults. On my car it was 2 of the oxygen sensors.
  16. And many non-uk 400s I was told. So all LSs (if so fitted) have the same flawed air suspension? I'd rather drive a V-6 Citroën C5 estate than a Lexus LS, if it was built the Japanese way. Its not that the ls has flawed suspension as such imo the price lexus charge for replacement parts is the real problem
  17. It's no different to any other luxury car with air suspension. Complete collapse is not likely to happen just like that, they'll be warnings first in most cases. On the other hand, it may never happen. The other problem is that it's not the kind of system where most garages would have the knowledge to do a quick check. Forget about problems that may never happen, I've had two LS400's but I can honestly say the 430 is by far the best. Having said that, my Lexus days are near an end and being replaced by a Volvo V70....I'd better not say any more or I'll get my post instantly removed again, especially if I mention the "S+++++g" word! Complete collapse without warning can happen.
  18. yes it is, only problem is you have to get it from Lexus. The European type bolts from front to back of the boot, where as the American type only bolts to the back
  19. I would hate too think what might happen. The passenger side went down instantly, drivers side a few miles later. I have ordered Bilstein coilovers, should have them next week.
  20. A rear air shock blew while I was moving off from park, lucky or what. Night before I was at motorway speed for over an hour. I have had enough, am replacing with coilovers.
  21. I found the Toyota pads to be the best for ware and price.
  22. When I bought mine only Lexus made them to suit the LS, used them on my mk 3& 4. Still have them somewhere.
