  1. Ok well finally managed to take the car to the tyre garage today.

I played it calm I didn't make any accusations, the manager denied it  He said that they always use plastic holders to remove the tyre and pride themselves on being the best in the area.

I shown him the scratch and he said that could have happened anywhere, and to be fair it could have, but it's too obvious.

Anyway, I've learnt my lesson, I will always and I mean ALWAYS check my car over when it's been in for work.

I would mention who they are but, you just don't know who your dealing with these days....w*****s

  2. Cheers guys for your feedback.

The trouble is i've used & trusted this garage before, I just jumped in the car and drove off happy as they repaired 2 punctures, laser aligned for £38 which I was happy with.

I now have to go back & be seen as the bad person - I am really annoyed with them..

I'll phone them tomorrow and see what they have to say about it - will let you know .

I've certainly learnt from this for next time....

  3. Hi Guys,

Just had 2 punctures repaired on my 2 rear wheels on my IS last Friday. Cleaned the car this morning and have noticed that they have scratched the alloy rims all round (like if they have been kerbed) and they have also scratched the bumper when putting the spare back into the car.

If I take the car to them can I prove it or will they deny it? Or is it normal for alloys to be scrached when they take the tyre off???

I'm really p****d off as the alloys were brand new replacements by lexus 2 months ago under warranty.

Any help or related problems appreciated!

  4. If your IS is still under warranty I wouldn't bother with the WD40 etc etc - it is covered under warranty. The same problem happened on mine in June this year. Lexus Chester replaced the back of the seat and the problem has gone away. They didn't actually replace the leather bit but the part inside somehow!!! And the reason I know this is because the electric bit that controls the back of the seat now makes a different noise to the seat height ajust button (if that makes sense!)

Don't take any crap off the dealer tell them you want it replaced!

    Good luck!

  5. Here's my contribution:-

Used to have a 320d as a company car, great performance but the stereo was crap, seats were horrible, alloys were naff & it just seemed very expensive for the money. I do like the top of the range though, but hey who wants to fork out £40k.

Test drove the IS, cranked up the stereo, loved the toys, creamed my pants when I first heard the 6 cylinders - Bought one in 2003 - say no more!

If it was me, I would go for a second hand IS, and wait for the new model - sometime in the next 2 years we hope!

  6. Even I'm surprised there's not much in it, my IS200 (manual) generally does 300 - 340 miles to a tank & I don't drive it slow!

    IS300:-

    Urban: 18.2 mpg / 15.51L/100km

    Extra-urban: 35.3 mpg / 8.0L/100km

    Combined: 26.2

    IS200:-

    Manual: 21.4 mpg / 13.2L/100Km

    Extra-urban: Manual: 36.2 mpg / 7.8L/100Km

    Combined: Manual: 29.1 mpg / 9.7L/100Km

  7. Yup, dead easy to remove the stereo out. I did that with mine - btw my PDA was the tomtom with that huge (I mean massive) sucker for the window. I took this apart and was left with the cradle, dismantled one of the air vents from the centre console (dead easy) & fixed the cradle into the vent with a cable tie, fed the 2 cables for the pda through the vent (power & gps cables) & now you cannot see any wires at all! Looks cool I think.

  8. Depends on how much money you have mate & it depends if you like the new spokey alloys.

The only real benefit since the mod's in 2001 are the HID's on the new IS200 which make driving much better at night, imho the lights at night on my IS are crap - even with bluevision bulbs (and this is probably the only thing I can complain about!)

  9. If they put new tyres on have you checked the spare to see if that's new? If not then you have a case to argue......good luck.

imho the tyres do wear down quickly on the IS, what brand are you using? I have potenza's on mine when I bought it last year with 6k on the clock, in November last year with 17k on the clock I had to change the full set!!!! I changed to dunlop sp9000 and am still running on them and my mileage is 43k therefore 26k miles on the tyres so far with plenty left on them!!!

  10. After what seems like a lifetime of waiting I get the new 200 SE manual next Friday 17/9.

This one is granite - I've moved away from black due to terrible chipping and swirl marks - is the grey likely to be better ?

Looking forward to switching from auto to manual but will miss cruise control.

    Anyway . . the countdown has begun . . . .

And you won't be overtaken by Corsa's & Focus' when you switch to manual !

    Sorry auto fans :D :D :D
