  1. stick the Velcro pull cord round the tool box it doubles as clip to stop the tool box sliding back out...
  2. Noise, well i get the chance once a week to rotate our cars and drive the wife's e300 and the noise is a mixture of engine and road, drove the CT 200 when i had it for a loan car road noise and ride was really bad no engine noise running on battery, then had a IS250 ride and engine noise quite bad, get back in the 430 phew what a comfortable silent ride this is Some of the roads round here are crap but most are smooth and i can hardly hear a thing, motorways rumble but that's expected, try a different car for a couple of days then get back in the 430 the differences are noticeable. TBH we get used to the quietness and we begin to pick up on every extra noise that enters the cab, new passengers in my car always comment how silent it is.
  3. Hi Blues-man that's bad luck but only costing £40 + fitting is not bad going TBH, well done on getting the door, i think by your post is was a private car park, as it's mentioned it used to be a road have a look here http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/www.direct.gov.uk/en/disabledpeople/motoringandtransport/bluebadgescheme/dg_171251 Regards Mark
  4. good thread, I have noticed very few other drivers taking my LS430 on at the lights since i have had her, only BMW driver's feel the need to express there right foot, and boy do they suffer when this 1.5 ton 10 year old beefy lady with a drag co of 0.26 tramps on em.so JC could be the other Alan Partridge to nail a lexus.
  5. save your self a good few grand about 12K and buy an older LS430, TBH only a few people would know the difference, the drive of the 430 is excellent and i would say better than the 460 slap a private plate on and there you go, you could go through 3 or 4 of these for 17K.
  6. yep i got onto that one thanks, and i cleaned the temp sensor as well it's down at the front as well, my bloody knee's are killing me.
  7. looking through the manual i found smog sensor setting's Ls430 2002 stops nasty whiff's exhaust gasses entering the car say in standing traffic. auto shuts off outside circulation, parked up press and hold the re-circulation button marked (inside-Auto-outside) then after about 5 sec's a screen appears smog sensor sensitiveness pre set to medium select how you want it set, then just exit the screen back to audio or climate, the lights then Auto changes from inside/outside, i end up behind a lot of buses on the school run and this feature really works. shuts off the outside when i am behind one or in traffic and opens back up when the airs clearer,
  8. i think it's a trip to the dealer or a good indy, for a small fee of course. mines going in next week to have a rear door actuator fitted it failed last week and the doors stuck shut not covered by the warranty, so after couple of phone calls to head office they offered me 50% of the fully installed price so £237 fitted to me which is ok, so i will ask then. Regards Mark
  9. a good independent should be able to fit the tank at a fraction of the cost when you have sourced one.
  10. i was in Tesco's cafe the other day, the lady asked me what i wanted on my burger, i said a fiver each way. true this my daughter is shocked at the horse meet scandal and so are her friends going on about it the other day in our house, you know how girls do. she and her mate's are going on 12- 13 years and guess where there off to on a school trip for 5 days in February but back to the horse meet. .................................................................. Paris, even i haven't got the heart to tell them. i just smile, as dads do. it will be lovely for her as she turns 13 on the trip and on that day they will be on top of the Eiffel Tower so very special for her, just hope she dont order burgers, better off with frogs legs, at least you think it's off a frog.

  18. but on cold frosty freezing mornings i leave it running, blow the fuel my arse needs warming.
  19. how did you get on did you manage to get in, i believe they are one of the hardest cars to enter without smashing the glass.
  20. i know it was a mechanic as they where stepping away from each other as i came out of the toilet, they both just slipped away not really noticing me, i watched the mechanic drive it over to the garage. it could be a training car for apprentices to work on, it could be someones personal project at the dealers, or it could be a Donor car for ???????.
  21. only me in the dealers and i had been there for some time and needed the toilet, just drying my hands out of sight and not saying when or where but overheard a service manager tell a mechanic to "get the donor car over to the garage and strip it".......the donor car was a very sorry looking GS parked outside i passed on my way in. i am not making 2+2=5 just made me think.
  22. Went for the service plan for 3 years fixed servicing 1 big and 2 small, i think my car is in excellent condition so for the monthly cost i went with it, £16.50 per month, first one's due 15-16th jan, going with main dealer as they are so good and nothing is to much trouble although i have never really asked for anything, car picked up, courtesy car dropped off (god awful CT200h) car serviced, and valeted, returned and the (god awful CT200h) taken away, 3 MOT's as well thrown in. Mark
  23. Being an EX HGV driver Class 1 i often had to reverse blind, so i good look at the parking spot as i was passing helped me take a mental picture of what i needed to do, this 430 slide's into most gaps that some people with a smart would struggle with, hence not the need for the reverse camera, did try one and boy was it hard to do no feeling there.
