  1. hi, thanks for this, it was used just in London so I am very wary!
  2. Hi all, I've owned a RX400h previously and am now thinking about buying another. It's an 08 with just 23000 miles. Should it have been serviced every year despite the very low mileage? If the previous owner hasn't had this done how wary should I be? Any advice greatly appreciated! I haven't seen the service book yet.
  3. Hi all I've just noticed that the paint on my 2007 rx400h is flaking off around the rear light cluster set into the bumper. It's not where the indicators/main brake lights are, it's further down. I think the "lights" are actually reflectors, anyway has anyone else had this problem? If so was it covered by the Lexus bodywork warranty? My car has a full main dealer service history. I've only seen it today so couldn't speak to the dealer. Just wanted any info from here. Thanks
  4. Welcome, it's worth checking to make sure that your Lexus has had the remedial work done on a recall about 4/5 months ago. A phone call to Lexus or a dealer should give you the answer. Since I had the recall work done my onboard computer is showing around 26.2 A few members on here have experienced the same, my car is in for it's service the end of this month so I shall ask them to check this out. It was averaging about 30 so I hope to get this back. One other thing, have a very close look at the alloys, they are very prone to blistering, if they have this negotiate on the price or at least get your seller to refurbish them! Good luck
  5. Is there anything more annoying than running out of washer fluid? Make it a weekly chore…it's 2 minutes tops You might find the warning light annoying but at this time of year with rain and then plunging temperatures it's downright dangerous not to keep your bottle full. I'm not sure why you would want to disable something that asists you?
  6. Greetings all, I'm just wondering how many K's people are getting on average out of their tyres before changing? Mine have done about 16K, still seems plenty of tread but the grip certainly isn't what it used to be. They are Toyo Open Country All Terrain. Cheers
  7. Just ordered one from Lexus Bristol, about £57 inc Vat. Next stop the car wash!!!
  8. Hi all Just had my car hand washed and the guys broke off my cover! They have said they will pay for a new one, just as a guide has anyone bought one recently from a Lexus dealer? If so how much? I'm hoping I won't have any hassle getting the car wash to pay…... Accidents happen I know but it's still a major pain.
  9. Lexus operate a cheaper service scheme for older models, if it was me I'd get it serviced at a Lexus main dealer particularly if the car has always been serviced at a main dealer, helps when you come to sell it!
  10. Certainly no expert but usually when this sort of thing happens it tends to be the seals gone and in your case the ones around the sunroof. Best to get it checked, you could try a local sunroof company but you'll probably end up at the Lexus dealership because if it is the seals perished I bet you can only replace them via Lexus! Best to get it sorted though
  11. Agree with everyone, if not factory fitted these things tend to look like an afterthought. I have to be honest I'd put a small sticker somewhere to remnd me to switch on my sidelights if this was a legal requirement rather than what you've done. No offence meant but when you ask for opinions on this site thats exactly what you get! Happy Christmas
  12. Be confident, don't be afraid to haggle and don't pay more than you want to. Be prepared to walk out if you're not happy, believe you me if the salesman can do the deal they ain't going to want to let you go! Yes, the real profit is in second hand cars but if you had a non-Lexus trade-in all the dealership will do is ship it on so cash can be "king". Good luck
  13. Its a fact that acidic products CAUSE corrosion and bubbling in alloy wheels. Hence, why the products always say "do not apply to wheels with scratches". I had mine for 8 years. No corrosion whatsoever. Oh right ok then, so you think your car would be perfectly fine if it had bird poo on the paint for 3 months do you? Ok, I think we've exhausted the "do they corrode/don't they corrode" scenario some of us think the wheels aren't up to it and some do so I think we should draw a line under it now
  14. Acidic products wouldn't be on sale if they caused the corrosion seen, they simply couldn't afford the damages claims! Maybe newer models have better alloy finishes but even if you didn't wash your car for a long time that's no reason for corrosion on alloys, they're simply not up to the uk climate.
  15. Sorry Rayaans, think we will have to disagree on the Alloy problem. It's not just a Lexus thing, most Japanese alloy wheels do not have the type of finish suitable for the British climate. Yes, of course in an ideal world you would clean your wheels frequently but that's not always possible, non-Japanese cars can put up with this but I'm afraid most Japanese cars will suffer. Maybe you've been luckier than most or your maintenance schedule is better than most.
  16. In my opinion if you have up to £10K in your budget then use it! Get the best you can afford, by the way wheel corrosion is a Lexus problem so factor in some money off the price if they are really bad. Again, just my opinion but a FLSH would be a pre-requisite for me too. Good luck.
  17. Obviously the 300 is a petrol engine whereas the 400h is a hybrid. Best look at Autotrader for both models to see what's on offer
  18. Good call, I think you really need to consider purely looking at "official" used Lexus from Lexus dealers, yes you pay more butthere is peace of mind.
  19. Funnily enough mine is now showing around 27.5, down from 30ish, I'm going to reset it and see what happens. Obviously now it's colder the mpg does go down but will be interesting to see what happens!
  20. Now that we are starting to get some crap weather I am reluctant to expose my genuine Lexus floor mats to muddy/wet feet! Looking to swap to rubber ones for a few months, doesn't make sense to spend the earth though so anyone have any recommendations? Cheers
  21. All done in a day, free loan car and mine washed...result! :hocus-pokus:
