John I also agree with you on the steering i double checked mine and mine too is a bit heavy feeling and also does sometimes pull to left on camber roads but i am completely happy with it on the motorway its as straight as a die. If you read the old report /review of the GS that is one of the points it brings up not being able to throw it round corners like the BMW. I am sure that once you get yr new tyres run in it will be perfect. I drove my Sons OMEGA and his steering was a lot lighter than mine but a bit more wooly at least the LExus as a solid feel to it and i am quite happy with my steering The point to make is make sure yu use a tyre specialist for alignment as Lexus dealers dont have those 4 wheel alignment machines Enjoy the car they are fabulous Robert

Hi John Thats very true but some of those machines have green zones and red zone the point to make is exactly what you have found out 1 side could be in green at lower end and other at top end of green the operator may just say " all in green its ok " but may not be true the m/c may only be as good as the operator Just go back and say its a lot better but still pulling to the left and they will compensate for that if he is a good operator trust me they will want you happy you will get there I cant comment on the other points but due to the silence of these cars you can sometimes hear the various sensors and relays clicking Robert

I would think that this is an alignment problem as you say one front tyre on one side was worn that would account for it When i bought my car it had Falkens on (Ditch Finders) and rear Left was more worn than Rear Right So i went to my Friends Lads TYre fitting Garage who did a 4 Wheel alignment and he found the rear Right was toeing in a lot more than the Left which will throw the car to the kerb wearing out front Left as you compensate for pull i also had TOYO Proxes fitted at 125 a corner and they are absolutely silent and wearing well I would book the car in for 4 wheel alignment and get it done its 50 up here but most tyre specialist do it it will transform the car Hope that helps Robert

Hi I have a 55 plate gs300 the other day i was coming up to a junction when a Car transporter youve guessed it a "Walon dummy" turned straight onto road i braked hard i knew ive got that Emergency Brake System and was suprised how quick it pulled up a car behind also braked hard as i heard his tyres scream. The point im making i heard bump at back from axle as I was moving off just a second or two after pressing accelerator as though the rear brakes had been stuck on. Now i had new brakes pads and discs fitted in septeber last at lexus i asked if the calippers was ok they said yes no problem, Is this a normal action as everything works fine braking wise TIA Robert

Hi David I contacted SGS who asked to find out where it was catching the hinge and a photo if possible ,I did this and they sent me some new fittings that screwed on Exactly Like the origionals And is now working Perfect. I dont know if they will last a long time but they have 2 yr Warrantty and cost 36 each as opposed to 103 from Lexus Robert

Hi David The Struts arrived from SGS but am sorry to say that they were not quite correct the part that fits on to the ball on the left side looking into boot fouled the hinge only slightly but fouled it just the same , it eventualy came off. the end looks larger than the OEM however on the right side it fitted perfectly as the hinge is slightly different why i Know not but is different So i put the origional back on the left side and new one on right I think maybe if i ground a bit of the fitting it will go but im unsure which way to jump anyway thought ide let you know may help someone else Robert

Hi Ive just found out that my Boot struts look like they are failing as its getting harder to open the boot but easier to close it i checked with lexus and they said 102 per strut i coughed surely not , not a strut but said yes thats correct Does any one know of a supplier that does these i have heard of SGS but they only do 1998 to 2005 Thanks in Anticipation

just as an aside to this it could just be that the air outside sensor is fubared and is not recording actual temp (but i doubt it )as if it is over 22 C it will make the recirc come on and cooll down interior when it drops below this the recirc reverts to fresh But here is the rub if the recirc flap lever is broke which many are due to pollen filter not replaced correctly then even tho the recirc light comes on it does not mean its in recirc mode the servo motor moves over to change mode but if its broke will not open so it stops there as it cant cool down interior see the post on this i explained it in detail yu will be suprised how many Is.s and GS,s are running round with this lever broke

just as an aside to this went out today and suddenly realised there was no rattle from pass side i did have a rattle here and couldnt figure out were it was coming from thought it was door then thought it was seat wife thought it was coming from sill, But as now gone this was after siliconing the seat belt it must av been something at back of pillar but as now completely gone good result
-
i have just after reading this thread bought a can of crc silicone spray as my pass side belt was a bit lazy and as been caught in the door and put a scratch on the inside sill it took a couple of mins to apply and the result was instantaneous operates just like a new belt so did them all also the drivers front window on opening made a slight grab sound as it came down just as it cleared top i applied to runners and top rubber seal and voilla no grab i can certainly reccomend silicon thanks OP

I too looked at gs300 like busta with the TPMS light on the dealer said would be an easy fix so would knock 100 of for it but i said no and walked away. The dealer rang me back said if he gets it done would you consider buying so i said yes. He took it to Lexus at Stoke who replaced itcost 156 i had copy of invoice. 6 months later i had to change tyres my local tyre place said could change them no problem I was concerned at the thought of damage to the TPS so i was stood there all the time and he looked like he knew what he was doing the tyres were fitted all 4 for 125 corner 600 in total. Went out the next day Light came on told them but said must be coincidence as we did not damage it I didnt get anywhere with them so took it to sheffield who said rear offside damaged they fitted one 110 total But went onto say The procedure is to let air out of tyre Undo nut and push sensor into wheel Take of tyre or realese it so can get hand in to retrieve valve replace valve and reinflate tyre then initialise it to system He then said we could have done same tyres for same as i paid and garanteed no sensor damage wish ide took them up on it Robert
-
If you get the TPMS valve from Lexus its 110 fitted that includes Initialising it to the System The ones from USA are different dont waste your Money Also if yu take it to Lexus and they break it they will replace it There is a Procedure for taking the tyre off my Local Tyre Firm broke two but said they hadnt damaged them and would not accept responability It would have been court case so i took it on chin I wish ide have let lexus do all the tyres was not much dearer than Tyre Depot Lesson learnt Good Luck Thats at Sheffield anyway

I had all four of ,mine exchanged at Lexus Sheffield fpr 300 They look brill and Powder coated Im sure other Dealerships are same

A further point is a simple check on the recirc/fresh air flap in the glove box most people will be driving round with this broke our american friends class it as a major point and have come up with ingenious ways to repair it. If you waggle out the shelf (it comes straight out) you can by shining a torch at the back see the flap open through a small gap open and close if you press recirc /fresh on the switch (simply by looking) The Problem If you try to take off the flap to change pollen filter and it is not in Recirc Mode the very action of lifting the flap will almost certainly result in breakage do not think of removing the Flap/cover unless its in recirc mode, the action of getting the flap off most times catches the door and wham! it breaks the lever on the door, The Cure Take out the dash And get to the blower and screw a bolt through the flap and lever and bolt it up with a BA screw using dremel type drill (awkward|) or let Lexus do it Like they used to Cost (gulp 1200) But Now due to our american friends and the stink they caused resulting from Blowers being changed under warranty they have come up with a repair kit for this problem and Lexus Sheffield changed mine in under 1 hour the kit costs £22 and £60 to change it initialy they did not know the kit could be got until they looked into it Gary the service manager was a absolute gem but said "we have never changed this part" but it as not been out long so thats why So if your recirc Fresh air Flap is not working get it fixed my cars windows have never steamed up since and the climate is working brilliantly Part Num 87020A Hope it helps someone Robert
