  1. I checked my Fluid about 6 months ago it's red and looked fine I have no gearbox issues the car has covered 85.000 miles, Personally I think Lexus know that changing gearbox oil is a lottery it can cause damage and as gearboxes are very very expensive they shy away from it in favour of leaving alone against possible replace claim, 1 claim for a new gearbox would eradicate 20 gearbox oil fills it's simple math. History has shown that leaving alone is the best financial policy. If lexus or any other garage could advertise a £250 fluid change into their service a schedule CONfident in the knowledge that it would cause no problems I think they would. Had a GB oil change on my E300TD @ 62,000 it's covered a 123,000 and still running fine.
  2. you may be able to give the linkage connected to this a good tug hopefully opening the door
  3. Thanks all I think it's mainly all fluids apart from transmission then + Plugs HNY Mark
  4. The steering could have been deactivated at the dealers at the request of a previous owner. if nothing else fixes it.
  5. I have a 120,000 mile service coming up I have googled it but anyone whats included they will have my car most of the day I am on a service plan so all paid for. LS430 2002. There has been some reference to transmission oil change ???? on the net, but I checked mine and it's a lovely red colour, and the gearbox is as smooth as silk. anyone know if it's a part of the service. I think coolant, brake fluid, oil/air sparks, anything else ????
  6. I had the same problem door was locked shut, I bit the bullet and took it to my dealer they charged me for the part only, they said they would repair it for free but could not say how long it would work, so I payed for a new actuator motor and linkage. When I arrived at the garage I said the doors locked shut so the door card can not be removed, they said thay can not open a locked door without damaging the door card it just can not be opened from the outside/inside, this was going to be expensive so I went out gave the door a thundering slam pressed the remote and it slowly opened , half hour later all fixed 180 all in no vat no labour. If you can remove the door card keep it off till you get it sorted could save a load of hassle. Mark
  7. just 2 advisories slightly worn rear bushes nothing to worry about , but the guy said he was clutching at straws to find something that might need doing in the future, he's a mate so I know he's not trying to rip me off.
  8. The door warning/courtesy lamp fell off the passenger side door the one at the bottom red lens anybody know where i can get one from. Regards Mark,
  9. We all know about how quiet our 400/430's are on the inside, but after fitting new tyres direct tread to add the the quietness I find pedestrians are finding my car hard to hear. Over the last month people have walked out, or remained in the path of my car with there back to me when I have been approaching them at low speed, car parks are worst literally right up behind them and they have not noticed the car right behind them, they turn and jump looking surprised and they're not wearing ear pods, this has happened too many times now for there to be that many idiots out there. I asked the wife if she could hear it approaching so we tested it she could hear it but the sound hardly increased as it got nearer she said if she was talking to a friend or engrossed in thought it could be a non-invasive sound and would not alert her. Even on the road people have walk out in front and away of the car in a diagonal direction not even hearing it bloody annoying really. I know they should look but people are alerted by sound and most cars are noisy. should I go back to my Diesel for the sake of humanity.
  10. When opening using the smart key the Lexus dealer told me to place your hand so the full palm is on the outer side of the door handle, in other words put your fingers up and under the handle to grip it, it could be the door sensor is failing? also check the battery in the fobs they may need replacing.
  11. A few times on the Forum I have read about engine braking is it good or bad ??? well coming home from a short break in the cotswolds going down the A417 near the Air Balloon pub the old LS430 did its thing kind of automatically, it's a fair old hill and she braked wonderfully and gently without me doing a thing went from 5th to 4th all on her own while still in drive and held at 45 mph, this is a decent hill and I am convinced there is some device within the car which detects the gradient before the car butts in, the cars brakes feel keener and with less pressure on the pedal more able to brake even with the speed incline and weight when going down any hill, on a slight hill the car rolls a little faster waiting for me to brake but the brakes are still easier under foot definitely keener, It's like a hill start we have an almighty steep incline with traffic lights at the top, on red she just sits there solid waiting for me to apply the gas, and another slightly lesser hill again just sat there with no need for handbrake, until a very very slight gradient and she will roll forward and i apply the footbrake. I do engine brake now and again to give the box a workout, and work it up the gears.
  12. Someone other than me left a Porsche Boxster S with there pants down just entering the M56 from the A556 returning from family hols 4 of us and a boot full of luggage, the guy was right up my backside quick press kick down as we came out of the bend onto the 56 and he was all but gone, he caught up with me on the outside lane as i eased off and gave me a glance as he overtook me, try that in your box with 4 people and 3 suitcases dreamer.
  13. They can be a bit responsive from the lights and i didn't even have the power button on ( I am sure it makes it even more responsive with that switched on) If you're on the AB remember V/W rated tyres are only guaranteed at speeds over a 150 MPH for 1 Hour, or a lot sooner if the wife comments LOL Have a good one.
  14. After 8 months ownership I am well happy with my LS, just completed a 745 mile journey for our hols down to Devon and back with a few trips in between, fully loaded for 3 adults 1 child + luggage 3 cases bags ETC and food for the week and we don't travel light worked out she returned @ 70 and sometimes a bit over 32.2 miles per gallon at a cost of £130 quid and i still have just over half a tank left, The roads are so smooth it was a joy to drive, I am having the lower trailing arm ball joints done because of knocking, but down there i did not hear them once, it just glided along, coming back we hit a bit of slow traffic and there was a Bentley Spur at the side of me then the traffic cleared he floored it and so did I neck and neck for 200 yards till the wife commented and I eased off. @ $%$ MPH Mark
  15. Thanks for that, one on each side, mine has rear Aircon as well I wounder if the rear exits out of these too.
  16. Hi all, Are the drain holes for the Aircon situated on each side just off center towards the middle of the car underneath the heat shield, i have water dripping out of there, I know the drain for the coolent is located there somewhere but all the levels under the bonnet are ok so I guess it's the water produced by the Aircon i have it on all the time, can anyone confirm this.
  17. keep the A/C on it will help demist, also make sure re circulation is not on.
  18. Sat waiting for my daughter to finish school i stopped counting the button's in my LS430 i got to 230 and felt knackered that's including the onscreen display.
  19. Yes Lexus are good a big fat lies, i think they replace the whole lower control arm because there are a few bushes on the set up, bad for our wallet, great for them.
  20. i think i have the same problem i get a knock, but only when the car goes over a certain kind of bump it's not there all the time, Lexus said it was the lower control arm bush, but they only replace the whole lower control arm, according to them the bushes can not be sourced. they said it's the lower arm trailing arm bushes both sides.
  21. Actually road humps have a use, we have them round here where i live i can not avoid them, they are full width of the road, TBH my lexus had a little bit of lope about it when i first got it, sorted out the tyre pressures, fixed a leaking one, shocks suspension fine no leaks, i noticed after i had been going over the road humps my car sits better on the road, it's a bit like a suspension work out every day, i go over gently, then a bit faster on the smaller ones, it sits level no lean, and more of a defined back to front lean rather than i looking like it's riding high a t the front, go try it.
  22. i thought the lower control arm bushes came as one piece within the lower control arm, can you just replace the bushes????
