  1. make sure the adjustment switch is lit on the drop down switch pad there is 3 positions passenger / driver /middle off if its off they wont drop on reverse
  2. If you go to the Us Site there is loads of tips for the 3GS http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-third-generation-153/
  3. I eventually changed the bulbs to the led type and very impressed with them I was wondering if anyone had used the leds for the indicators I know would have to be the ballasted type as they would flash a lot faster Just a thought Robert
  4. Just as an aside to this i too had the tp light on went to Sheffield they traced the fault to the NSR (after i had had a full set of tyres fitted at my local Tyre Department) the Valve was 55,49 they charged me total of 143 to find and fit new valve Every job i have had done at Sheffield Lexus i have been totaly satisfied Gary the service manager is an absolute gent Also went on to say the procedure for changing tyres is to let air out then realease valve and shove it into tyre so it doesnt get damaged Robert
  5. Got the Headlights builbs sorted at Lexus Sheffield 59 each 20 to have them fitted cant grunble at that as made a big difference
  6. Hi All Ref my air con Recirc mode i took my Lexus to Sheffield to have the Fresh/Air recirc checked they found that the shaft on the door that the lever connects to was broken common problem said he will cost upwards of a grand to repair. I had been on the American LexusOwners site where these cars are more plentiful and there was loads of posts to repair it with a bolt through door and lever and held on with glue but i didnt want to go Bodge route as i did suspect that was what was up with mine. But i found one post the that said a repair kit was available to repair it as a lot have had to be changed under warranty even dealerships was breaking this flap by not following instructions in the manual, vis air con must be in recirc mode before you open the flap in the glove compartment to change pollen filter ITS A MUST if you dont its a £1000 repair as they have to replace the whole blower. I did a lot of research on this anyway i said to the parts man at Sheffield " you can get a repair kit" "no you cant said he you have to order complete blower" i said "i beg to differ my freind you can " anyway i came out Man said " you dont really need recirc mode in uk tho " i said thats not the point i wanted it to work but im not paying a grand. At that the parts man came running out said "you are right there is a kit its not been out long its 25 pound shall i order you one" Yes said I they fitted it for me yesterday in SITU in an hour, charged me 1 hour labour less than 100 pound for whole job well pleased and the service manager Gary is a very pleasant man cant do enough to help you a pleasure to deal with a credit to his Bosses they did have to take pass glove box etc out i did ask if they did it with out taking blower out he wasnt sure but he said "probably not as the kit is a repair kit" Kit consisted of 1 door 1 Lever 1 Long bar type part and a couple of foot of foam tape thats it But well pleased now as i do need it as wife as a bit of Asthma so the auto recirc is a boon to me Robert
  7. Hi All Apologies if this as been asked before My HID seem to be getting less bright but i thought it was my imagination but last night on a run back from Hull i was appalled at the light output i might as well not have them on . I had had main beams on but when i dipped i thought they was off but they were not. It seams that after they have been on for a while they go dimmer I always thought they worked perfect till they die. As anyone had same trouble and if I have to change them What Type do you reccomend Its a 2005 Gs300 #3 Robert
  8. Hi All I took tonys advice and contacted Lexus Birmingham and dealt with a very pleasant young lady who quoted me 300 + delivery all in for the discs and pads front and rear i got local garage to fit them they charged 75 to fit plus he said one rear caliper was seized on the pin but he cleaned it up on his lathe and is working perfectly now all in all a very good job and im pleased as punch no brake noise when backing out of my drive perfect thanks for all your advice and taking trouble to respond Robert
  9. Hi all I have a late 2005 GS300 series 3 My problem (if it is a problem) is when i change from recirc to fresh air after a few mins there is a slap sound from the passanger side back of glovebox its like a flap suddenly closeing this only happens when the air con switch is off. its more noticable if i brake or accelerate I do think the air entry flap is working, as if i put it to recirc without air con on it steams up the windows and the sound of the air comeing out of the vents changes and you get that strange smell not a bad smell but its always the same on all cars i believe. But if i put on the air con in full auto mode i never hear the slap sound of the flap Closeing/opening I took out the Pollen filter (yes i did put it in recirc Mode) whilst it was a bit grubby it wasnt too bad. The car as been serviced all its life at Poole and i had my first service at Sheffield last september I have heard horror stories of broken linkage costing over a grand to be repaired hope this is not the case and the heating is normal operating procedure but i do switch of the air con compressor in this weather TIA Robert

  12. bought a set pf toyo proxes c1 to replace the falkens that was fitted there is no sound at all on motorway and are gripping very well feels very safe unlike the falkens(ditch finders) thought the rear wheel bearings had gon 125 a corner for the toyos
  13. Thanks Roy ill take you advice and the other members that answered my Question. It was just that Lexus gave me this story about Excess Dust and squeeling if i fitted non genuine Mind when car is cold and i reverse out of my drive there is pad noise from FOS but soon as i drive of its ok that was why i said to lexus if they could check front brake on the service and they told me about the Non Genuine Pads But in normal braking there is no squeel at all Thanks Robert
  14. Hi all Still undecided about the Discs and Pads But could I ask is the Disc material Better steel than the mainline ones and are the Pads Ceramic they ort to be gold in them for the price Thanks
  15. Gentlemen Thank you very much for your input it as settled my mind . The Sheffield Mechanic when he bought my car round after the service said " The trouble with after market pads is the cause a lot of Brake dust" And went on to say " Thats why we say go Origional" I shall leave them till after xmas as i said they are only Half worn and see how the corrosion goes on the rears they pull up the car very well i wouldnt have thought another thing about it if they hadnt said that they was none genuine Thank you ever so much glad i joined forum Robert
  16. Thanks Steve You may be right as the pads are only half worn thats why gary at sheffield said dont worry about it yet but the rears will need changing definately and the fronts at next service. But the brake performance is perfect pulls up with no grabbing and comes cofidantly to a stop its just that they sowed the seeds of doubt when they said they was not original. The corrosion on the rears may have been caused by the fact that the car had been stood 6 month as the owner got locked up. I bought the car of his friend who sold it on his behalf. I think i may leave it for a while as they are working perfectly Robert
  17. No the Sheffield Lexus dealer Quoted 280 front and 240 rear But Hull Lexus said 860 all in but 620 with gold membership My Lexus was serviced at Poole all its life till i took it over, and I had its 70k service done at Lexus Sheffield so all servicing as been done at Lexus Poole so i cant see how they are not Lexus pads but thats what they said Robert
  18. Hi All Does this sound right I had my 55 GS300 serviced at Sheffield a few months ago and they said I had non genuine Pads in Ferodo and they went on to say that the rear discs were corroded and need replacing not instantly but in the near future, also the fronts were below thickness. The service manager who was a gent i might add said When you are ready we can do the fronts for 280 and rears for 240. I thought that was a bit dear so contacted the Hull Dealer who said 860 all in and if you are in lexus Club 620 even that to me sounds a lot. In conclusion i would like to keep it genuine (previous owner must have put the ferodos in) but at that price Phewwwwww Does any of you reccommend any other makes or am i in a trap and must be lexus Thanks Robert
  19. Thanks for that Yes the rears do look a bit rusty and the fronts have a lip on the outside edge, and when i first reverse my car out of my drive on first start up it is very noisy and scrapy sound from the drivers side front. It pulls up ok and the sound goes soon as i set off , when i had the car serviced at Sheffield i told them of my concern and the stripped oSF and said the disc was below spec for thickness and they had Ferodo Discs and pads in, but run them till pads want changing as they were only half worn (the Pads) but the rears wouldnt last too much longer as they were corroded. Robert
  20. Hi all Ive have just had my GS300 55 plate serviced at Sheffield the report was good but.......... they said the discs and pads were non genuine whilst the fronts was reasonably ok ( they said run it till pads have worn) then you will need new discs and pads but the corrosion was bad on the rears. He went on to say you will have to change the rears pretty soon they were Ferodo these must have been put on by previous owner. Cost would be 245 rears and 220 fronts. Is this a reasonable cost or is there good replacements whilst i would like to go genine that seems expensive to me, can anyone help Robert
  21. Thanks for that it looks like it must have been ommited on UK Models its not the end of the world i just thought it was a nice feature if it could have been enabled Robert
  22. Thanks for that Steve but ive read reread the manual an d makes no refrence to it However the US manual does but when i try the instructions it does nothing is it a hidden menu Thanks robert
  23. Hope Someone can help Can i set up for the locks to come opn when i drive off and the car to unlock when gear lever put back to Park Thanks
  24. As I am new to the forum I have followed this thread (not wanting to hiJack it) I too have been told i May need a new caliper on OFS Front when the car reverses there is a grating sound from the wheel as tho the disc/pad is catching something but fine going Forward the pads are not worn and the disc looks ok, but this diagnosis was from local garage Robert
