  1. I use Lexus Bristol, I would recommend them, its the wrong side for me too but I put up with that. One other thing to look for is the state of the alloy wheels, they bubble/corrode pretty badly and Lexus don't want to know if they are out of warranty. If the ones on your prospective car are bad demand that they be refurbished at the very least!
  2. I have actually received a letter from Lexus today although as I said Lexus Bristol have already booked me in. Good luck.
  3. Lexus Bristol have booked my car in for this Friday. Just need it for a full day.
  4. Up to last week Lexus Bristol said they were still waiting for details! It's funny how some dealerships appear to know what to do and are doing it/ have done it whilst others know nothing?
  5. The reason for me is that my wife and I have extremely busy lives. For me this was a run around purchase. enough time went into sorting it. That's why we have to cover all the possibilities. when, were & how quick they can do this. That's all it is for me. I need minimum disruptions. you are right its not a big thing for many, but for some of us trying even to get a spare hour is impossible these days. I sympathise but sometimes time has to be made, 4 hours is not a lot to ask and as it appears it's not an urgent recall everyone, even the really busy ones should be able to plan ahead.
  6. It's a recall guys, it's not world-changing, it shouldn't cost you anything, you schedule it as you would a service and just carry on. I really can't believe how much woe is being poored out on this thread. I'm sure I'll get shouted down but am I the only one getting fed up of this now? You'll get a letter, book a convenient 4 hour slot and it's done.
  7. Sorry but recalls happen, they can't be planned and they sometimes are inconvenient but so are lots of things in life. "Keep calm and carry on"......?
  8. They are doing the responsible thing and covering their bums too! They let you take it, something happens regarding what the recall is all about and that leaves them in the poo. Sorry but I agree with their plan and so accept this plan of action.
  9. Lexus Bristol have said the recall letters aren't going out until end of september so the actual work/parts aren't going to happen until October at the latest. Seems like there's a bit of panic about. Basically they know about as much as we do so I think it's a question of wait and see. It will get done.
  10. Sorr to hear of your woes, I'm afarid everything has conspired to make it a pain but when you really want something even a small delay seems like ages, it will be worth the wait and it's definitely worth getting the recall done before you take the vehicle, I'm about to sort mine out now. Hope all goes well
  11. A difficult decision, I'm not sure you will get the two grand back if you go for the newer one when you come to sell it. Also personally I think any colour leather apart from black is more desirable. Got to stress though its abpersonal choice. My advice? Stick with what you've got? Let us know what you decide to do?
  12. All I can say is that you get what you pay for, there's not much point in buying something that isn't actually goingto be able to show number plates etc! I've done a lot of research and I think you would be wasting your money on a really cheap camera. Just my opinion but each to their own! Cheers
  13. Bought one from euro parts, stick in your reg and hey presto. It's best just to get one and forget any Lexus battery.
  14. Just spoke to Lexus Bristol, they are aware of he recall but they said that if my car needs to go in I will get notification from Lexus UK.
  15. The recommended placement is behind the rear view mirror, not in the line of sight of the driver. Pretty sure it is legal
  16. Thanks to all again, I'm definitely for any sort of back up so I will feela lot happier once it's up and running! Below is a very interesting bit on the model I've gone for, the chap's a bit OTT but it really helps you!
  17. Well, just bought a Blackvue DR500GW, hope it's as easy to use as everyone says!
  18. Thanks David RX450 Did you wire it in yourself? I plan to change my car in the next year so can you un-wire it to take to the new vehicle? If not then I would put up with the wires I think, I'm sure they can be tidied up anyway. Cheers
  19. Thanks, I'm the least mechanical person you could ever imagine so when things are said to be "hard wired" I take it that this means that the camera is permanently wired into the car electrics? What I am looking for is one that I can attach to the windscreen, plug it in the lighter socket and off I go! I am looking at is the New BlackVue DR500GW HD (With GPS and Wi-Fi). It says it has a 12/24 volt cable, I'm hoping this means I can plug and go? Cheers
  20. Evening all. I'm afraid in this day and age I'm now of a view that I need to get an in-car camera to protect me from scurrilous insurance claims. Has anyone got one of these yet and more importantly how easy was it to install? I really need something that you clip to the windscreen, plug in to the cigareet lighter and off you go! Happy to spend up to £250, I've looked at a couple but any users opinions much appreciated! Thanks
  21. Thanks to everyone, pretty much as I expected. Personally I would never buy a vehicle like the 400/450 privately, in fact I wouldn't even consider an independent, it would have to be a main dealer for me. However I may try and sell it privately and see what happens!
  22. The optimum result is to get the most I can for my car. My next purchase will probably be a RX450. However if I can sell privately I have more cash to spend at the dealer! The $64000 question is do RX400 potential buyers buy privately on the whole or go to a dealer? I know my choices but is selling privately a realistic proposition?
  23. Thinking about changing my RX, do I try to sell it privately or p/x? Of course if I di sell privately I should get more but do people buy their RX's privately because personally for me it would always be a main dealer purchase! Any thoughts appreciated
  24. Unfortunately Japanese cars are renouned for crap alloys! Lexus are no different. Lexus UK don't want to know if you are out of warranty yet Mazda UK replaced all mine without a quibble when the vehicle was 4 years old. You have 2 choices... replacement of refurbished. By far the cheapest option is the latter at about £65 a wheel. Make sure you get a decent warranty though. IMHO if you let the wheels go when you come to sell the next buyer is going to want a substantial discount, better to hed off the problem now.
  25. Can't help as to where the fuse is but I have no problem powering up my iPhone 5 or mini iPad.
